  1. Did you pay $1500 for your gear? For the main and reserve, for both rigs, yeah about that. But gear is more expensive here ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. I jump containers and reserves that old, no problem (got plenty of rides on 'em too). The main and the reserve, don't load them above 1.0. Hey, it's cheap starter gear, if the sizes are ok for you and you don't have an immediate career in freeflying planned, why not. Saves you a lot of money for jumping. Plenty of people here have swift reserves (and a lot have the 5 cell swifts too), they're ok reserves even if most americans don't seem to like them You won't lose much money on this rig, renting is expensive, although maybe try and get a little off the price. It's better to have older gear and be able to jump than have state-of-the-art gear that matches your jumpsuit but no cash left.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Well I chickened out on a stadium demo jump a month ago, and my replacement did jump a vengeance 120. Usually the rule for this yearly demo is "no hp canopies" (and the definition of that varies, my spectre 135 would be considered hp here) but he knows that canopy so that counted in his favour and he did do well. However this guy has a bunch of jumps plus a bunch of jumps with that canopy plus a bunch of demo jumps plus a bunch of 90's. In your situation, I'm amazed the organisers would even let him jump a hp canopy (presuming vengeance/samurai not lotus) into a stadium AT ALL. Or it may just be that I'm a wuss ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. I have/had that on both my rigs, even after doubling the webbing on one, now both are stitched and the problem went away Now no one can borrow my rigs anymore LOL. Both are older PDF Atom's. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Picture quality has nothing to do with that. If you want to use a really really really fast shutter speed the 20D can go twice as fast as the 350D, but I don't know anyone that uses a shutterspeed faster than 1/1000 for skydiving... Maybe pick up a book about photography, to help you understand the basics, before making a couple hunderd dollars decision? ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Any pictures of x-shut cameracondoms? ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Why sure! A Lightening and a Triathlon come to mind easily...what in the world are YOU thinking? We usually jump lightnings at 1.3-1.5. Others jump tri's at 2.0. I've seen the 2.0 guys chicken out on landing a diamond, well the wings did I've seen plenty of 2stack landings on the lightnings. But no way am I landing a 4way on a lightning 126 at 1.3! That's what i mean with modern canopies. SMALL canopies... ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. I did do 2 night jumps, but I'm pretty nightblind. The first nightjump I did was a tandem (yeah I know, no rules against it here though) to see if I could SEE, the next I did a solo, and landed 10 km out (mostly because of way too much wind). Did i learn anything from that? Yeah, to be careful if it's dusk, and I already knew that ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. Would you do that with todays canopies? Although I totally agree with some CRW experience. As a matter of fact since a few years you need to do 5 CRW jumps for your C here in The Netherlands. ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. Separate, and google for it. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. I'm thinking you'd still need to do about the same, in premiere, to get the effect you want... ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. That avi is huge because it is uncompressed. To get it online you need to compress it, aka it will lose quality. Depending on what you want, you can use premiere to export it as a wmf, or get the divx codec and use that (mainly useful for large video quality files). Quicktime is also an option but I can never get the sound right, and I hate realmedia, myself. Check the export options in premiere. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. Yes I jump with a (modern) AAD. Reason: why not? I have jumped without, esp when planning a downplane. But for all other crw jumps having one isn't going to hinder me in any way and can only help me if I'm too low with too much speed for some reason or another. I do not buy the "if we're in a wrap we'll handle it ourselves" line bacause if you're that low with that much speed, you fucked up majorly and do not have enough time to fix things yourself so more fabric = better. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. LOL yeah the one time I had to cut away my spectre because it was over the horizon with a few twists and I was lowish already, I actually yelled at it while pulling the cutaway: "Hey! You're a SPECTRE! Don't do that!" That was one of the few jumps without camera though ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Guess why most swoopers are using digitals Don't confuse precision with accuracy. I don't. However, the Neptune for instance appears to really be that accurate
  16. If you bend your legs, chances are you're also speading them. This creates a huge burble behind you because of the open legwing. Keep your legs together, don't bend them so much, to avoid this. The solution for a pilotchute in the burble: go back to full flight immediately (don't look). This will cause a full-flight opening (ie, brisk, not losing much altitude). You can always open this way (base-jumpers do) if you want, it will prevent this situation. Most people however find an in between since they don't like the brisk openings, but still open with some forward speed. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. We had that with a new student canopy .The cat's eyes just needed to set, because they were very round they were too wide for the slider to pass easily. After while they will strech out a bit and the problem will probably go away. ciel bleu, Saskia

  19. I know of canopies where the middle cell was replaced, as this is usually the first cell that's worn (from packing). It was apperantly worth it for stiletto's with 1000-2000 jumps So yeah it can be done, not sure if Aerodyne does it though. and buying another Tri might be cheaper (but chances are you end up with pink cells again...) ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. I usually do business like that, it helps if you can tell the seller is "known" on dropzone.com ie posts here a lot and people seem to know him/her. It's a pretty small world.... I sell and buy quite a lot this way and have never gotten burned
  21. You have no clue what canopy you're flying yet you're sure you'll be fine. Sure. Go away. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. You jump it and you don't KNOW? It's an elliptical HP canopy, a 135 is already very small for your low jumpnumer, let alone a hp canopy! Here are some reviews: http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Detailed/64.html ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. De pagina was leeg. Hoe zegt je "tease" in nederlands? ;) Kunt je het adres a.u.b. controleren? Zei ik alles dat goed? :) Groetjes... "Tease" we get Translation, "plagen". "Kun je" "Zei ik alles goed" Pretty good The page is no longer empty though
  24. Save the pic to your pc then check the properties. In this case: Canon EOS 350D, f/5.6, 1/640 sec, ISO 100, 200mm. ciel bleu, Saskia
  25. It just gives me a blank page? ciel bleu, Saskia
