There used to be a DZ in Granbury TX where I spent most weekends. Most of the local gas stations wouldn't sell me beer with a Lousianna license, a Canadian license OR my Canadian passport. They said that a TX ID or military ID was necessary according to TX law. The local chief of police was a jumper at that DZ and said that was bullshit, but I still had only two or three choices in town where I could buy beer on a regular basis. I got nuthin

I'm going to Mexico City next weekend and a friend of mine wants to make her first tandem (and I wanna get a few jumps in too). I've been trying to find a DZ close but no luck. I've seen Skydive Cuautla but my emails get bounced back and I can't get through on either of the numbers listed on their webpage. Does anybody know if Cuautla is still running or if there's another DZ around DF? I got nuthin

Angel Falls and Skdive Venezuela were definitely on my mind when I moved there, but with so much work and the National Guard making travel such a hassle it didn't really happen. I think I've got 13 jumps at SKV in the past 2 years. My boss wrote back I got nuthin

I've written a few times on here bitching about my job, or where it has taken me anyways. I really like my job but hate living in Venezuela. I just wrote an email to my boss requesting a transfer to a new operation we're starting up in Mexico. He's in the process of a promotion but for the next two months he's recruiting people and eqiupment for the new Mexico ops so I figured this was the time to make my intentions known. It's just an email, but I feel a huge load off my chest to let the boss-man know that I'm really hating it there and after more then two years I'm hoping to move somewhere where "I can walk outside after sunset without fear of getting robbed, and work with management that has a little more foresight with respect to maintenance as opposed to operating on a philosophy of running their tools, equipment and people into the ground before reacting." I don't know if using such strong words was a good idea, but fuck it! In the past two years I've saved up enough to tide me over until I find a new job, and I'm tired of all the shit that flies in that fucked up country. I got nuthin

:1:0 Only got one jump but it was out at Skydive Dallas where I haven't jumped in almost 2 years and it was FRICK'N AWESOME to get out there and see those folks again! Also a friend of mine from Venezuela is here and she's wanted to jump for a long time but we havne't been able to get out to Skydive Ven so she made her first jump at SDD this afternoon.

Is anybody familiar with DZs in Mexico? I'm going to be passing through the country's finer shitty oilfield towns and dragging my rig along for the ride. I've been to the Dropzone listing but don't recognize any of the cities. I'll be hitting up Reynosa (across the bridge to super-south TX, McAllen), Villahermosa and Carmen (Not Playa del Carmen).
