  1. I presume you mean DVD instead of DVR. You CANNOT jump a DVD recorder, regardless of brand. I'd return it and get a Sony miniDV camera if you have any intentions of jumping it. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. You cannot tell from that info it it'll fit a canon or not! You have to ask the seller. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. But Parachute de France has also declared that Argus is not suitable in their rigs (at least for the moment) www.ffp.asso.fr/IMG/pdf/CS_124.pdf Mmmm my French isn't that great, but it seems they use the Argus SB to announce that Argus cannot be used in PdF/RI/Strong/Basik Air rigs? Unless all of those manufacturers had a previous SB out (I know some did but haven't seen one for PdF)? ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. I heard somewhere that the latest versions of Pinnacle have problems. Earlier versions (I think up to 8?) were fine. Of course Premiere/others also need as much memory etc as you can give it, but I can render in PP2.0 while doing photoshop work, read my email and burn/recode a dvd using Nero at the same time! (Don't ask me WHY I do all that that though ) This on a laptop with 2 gb RAM, dual core processor 1.8 GHz, G-force Go 7400 graphics, 2x s-ata harddrives/usb2.0 external harddrives. Ie, pretty good specs for a laptop but still "only" a laptop. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. I already wrote how I do it, in this thread and in others. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Not if you do it the way i do it. Of course the pc has to make up 5 out of every 30 frames but since you cannot SEE 30 fps anyway it is not too bad, certainly no obvious skipping (only if you forget to de-interlace). BTW I'll convert anything to anything if you pay me to ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Right, then do not jump at our DZ Usually tandems get out at 9k so all 12k jumpers are sitting behind them until then. If the tandems go to the same altitude as the rest, any AFF/wingsuiters are still behind them. When they say Cessna, they do not mean Caravans .. I realise that but I still think it was a fairly stupid post ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Ehm, not much snow here at the moment..... And most dz's are closed here, although some are open on weekends. You may want to ask in the Geman forum which dz's if any are still open. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. Less damage to lines (and slider grommets if you do not have good bumpers). You need a collapsible slider if you have softlinks without bumpers, because the slider will have a tendency to come down over softlinks by itself thereby trapping your brakelines (had that happen a few times) if you do not collapse it and then pull it down behind your head. ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. You can always tell the newbies "But, but, but, I told her her riser covers aren't closed and she just shrugged?!?!? " ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. They pack 1 or 2 sizes larger, yeah. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Please do a search on this forum, which lens to get depends on what/how you want to film with it. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. That one's been on YouTube for a while now. A lot of the comments were, "It's a fake!" ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. It usually is the other way 'round. If the situation merits a cutaway and you perform like you were trained and it all works out fine, it seems to lift a weight of quite a few skydivers (of course you "know" you're gonna do well, but..... ). My cutaways weren't scary, they were necessary so I did 'em. No time to be scared while it's happening, and didn't get that scared, after, either. Only time I got scared really was when I pulled too low (+- 2500 ft as a pre-A-license holder). Do I get NERVOUS sometimes yes, scared, no. And the nerves are performance anxiety ("don't screw this up") not fear of a cutaway. ciel bleu, Saskia

  16. If you can get the footage to your pc (doubtful when using an NTSC camera for PAL ) you need to remember 2 things: there is a 20% size difference between the 2 formats so you need to resize depending on your output format, and you need to de-interlace the clips to get rid of the frame rate difference. I edited a few swoop/FS world record videos that had PAL, NTSC, and lately HD PAL and HD NTSC too. It's doable just takes slightly longer. I use Premiere Pro though not movie maker. I capture all footage in separate premiere projects, PAL project for PAL, HD for HD etc, then import all clips in a project with the settings for the final video (in my case, generally widescreen DV PAL). The I edit the video, fix the size where needed and when finished, render the project with de-interlacing. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. What do you mean by training video? Only SL video I have is here: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3753&string=static%20line ciel bleu, Saskia

  24. Yeah I saw one like that at our DZ last weekend, same badge too I guess it hides the discoloration/scuffmarks where the pin is under the flap? ciel bleu, Saskia
