  1. No, only safire 1 and omega have the sizing issue. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. I'd be very worried about you on a Diablo at 15 jumps. It's a very very aggressive canopy that dives like a bastard. Ditto. I now jump a Diablo, and my Vengeance was tamer than my Diablo is!!! Be careful with that thing. Switching to a decent intermediate canopy (spectre, triathlon, safire, pilot etc) would be much better. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. I made my first jump with it last saturday (yay, finally decent weather!). During exit and under canopy I can feel the camera's shutter when taking a photo. I couldn't, now So I took loads of pics of the ground trying to see if the camera was working or not. Duh, I just coated it with rubber Don't like this side-effect though ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. I'm glad that during last year's Nationals (OUR Nationals) I was allowed to let someone replace me due to a severe opening that put me in the hospital for half the day, luckily I was released after that but couldn't jump for 6 weeks after due to bruised ribs and stiff neck and spine (real lucky I didn't break my back there). The judges felt sorry for me and let the guy that packed my main () replace me for the last 1 1/2 day. I'd LIKE to be part of the team more, but, well, this way it's more fair I suppose... ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. What do you mean by TSO patch? I sold plenty of stuff to other countries including USA, never a problem. Never heard of a TSO patch though You mean the manufacturer's label? ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Well we had some trouble with the vigils at our Dz today. Apperantly we had really high air pressure today, not sure what it was exactly but it is 1034mbar now, at 8:30 in the evening. This morning, 1 Vigil turned on after much prodding. 1 turned on then started looping through the settings and didn't stop, untill we figured out it stopped on Student or Tandem, no good obviously, we ended up setting it to pro+150ft that worked. Huh. Next vigil started up fine. Then two more with the looping problem and same "solution". Great This problem has been known for over 1 1/2 years now, not sure why it still exists NOW, maybe these 3 units are different versions, if so why haven't they been updated. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Why not get a camerasuit with wings you can easily sitfly in (wing attachment on front of arms like freestyle wings, not under arms) and freefly legs? I got a 2piece suit like that now, love it. I had a 1piece suit, same style wings but tight legs, also worked great except it doesn't fit me anymore ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. On a lot of dz's spaceballs are banned, either totally or unless a ball master is present. For a safer alternative look up "Vladiball". ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. I've seen people do that, and have trouble even landing on the pad let alone score points. One of the canopies (a vented Troll I think) just wouldn't quit flying and sink, the other guys aren't that great at accuracy to begin with I think, but I doubt the canopy helped.... I think loooking for a 2nd hand classic/foil/... is cheaper than buying a new base canopy, in fact I think we still have a 252 in a closet somewhere.... But a base canopy would be a better choice than say the merit I saw a guy trying to sink (hint: don't try that at home) ciel bleu, Saskia

    Skysurfing

Our national regs suggest a working freestyle knowledge first (proven by video), and C-license. I always wanted to try skysurfing but I think it's too dangerous for "just trying" And I'd need to work on my freestyle first then too ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Besides 5 secs being really short, freeflyers can move around a lot. Are you sure you fell straight down? Did the other 2? A sit or hd can move quite a lot, comparable to a track sometimes Esp above cloud cover it may be hard to see if you're moving a lot or not. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. See pic for L-brackets some of us use for topmounted trv-style camera's. Never seen one used with a sidemount but might be a solution for you. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. If the wideangle breaks off, the ring on the camera breaks off too. $$$$$$$. I strongly suggest a chin-cup-with-cutaway of some kind (I know Bonehead deosn't make them for this helmet). ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. That wideangle lens looks like it would get ripped off real easy. We have one cameraman with a setup like that on our DZ who had that happen to him twice in a few weeks ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Actually for wingsuiting I don't like them as much. Sometimes a suit is under too much stress around cut-in laterals. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. My guess is that at least half the funjumpers here jump gear that old. Not every rig that old is freefly proof but the older Atoms for instance are pretty good. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. That's BIRDchick to you ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. I realize that, I wasn't responding to the original poster but to you when you said to not buy a home-made pc ever. Not what year, what COUNTRY. PB is one of if not THE biggest vendor here. Also, I'm no dude The problems you listed are somewhat amusing, I can tell you I never had THAT many problems building my own. A slight hicckup here and there, sure. But I have had LOTS of problems with pre-installed software and hardware compatability problems etc from Tulip/Compaq/PB/HP/Sony, although Dell admittedly doesn't cause as many problems as the others do, esp. lately. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Why pay more (WAY more) for Dell, if I can assemble the pc myself with the exact specs I want? And with room to add stuff later if I want to (i usually do). I don't really do it to save money actually, more for the specs and for the fun as well... If you tinker with a brand pc you'll lose warranty. Their cases usually aren't even equipped to plug in just one more HD My old HP is now a case-modded awful-looking flashy thing just because I like to tinker. PB is really bad about tinkering, HP is only slightly better. Both require a total reset of the system to even begin diagnosing any problems. A home made pc has trouble you can't fix, you can go to the local pc shop, which I'll take over any big corporation anyday. With any of the big brands it's easier to just buy the extended warranty, with the home-made pc's I never needed such "insurance". There's a big money saver too... Too bad I mostly use laptops these days ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. I think all jumpers probably drift all over the sky while learning actually, I know I do when I try it on my own (I'm not much of a freeflyer). I think you're much better off with a coach or good freeflyer regardless of jump numbers. But higher jump numbers = more awareness of the fact that you ARE moving, I guess. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. How about starting in a sit? With a coach or someone that can fall straight down? No way he can fall straight down at 100 jumps in a sit. Learn THAT first. If you move too much in a hd (and I can assure you he WILL), stuff like this can happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEtPxivFQyE ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. I also agree with that "good skydiver" . ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Its a fine pc. Some things I would change: 2GB ram instead of 1, and a separate extra hd. I cant tell if it has got firewire though?!? Dont think so, so youd need a pci firewire card too. ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. It's called groundlaunching, look in the canopy control forum. ciel bleu, Saskia
