Can you surf the .com at work? I live in fear of the day when the 'websense' message comes up as I'm trying to get my skydiving fix from work. It's bad enough that there's all these threads with links to youtube that everybody's talking about but I can't see. The Foo is pretty tight with Jack Black. Jack Black/Tenacious D are in a few Foo videos, and if I'm not mistaken Grohl occasionally plays drums for Tenacious D. Another awesome thing about these guys, they've got a helluva sense of humor and don't take themselves too seriously I got nuthin

Funny I guess, but if you break it down there's only two path's out of the 'grunge' way of life. Grohl took the path of maturing, and luckily evolved into an even better all-around musician. Cobain took another way. I dunno about mainstream rock, maybe I should've said 'mainstream music'...As far as rock goes, Joe Satriani finished up his set in Mexico City about an hour ago and I'm gonna be kicking myself for a while that I didn't spend $200 for a plane ticket and tell my boss that I'll be out till tomorrow. I've been on the road for about 3 months and I've got two big bags packed to the nuts. 100lbs give or take between the two. That's my skydiving gear and clothes that'll work for a corporate office or swinging pipe wrenches in the mud, sweating my ass off beside the Amazon or freezing my balls off in Bogotá (Bogota's over 8000'MSL, it sucks sitting in the back of the doorless Caravan at 7am leaving El Dorado). Yeah, I know you said not to post this but it was only a matter of time before somebody didRELAX!!! You got some very good advice from posters above and one thing to add is to keep your head up and follow the plane after exit. After you've got a nice stable launch from the techniques explained above, arch and relax and feel the wind. Feeling how the wind flows around your body will help develop the skills you need to control your body by manipulating the flow of the wind around it... And if you're swimming, you're not relaxed I got nuthin

Once you know how to pack, you can just stuff your shit into your gear bag after the last jump Sunday and get straight on to saying goodbyes, having one last beer with everybody before going back to the real world, whatever. That way it's less work on Sunday, and you can pack during the week which will give you something skydiving-related to do before going back to the DZ. I always figured that if I wasted 10 minutes of my time packing on Sunday evening and then died in a wreck on the way home, that 10 minutes would've been wasted on a pack job I wouldn't get to use I got nuthin

Take a day next weekend and go hang out at the DZ. Watch some more people skydive and talk to skydivers. I started when I was 18 and a starving college student, I had to pack a LOT of parachutes to get my first 100 jumps in but it was so worth it I got nuthin

Recently I've done a lot of jumps in planes that don't have doors. A few weeks ago 7 of us were crammed into a U-206 without a door OR seatbelts. I got myself wedged into the doorframe as well as I could and just held on like a motherfucker till 1500'. The whole time I was mentally telling the pilot 'All left turns, no right turns, all left turns' I got nuthin

Aircraft type is a huge factor at Cessna DZs. Most C-206 don't fly worth a shit above about 7K. A Cessna will get you to 13K, but it's not really worth it if you're going 100fpm for the last 3000ft. I got nuthin
