  1. I'd get a collapsible pilotchute (you will notice the difference plus later resale value), but without the hackey (the tube thing is much better for wingsuiting), and an Argus (Vigil has had way more problems). RSL, sure. Don't know about the backpadding. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. And buying an incomplete camera does not? ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Hmmm buy another (complete) PC106/109 on ebay? ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. As others have said the easiest way is to buy a PCMCIA Firewire card. However if your laptop is old (more than 2 years), you may not have the necessary Processing power, Memory or Storage space to edit digital video, or it maybe frustratingly slow. PCMCIA or PCI depends on whether the guy has a pc or a laptop. They are not interchangeable. You can edit fine on even a 4yr old laptop, however it takes longer and programs like premiere pro 2 are not likely to work. But I've been editing for years, so saying it won't work is not entirely true. Although it's a nice excuse to buy that new 17" dual core laptop ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Hmm maybe it was because I jump camera then But "RSL or AAD" is a very stupid rule IMO, as they do 2 totally different things one cannot replace the other. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. In Europe, quite a few countries do. Netherlands: up to your c license France: always Norway: always ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. 1 - FXC fired at 2500 ft or so, same time I pulled my main, 2 out later downplaned on me so chopped main at 1000 ft. 2 - spinning mal on safire 135 probably due to slider collapse lines being too long and entangling with canopy lines, fixed these after the mal 3 - line over on sabre 135, was borrowed canopy, I returned it after the 2nd jump due to a few lines going the wrong way 4 - spinning mal on spectre 135 (WTF?!?) don't know why, was lowish already so was quick to say bye-bye 5 - total mal, pilotchute stuck in pocket, not spectre's fault..... Hmm I seem to have a problem with non-hp size 135 canopies No serious problems with my vengeance or with CRW canopies edit: and 2 intentionals in between, and 2 days of crw (filming) jumps on a demo PD126R ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. I for one can't help thinking about a certain BASE accident ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. You need a firewire cable. You need to have a firewire port on your pc, depending on that port you buy the correct cable, you need a 6pin end for the camera and a 6pin or 9pin end for the pc. Forget about using usb. Buy a PCI firewire card (pretty cheap these days) if you do not have firewire. ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. We've had some problems with Sandisk cards over the years, but they're still the best cards And the problems all got resolved really quick so no biggie. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. My diablo is awfully LIGHT on the frontrisers, much lighter than both the spectre and the vengeance I flew before. I can EASILY hold 360 and I'm a wimp, didn't get past 270 on the vengeance... My WL is 1.3 or so. Checking your brakelines might indeed be in order! Bucking is a sure sign of braking ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Our student rigs have lengthened steering lines so students cannot stall the canopy (without wraps, obviously). They can still land fine, neing able to stall a canopy is not necessary for a good landing. Sounds like either you're not flaring all the way (very common) or the steering lines are too long for you. Anyway be careful when taking wraps: you just attached your canopy to you now what if you need to chop? ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. You need to capture the footage in a project with the right settings for that footage (PAL 4:3 for DV PAL, NTSC 16:9 for widescreen NTSC, etc). Then you can import the footage into your working project. Be sure to resize the imported video to fit and always deinterlace that bit of footage to get the framerate right (25 fps vs 30 fps). ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Ehm, WHY? With the euro vs dollar as it is, plus the shipping, it has got to be a really sweet deal to be worth it! ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Some newer sony's are not compatible, like the hc1, a1 etc. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Actually that's not that expensive, I'd have to pay EUR 425-450 for a PD lineset + install and an Icarus lineset is more expensive I've been told. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. No they are not considered freefly-friendly. There are some mods that can be doen to help but opinions vary about their usefulness. If you maintain the velcro you COULD freefly in it however some dz's won't let you and it isn't really that smart. If I were you I'd look for another container, there are older models that are more freefly friendly (PdF Atom for instance) or get a newer rig. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Just something I googled: http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=Riva_FLV_Encoder ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. I'm no dude, and I wasn't talking about stills either. But, I'm done here. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Eh, so? You were asking about digital camera's then didn't seem to understand what digital camera's ARE. I know about tapes, yes. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Why are you opening a new thread when that same question is being debated one thread below this one? ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Don't know about France, but in The Netherlands if you're doing work for hire, ie the passenger pays you to do a tandem video/photo's, that passenger also has copyright. Meaning that passenger can publish photo's as long as he gives credits to the photographer, but you cannot publish without asking the passenger. AFAIK this is not usually practised, I see tandem photos published by passenger without credits and I see tandem photos published by photographer without knowledge/permission from passenger. In our country at least, model release is not applicable since they didn't object to you taking pictures at the time and the cannot be discredited by those pictures (different story if pics were taking of someone visiting hookers etc as this can potentially get them into trouble, or if pics were taken in a privat setting ie in a house). So tandem master cannot object (well, not legally, however if you still want to jump with him.....). Bottom line, if someone ask you to take pics and pays you to do it it is work for hire and they have a very big say in what happens with those pictures. If not work for hire, then they have no say in it. So, are you shooting pics for a DZ, for the tandemmaster, for the passenger or for yourself? And, do the same rules apply in France? Did you give away your pics to the tandemmaster while signing away all your copyright (unlikely!)? And do you still want/need to be friends with this guy? You may want to google up the copyright legislation in your country to be sure. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. A digital camcorder uses either tapes (miniDV/DV tapes are digital!) or DVD or harddrive/flash memory. 99% of the camera's used by skydivers use miniDV so I presume that is what they mean. ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. On both your first questions, i suggest you do a search on this forum this has been talked about a gazzillion times. ciel bleu, Saskia
