  1. 1,5 hours of driving...I do that every weekend (passing two other wat-closer-to-home DZ's in the process hehehe) And sometimes even further...Just put some heavy music on, and dream about jumping...you'll be there in no-time.. why waste jump-money on a whuffo to come along? Drive by yourself, and save the 'tandem-cash' from everytime you go alone...you'll have money for your own gear in no-time :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. I've sold my DVD player! But I had 2 DVD players, so that doesn't count I gues...? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. Exporting uncompressed video is pretty useless, as only few PC's are capable of playing uncompressed video. And a 10 minute video would probably take up your 80 gig Harddrive A better (easyer) option would be to use export>adobe premiere MPEG encoder, and export you video to an MPEG2 file (or use an MPEG2 or MPG1 external encoder) Then you can burn it on a DVD or burn it on a normal CD as an VideoCD or S-VCD (depending on how you encoded it) For saving as an .avi without loosing quality, and be able to playback and export to your camera. select and Avi, and then in the tab 'video-codecs' choose the DV codec your capture-board or fire-wire card uses. Comon ones are...Microsoft DV/Fast DV?Miro DC30 MJPEG/or use any other software MJPEG codec (PicVideo is a good one) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

    OUCH!

Maybe a silly question, but why didn't you just ask him to stay at the landing-point, and judge his accuracy AFTER you both safely landed at the DZ? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Could be that you are exporting as an uncompressed AVI, which tends to be HUGE in filesize, and usualy quits after it reaches 1 or 2 gigs..? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Hey Quade....is youz a fellow animator/compositor/fx-geek? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Rawa builds helmets specific to your camera when you order. Better post (or move) this to the camera-forum. This is one for the camera-folks... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Sorry...not posting any video of that JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. What a great weekend, It already started with a nice date on friday-evening On saterday I made my first 2 camera-jumps, and filmed a co-worker of mine on his fourth Staticline-jump. I'm soo happy with how the video's turned out. Here's some stills for you to enjoy :):) On sunday I did 3 great birdman-jumps to top the weekend off.. And this coming friday...a balloon-jump!! Boy, my life sucks...hehehe One thing is for sure...filming is sooo cool :):) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Skydive Texel (Holland) is also growing rapidly in Freefly. They are also hosting quite a few skills-camps this year (with flyboys/babylon attending for coaching jumps and stuff) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

    MP3 on an A

If there is a strong magenetical buildup on the A, there's a good chance you'll come down with a nice clean (un)formated Ipod, and no mp3's left.... Ipod uses a normal HD inside right? I'd make sure you backup your, eh..cd-backups before you try it :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Wheeeeeeeeee!! Just found out that I passed my (Dutch) C licence exam...I"M SOOOO HAPPY!! Free virtual beers for eveyone (or you're welcome to swing by holland and pick it up live ofcource:)) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Am I alone when I think that chopping a canopy with your finger caught in the steering-line could be a painful exercise (taking the term 'chopping' a bit literally) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. It was on my 'old rig' (new one should arive next week or so:):)) and the line is held in place by velcro, I think I'm not making the loops too big. It's only about 1, maybe 1,5 cm...but I gues that was enough to poke a finger into.. Not sure how the breaklines are stowed on my new rig (vortex II) but something to watch for the future...thanx... 15. A couple of jumps ago (after doing a 4 way RW dive with video) my chute opened, I checked around for other jumpers, and after that released my toggles from the brake-setting. But while doing this my right hand got caught in a loop/knot that pulled tightly around my middle-finger. The line had somehow formed a sort of loop that just managed to catch my finger. I think I put my finger 'in' the stored break-line, when releasing it, but I'm not sure how it happened. I tried to pull my finger out, but it only pulled it in tighter. As I needed my other hand to release it (it hurt like hell), I had to let my left toggle go, which started a slow turn. Luckily the other people on the jump had noticed me as I was wrestling my hand out, and everyone was a nice distance away and had had nice on-heading openings. But still...I think it could be dangerous if it happened again..in case of an emergency (potential collision) steering with a hurting finger is always an option ofcource... I've never experienced this before, and since then sorta pay extra care to grab my toggles with all fingers clear of the stowed break-line... I also tried to 'catch' my finger in there again on the ground, but couldn't succeed in doing so... But I'm curious...has anyone ever had this happen too? And if so..what might be the cause.. Is it just Darwin at work (just getting 'lucky' poking my finger in there) or is it a packing-error I might have made? Any views or similar experiences on this? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Aahh...you PUSSIES!!! Come to europe and pay the full 25 euro's (+-30 dollars) for 12.500 ft I wish we would come even close to your 18 to 20 dollar prices... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Our DZ is surrounded by trees (sorta in the like a footballfield in the middle of a small forrest...lotsa 'real skydivers' at our DZ I gues....hehe JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. I also just did my first tandem last weekend..quite wierd after doing so many jumps on my own. But realy cool....15.000 ft of fun with Jean-Louis Becker as a TM...and congrats to him for getting his rating :) Got a bit of a sick feeling in my stomache from the canopy-ride though.. 19. >your eyeballs and a back up altimeter is what you need I personaly can't tell the excact difference between 4000 ft or 4500 by just eyeballing...when at pull-altitude (3000-ish) it gets easyer to judge altitude, but I think the higher you get, it gets harder and harder to stay within a 500ft accurate altitude... I think the whole eyeballing comment is a bit overrated... I think it's more of an internal clock think, and people who totaly rule the skies with over a gazillion jumps probably have such an accurate internal clock, that no matter what altitude..they could probably break-off at the correct altitude with their eyes closed if they had to, or back-tracking (not seeing mother earth) or whatever... But aside from that...I've had my wrist-alti give me wrong readings once or twice due to a nasty bump against the door on exit once, and once more when the needle had unbeknownst to me came lose....while my audible has always worked without a glitch. And I've seen one or two wrist/chest alti's on other folks that where off quite a bit when we where at 4000/5000 ft (in the plane). Granted, those where busted up student/rental altimeters, but in the plane Audible beeps always seem to come at excactly the same time... I'm quite curious to which alti (audible/digital, or mechanical analogue) performs more accurate... I'm leaning more towards the first one... Although forgetting to turn it on when its in econemy-mode could be a realy big problem if use it a a primary altimeter I think...(happened to me once or twice, but wasnt a problem..I'm more of a wrist orriented person anyways...and don't take that as a sexual comment please) Any thoughts on this??? 20. Wow...I gues you posted this to show off your new wide-angle lens? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Congratulations on your 19th Birthday dude!!!
  22. DOOD!! I just ordered my new rig last week (vortexII) and it's a 99% copy of the design/colors of your first design...we should start a team JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. Riding a Harley is like owning a rig from the 1920's. It's cool, but you don't actualy want to do some serious jumping with it :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. I have a Yamaha Virago (750), realy like it a lot. But I'm thinking about buying a Yamaha V-Max next year. My dad has one, and I realy love that machine...it looks cool, drives fast, and even better.....its not made out of plastic The V-Boost system on that bike makes it accelerate at an insane level...no matter what speed you are driving...
