  1. I just converted some of JP's footage from the Hercules Boogie from NTSC to PAL last night. If you use the standard Microsoft DV (firewire) capture. In the capture settings, go to the firewire settings. You can put those on PAL (or NTSC, whatever you want to capture) You'll still encounter some problems with the different number of fields/lines in the image, but you can easely solve those by deinterlacing the footage. Some small skipping migh occur (due to the different frame-rate) but there's several ways to also get rid of that if it disturbes you. I didn't need the audio on the NTSC footage, so I just used the frames 1:1. Which means that 10 minutes of 30 fps NTSC footage, becomes (slightly slower) 12 minute 25fps PAL footage. No skipped frames, and a 'free' slight slowmo...which (in skydiving footage) doesn't hurt :) On PAL to NTSC that would ofcource become slightly sped-up footage...which is less-desirable Using frame-blending or a retimer plugin in a package like After Effects works wonderfull if you want to keep the org. speed (so the audio still matches up) but there's tons of other options to get rid of the difference in frame-rates. Just play around..see what works best for you... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Easy 'low tech' way (if you don't have a DV camera or any other line-outs on your PC) Get a CD-R/DVD-R burning program (Nero/Easy CD creator), and select VideoCD, or SuperVideo CD as the CD type. Then drag your avi/mpg/wmv or whatever into the program, and select BURN!! (Nero converts it to a VCD standard MPG, but for better results use an external encoder such as TMPEG Enc) You now have a VideoCD or SuperVideoCD that plays in your DVD player (who hasn't got one now-a-days?) Just hook that one up to your VCD and hit record.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. I've been to one of the outdoor-tunnels (baggy suits, inflatable matras all around) once before I actualy started freefalling (was still on staticline). And although everything went okay, in hindsight I could also see potential problems with people flipping onto the matras headfirst, with their body getting flipped 'over' you when they get thrown out, causing your neck to fold into nasty poses. 5. You'll be going down faster then you normaly would (on your belly) Your gear will take wind on other angles as usual (angles that will have the wind try and open your main and/or reserve flap) No matter what other people decide or tell you.. YOU should think about what is smart, and if you want to do this or not. No matter what other people tell you, if you think it's not safe and you feel uncomfortable doing so...don't do it.. The chance to do a Horny gorrila will always be there...also 2 years down the line when you might have other/safer gear for instance... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. I heard some talk about "Bigway Invitationals" that Jari was planning around december. Think you could try mail him for details.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  8. On the Hercules Boogie there where a couple of jumps that started out with streamers (the plastic red/white construction line) and seeing those things turn into a thousand tiny pieces that scream by the cameraflyer was certainly fun :) No entanglement danger there, since they turned to crap and where gone around opening altitude :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Do you have some more info on the intended use? Is it for a commercial DVD For something that will be free for Download A Television show (and local or nation/world wide?) For commercial use, or personal use? And just for single use or complete ownership of the footage? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Does anyone have any good (bigger then LouDiamonds thumbnail:) pictures of a good backflying position. Been doing a lot of birdman jumps lately, and started playing with barrelrolls/flips and backflying in my S3. I can fly stable on my back, but still need to be a bit feet/leg-high to prevent myself from going headdown. pushing my leg-wing down to a flat (or even de-arched) possition throws me toward a dive (on my back) I'm basicly flying as the attached sketch (yes I was bored:)) I think the problem is in me trying to keep the arm-wing tight (and thereby just stretching my arms out without pushing my elbows 'up') But a good picture of 'how it should be done' would be great! 11. just a burner works best on a DZ I think...(since everyone can use it, as if it where a normal VCR, no PC knowledge needed) If you go with a PC option...get Adobe Premiere Pro You can burn your project to a DVD straight from the timeline (without any other additional programs) File>Export Timeline>Burn to DVD JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. I can recommend this! Been there last year (sadly only had time for 1 day of jumping) but the friendly people, waaaay cheep jump prices and nice An28 where awesome... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Hey Vesa I was in the hospital for a week and at home for another one and wasn't allowed to touch a computer by my friends and loved ones... I've went with 4 or 5 hours sleep (max) every night (and skipped a few nights way to often) for about 2 years now, and my heart freaked out a bit. I collapsed in a friends car with chest pains Luckely nothing damaged, and aside from getting more sleep everything should be fine and dandy... So I sleep every night nowadays...(cool concept..sleep!!:)) But the coming week and weekend are dedicated to editing again (and sleeping...yes...sleeping too, I'll remember), and finishing the boogie DVD asap. The Dutch crew already had a small preview of the finished parts..I'll make sure the rest of the world gets to see the stellar flying that was done by you and all the other birds in Sweden in as short a time as possible! 14. I just get a white page after clicking 'speel af' on any of the vids tho... I see the video when I click em here... At the end of the season I'll try and 'drop by' Ameland again with a gang of friends! We had a blast last time we where there.... And glad you guys like Ghostrider The whole coming weekend I'll be editing on the Herc Boogie video again (been out of it for a few weeks sadly, was a bit sick and stuff) But as soon as it's done the DVD's will be sent to all the Herc Boogie Birdmen, and the video will also appear online for everyone who wants to see... 16. http://www.bird-man.com/ has just posted our fun skydive/birdman video-project Ghostrider (We made it specialy for the Hercules Boogie 2004) You can see it at http://www.bird-man.com/?n=ghostrider Hope you guys like it!! (I know this is Birdman specific, but I figured/hope more people then just wingsuiters might like this one) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Cool, but somehow the slogan "Are you man enough for Harikiri" doesn't sound right... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. The rider deploying in a burble is not what would worry me the most... The thought that a person deploying on my back might catch a foot, hand or piece of his gear/suit behind a wing/piece of my rig/body and then get ripped of by his deploying main (breaking/teariring something on my rig/suit/body) scares me much, much more.. 23. Even though a lot of these project sound verry exciting, when I saw felix baumbarter with that wing on his back, and the idea of adding engines and so on I just can't help but wonder.. Why not just put a harnas under a C182 and strap 'a plane on your back' At what point is the limit in terms of 'having something on your back' and 'hanging from it'? With wingsuits, the human body still makes up most of the airframe, but a lot of those rigid (be it inflatable) wings have more in common with airplanes then they do with 'human (body)flight' JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

    Pull Time

The only problem I have at pulltime is that my dytter doesnt have a Snooze button... I always pull at normal altitude, but when it's realy flying well...I'm always tempted to think 'ahh...just a few seconds more...' JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
