  1. any idea which rigs that would be? ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Rots and seq both, actually ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. That's just the steering line length. Bet you the steering lines on the sabre2 were too short. Usually PD canopies come with shortish brakelines, esp if you want to use your frontrisers you need to lengthen them. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. That actually depends on where you jump. In The Netherlands, SL jumps do NOT count towards your A license! You need (among other things) 25 freefall jumps, not just 25 total jumps. No clue if tandems count though ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Get one of the rainbow warmsuits, you'll see a few at Empuria for sure! http://www.rainbowsuits.com/en/jumpsuits/airtherm-suit.shtml Best suit I ever bought, it's warm, windproof and smooth so you can wear it underneath your jumpsuit comfortably. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Please do a search on both canopies and on the difference between a 7 and 9 cell, it's been talked about a gazillion times here... ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. I have a black/silver/purple canopy now and even though I like the colors, I have been told my canopy is hard to see in the air. I personally hate those white/light blue/dark blue type canopies I have trouble spotting those from below. My previous canopy was alternate magenta/yellow, signal colors for sure people always knew where I was! ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Not all pc's have dv-in! And the more expensive hc's do have dv-in. Also, pc style camera's are not made anymore so you'll have to look 2nd hand. Basically, get a pc for sidemount and a hc (or pc or trv) for topmount. If you can get dv-in as it is a hassle if you don't and then want to copy stuff from friends. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. You don't WANT stabilising (or at least, opinio s vary, I dont) as it can CAUSE unstable footage. Also Canon's have their own problems. Be safe and stick with Sony, or be a guinea pig and tell us how it works out for you ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. It's an old elliptical canopy (one of the first). Over here you'd need >400 jumps to jump one. But I don't know anyone who does ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. A few jumpers here jump the open face Z1 from Parasport Italia, with their pc-style camera sidemount, usually with the chin piece. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. We've had at least 2 sabre2's on our DZ that consistently opened hard and sometimes in a turn too. Both jumpers sold theirs! ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. errr.. a Cypres (Argus, Vigil, other) no aad He needs one to jump there. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. I for one never give away my tapes. I'm usually pleasantly surprised if someone brings their own camera + firewire cable
  15. Because people have died jumping more than 2 canopies and screwing up. Your main: can be cut away. your reserve: can not be cutaway (duh). Third canopy: if you can cut it away you may do so unintentionally. If you cannot cut it away, you may end up with 2 canopies that are attached to you which is very dangerous. Jumping with 3 canopies is considered dangerous, so not everyone can do the intentional cutaway thing (not beginners anyway). Even the extra small round that some of the Canopy Formation jumpers wear has caused some accidents as well as saved some people. More stuff = more change of messing something up. If it can be messed up, be sure that it will! ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. The camera end is always 4pin, if your pc firewire port looks the same get a 4pin - 4pin. If your pc port is much bigger (sorta like an usb port) get a 4pin - 6pin. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. I've only jumpes rigs with chestrings that were slightly too big (mainly a bit too wide) for me. Result: I had to pull the chestrap just about as tight as it would go, meaning the mlw now had a fairly big angle. If I do the same with another same-size harness that doesn't have the chest rings, the harness does not distort as much, hardly any distortion really. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Usually you create either avi or mpeg4 files, then re-code those to dvd (vob files). DV footage ("uncompressed" avi) is 2.8mb/sec, HDV is bigger. A dvd will take about 1 hour of normal-quality footage. So the 4:3 avi file you export to a FAT32 drive could be up to 23 minutes or so if i do the math right. I have no clue if WMM will burn dvd's actually I'pretty sure it doesn't have the required codecs, but I use Premiere Pro. if you have the avi/mpeg4 as output from your editing program you can then use something like Nero Vision to create the dvd. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Still, you cannot have jumped a 150 and you cannot have jumped a sabre2 yet, so it might be smart to try both out before committing to buying a fairly expensive canopy. Unless you are now happily flying a pilot 168 and are confident enough with it to go one size down. You may not even LIKE the speed of a sabre2 150. Anyway, buying a rig over the internet is tricky. Atoms are easiest as they come in standard sizes but you don't want one (why not?). Have you been to the Parachute Case, Skydive Supplies, Caroline Suits etc yet. You could always buy a rig locally and get the canopie(s) online (a sabre2 is certainly cheaper from the States). ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. There's llike a gazillion different sony camera's, you need to know which model exactly it was made for ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. How long your movies can be depends on other things: besides the usual processing power and harddrive room (room for the clips room for the finished movie, roo for processing) you also need a NTFS formatted drive if any one file is bigger than 4 gb. FAT32 can only go to 4gb. Check your drive and your operating system (win xp can handle ntfs). ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Well the PC109 is one of the smallest camera's, so you have a fairly good chance there ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Zoiets? http://deverkoper.nl/winkel/lader/sony/ladersony.npf100.html ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. Have you checked out the camera forum yet? ciel bleu, Saskia
  25. Well you could get a zenitar 16mm fisheye for cheap... ciel bleu, Saskia
