How would you land down hill???
dragon2 replied to stayhigh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yeah but AFAIK those are all very advanced type canopies, not suitable for a beginner skydiver. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Well the new HC-5 and HC-7 are up for sale on Sony.com
dragon2 replied to markovwgti's topic in Photography and Video
Most electronic equipment can support both standards except Sony . They same some dime on PAL support and selling PAL equipment higher price than NTSC. Plus they make some mods to the PAL camera's The low-end models have dv-input disabled, and the HC1E had some restrictions compared tot the HC1, but that seems to have been fixed later on. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Good point, I've thought this myself on occasion especially in relation to claims that incidents damage the sport, I've wondered how much damage would be done if skydiving were seen as perfectly safe. People especially whuffo tandems skydive because it's seen as dangerous and a test of your courage/will. It goes on the to-do list because of this, not in spite of it. Incidents due to STUPID mistakes (such as screwing yourself into the ground with a low turn) hurt the sport in the eyes of the public, in my opinion. The whuffos already think we're crazy - hearing about someone slamming in on a low turn doesn't help us with that. They rarely hear that, it's always "the parachute malfunctioned/didn't open" ciel bleu, Saskia

[geek]Er, that's actually just current. Power would be measured in watts. Yeah I know that But these are all the specs they give on the website.... Maybe I translated it wrong, they say its "Totaal vermogen" AFAIK that's total power. ciel bleu, Saskia

No, just that with some rigs it is best if you only belly fly since they have poor riser and pin protection, they weren't made for the higher speeds and the angles you fly at. Examples of non-freefly-proof rigs are most older rigs, notably vector II as these come up in the classifieds a lot. All brand new rigs (at least of the major brands) are freefly-proof nowadays. ciel bleu, Saskia

Things every newbie sould know? Please help a bit.
dragon2 replied to autoset's topic in Gear and Rigging
I didn't say they were better just different. For me, not better, although for serious crw or freefly I'd probably jump pull-out too. I'm thinking there's more than 5% pull-outs at my DZ, at least among up jumpers, but havent counted ciel bleu, Saskia -
Don't know what size you are after, but the Icarus stock list shows a 129 and a 149 among others. http://www.icaruscanopies.com.es/report_stock_order.php ciel bleu, Saskia

So? That was also possible with the A1, HC1, HC3. Nothing new ciel bleu, Saskia

Adobe Bridge has been significanty improved. My fav: the new smart filters! And the start-up time has been improved to less than 5 secs on my laptop, yay! I've been using the beta for 1 1/2 weeks now, it still got a few bugs but I'm def gonna switch over. edit: another thing that has been majorly improved is photo stichtching, for those that use it. http://www.nikon-club-nederland.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1964 ciel bleu, Saskia

Hmm it's a flash-based camera, no HD. And it looks like it MIGHT take a wideangle lens too. Might be a nicy toy. I wouldn't buy it though! ciel bleu, Saskia

Most videocams are 0.8 megapixel. That's interlaced. De-interlace that for a non-moving pic it gives you 0.4 megapixel. A decent photo starts at 3 megapixel ciel bleu, Saskia
