I went to Perris for the POPs world record without a log book, haven't kept one for about 1100 jumps or so. They didn't ask for my protrack, just filled out a copy of a log book page with my jump #'s and date of last jump. The video is no big deal either and educational about the DZ landing areas and where to avoid. The people there are extremely nice and helpful although a little anal about flying over the runway. Other than not having good packing area, it's a pleasant DZ to go to. Melanie ex-Conatser is a real sweetheart also making you really feel at home!

What container for a Xaos?
jumperconway replied to chileanXaos's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
My Xaos 21-88' fit fine in my Jav. RS. Now my 27-79' Xaos packs a truckload bigger, but I still get it in the RS D-bag in my Mirage MX. -
I own 2 of these swoop machines, an 85'with 1000ish jumps and a newer 88' with 200ish jumps on it. The 88 is the nicest opening canopy I've ever jumped and that's saying a lot because I jumped a Crossfire 1-99'before I bought the 85. The front riser pressure on both are very managable compared to the Velocity and the FX. It is a ground hungry parachute but can stay up with much bigger canopies on rears or brakes on a long spot. You must be careful with these X-braced canopies because of the long recovery arc but that is by design. I highly recommend this canopy for experienced jumpers that want to swoop or shoot camera. The bottom end flare is only outdone by 27 cell canopies in my opinion! If you have the skills to fly this, you won't be disappointed! Next, the Xaos 27!

Congrats Jeff, Welcome to our little world! You are now in a minority! Listen hard, practice hard, jump hard and land soft! -
Velocity's slider and RWS Risers

I'd bet PD will send another on with the big grommets. Contact Kolla. She'll send you in the right direction. My Crossfire slider was like that. -
VX vs Xaos-27 - which is better all around??
jumperconway replied to Swoopthereitis's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
from a previous post http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=786859#786859 Pro packed the Xvx and had a good packer try and tame it. Successful once! -
QuoteI never saw a single Onyx prototype that didn't open like a bomb. Now Chuck, haven't you read the advertisements? It's a Cobalt, right? Couldn't have openings harder than warm butter!

Cascaded HMA, but they change linesets very frequently. Chuck, My understanding is that cascading HMA wears it real quick. One of the reasons Precision chose not to cascade them. I also like the fact that they went to spectra steering lines! -
Helicopter at Skydive Houston

Don't know enough to post it there. Name, age, jump #s,W/L Did a H/P on a load I was on, straight in approach about 500' when he crossed midway across the run way and apparently got fixated on the hay bales at the northeast side of the landing area, barely flared in front of the bale then hammered the ground then the bale and bounced backwards. -
My idea (at my dz) is if the plane flies, I fly. I jump a pretty high W/L X-braced and have had little problem with high winds or gusts but our landing area is huge and it's easy to stay away from rotors from trees and the hangar. I've been on a load where the wind got real tubulent around the main landing area, after I landed a lady on our jump came in behind me flying a straight in approach and I heard her canopy go "schwack" twice over my head as her lightly loaded saber/stilletto collapsed and reinflated less than 50 ft of the ground. She stayed down a load until the winds came down a bit.

Should post to "introductions and greetings" but welcome.

Can everyone spell "S T O N E B R U I S E"? Landed out once in a bad field and my bootties and tennis shoes saved a bloody mess through the stickers and mud! Second note, a good stone/heal bruise can make landings pretty painful for weeks.

VX vs Xaos-27 - which is better all around??
jumperconway replied to Swoopthereitis's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I jump 3 Xaos's, a 79'-27 2.3+/1, an 85'21 and 87'21 with about 500 jumps on the 3 of them. I've jumped VX's albeit not new ones and the openings left alot to be desired. Front riser pressure is twice that of the Xaos' and I found the VX to be much twitchier. All my Xaos' open extremely nice and if you are buying new, you'll love the extra silicone coating on the new Xaos'. -
Interesting dream a couple of weeks back; I go from a totally different dream, nothing about jumping then I'm in freefall, throw out and felt the harness just go away! Immediately woke up sitting up in a cold sweat. What's interesting about the dream is that I check my chest strap at least a half dozen times before ever getting close to the door!

Thanks Dan, That actually clears up this whole thread!!!!!!!!! So why the anger at the dz instead of his friends? Yo friends, the dude's 2.5 or so miles away, can you walk out there so he doesn't have to walk all the way back by himself?

What if no one saw him? I asked questions earlier that would have cleared up some of the questions but no response.
