  1. Who does? Saskia has a hybrid Tri but doesn't jump it for wingsuits I don't think, Bassie of course has the freepacked Lightning, but this particular setup I haven't seen, not in Holland. Hans Schoeber does. I have jumped mine for wingsuit but just 1 or 2 times. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. I got one as well, and we have a few on our dz as demo jump canopies and to learn crw on. Pity no one seems to like them; I've had mine for sale for ages... Problem is, they pack big, so your rig has to allow for that. Mine doesn't really, hence the reason it's for sale. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. It depends on which rig, which size and which canopies. For example we have a lot of Atom size 00 here. These can hold a Merit 170 (older F111/ZP canopy) and go down to a ZP120 safely. Airlocked 107 would also work. But the reserve is a 128-115 so the combo Merit 170 + Techno 128 doesn't look too smart to me although we have quite a few of those. Another example: a Voodoo container is really only made for one size canopy only, it doesn't close nicely (or it closes too nice!) with any other size. Anyway, try to avoid having to pack a too big main into your container when you're just learning to pack, you'll regret it! ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Definately get a dual core processor, my laptop is now quite fast when rendering, even if it is "just" a laptop
  5. Not something I did, but very funny: When one of the FS4 teams was climbing out and getting ready to exit during Nationals this year, there suddenly was an extra hand on the floaters bar and an extra head looking out. While the surprised vidiot was trying to figure out what he was seeing, the team jumped, with him leaving too late. Turns out, a visiting jumper had wedged himself in between the team, trying to look out to see what was going on during a competition Or maybe he was helping them to spot Anyway the team was cool about it, although the vidiot was somewhat embarrased, and the "extra" jumper was so sorry about the whole thing that he paid for a rejump for the entire team! Another nugget: The airport is going to make our runway longer. We have a van that picks us up from the other side of the runway, there's a road going around the airport. When the runway is lengthened, that road will have to go. So, how will we get from the landing area to the hangar? The "next" road is much further. Maybe we'll be allowed to drive on the airport instead of around it, maybe not. Suggestion from one of our chief instructors: "Why not build an overpass over the runway?" It took him a loooong time to figure out that that might not be a very good idea, although the stunt planes might enjoy it ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. OK so you mean, in FRANCE the Argus is grounded? France is not the whole world ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. I had one on a sabre 135... non-clearable so chopped it. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Yes they do. Cypres has a single cutting edge (bolt cutter), Argus has 2 (cylindrical cutter). Don't know about Vigil. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. Do a search about that one, there are a couple threads about intentional cutaways, it's reasons, and it's dangers. ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. Gained altitude - yeas, in turbulent conditions this has happened before. Picked up under/in a cloud, and thermals when it's hot, esp with big student-type mains. But probably not on purpose The acro paragliding comp I saw in Norway this year was held from a helicopter, saw some weird openings there! Also there are some skydiving mains with some paraglider characteristics, they were banned from swoop (distance) competitions I think ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. I tried TRV25/16, TRV-something-old, PC-something-old, PC106/109. With premiere 6,7 pro 1, 1.5, 2.0 All no go. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. It's not as bad as it was with DV. If you shoot in HDV and edit in HDV, it might be worth it.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. this is strange because firewire does not care which signal to carry - it's just a cable once again - if you firewire say to another camera, your 350 does send PAL but does not send NTCS? You can't output DV NTSC using a DV PAL camera, however you can usually record and view it just fine on the camera itself (the feature "NTSC playback"). You need to capture the footage using a NTSC camera. I did manage to capture HDV NTSC through a HDV PAL camera, but with HDV the difference is only the framerate not the size. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. I'm sending it to a camera repair guy I got referred to by the seller no less. He seems to be a well known and well regarded guy though. He said he needs to see the lens first before he can tell me more. Keeping my fingers crossed.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Well my el-cheapo Sigma 18-55 mm makes a lot of noise now when zooming, it's starting to break apart, and that after only 4 jumps with it, and the zoom ring taped too. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. 't werd tijd ciel bleu, Saskia

    How stupid?

My first balloon jump ever was with a S3 and a camera Also from 6k/2000m. I sat on the edge and just dropped off, perfectly stable all the way. Made for a boring video Ah read over the "first wingsuit jump" part.... Yeah, that's stupid. Need to go back to work now..... ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Felix. And for the rigid parts, loads of birdman have died already as said before, the soft wings are the evolution of rigid (part or whole) wings, not the other way round. I don't see mylar ribwise as "stiff" as the wing is still totally collapsible. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Seller claims the moisture must've gotten in during shipping and advises to leave the lens without lens caps for a while. Right.... Guess I'm stuck with it. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. No weight limit in relation to size, however there is a weight limit the gear will hold. Ask your DZ about what that weight limit is. For our DZ, it's 100kg (220 lbs), some DZ's have a slightly lower limit or a higher one if they have special gear. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. That's what I said right? Those early birds all had variations of rigid wings. Wingsuiting only became "safe" (and allowed again!) with the invention of soft wings. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Update: I just talked to Sigma, they say the lens is a writeoff. Moisture in lens means the lens is total anyway, and for this particular lens they cannot supply replacement parts anymore. Still no response from seller ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. In freefall, you don't want image stabilisation anyway ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. Most of the people with rigid wings died... Why mess with rigids wings, when soft wings are safer, and, you're flying YOURSELF. ciel bleu, Saskia
