When I was in college I spent a while working two jobs to support my jumping. I was running on about 20 hours of sleep a week. Then I'd go to the DZ and pack student gear. There's nothing like coming out of Denny's at 7am saturday morning after washing dishes all night, getting a shower then hitch-hiking to the DZ. I'm glad I finished school though I got nuthin

I'd let both my Canadian and US licenses expire without noticing. I got a Venezuelan license when I was living there, but for 'gringos' the license is only a piece of paper with your name on it and isn't worth much outside of the country. A few months ago I got a Mexican license. I never really checked it out when they gave it to me. A few weeks ago I gave it to the bouncer when he asked me for ID and realized that the date of birth is '89 insteat of '81. I looked at it a little closer and realized that I'm not Roger Archibald born Sept. 23 1981, but Roger Archibaldo, born Sept. 23, 1989. I'm not sure if they were fucking with me or just incompetent I got nuthin

From what I've seen jumping from Canada-Argentina and a few points in between, the US is where it's at for planes, facilities and safety. That said, there's some cool shit to see in the 'less refined' DZ's of the world. Taxiing out of El Dorado in Bogota with my leg hanging out of the door-less Caravan and looking at a 737 behind us in the cue was cool. I got nuthin

Skydive Dallas has a real nice setup and it's free. It's nothing luxurious, but you get what you pay for and people are generally in chilled there. Skydive San Marcos is $10/night and super-comfy. I got nuthin

I haven't had one in years. I want to have some friends over for one on Saturday, but I can't find a propane burner. I'd prefer to find a 'Fried Turkey Kit', but if I can find the burner then I can get the rest of the shit from Walmart. I live just across the border from McAllen TX and usually by the time I can get into the US, Walmart's the only thing open. McAllen's got all of the big stores (Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot etc..), and if I can get Saturday afternoon free I can start searching, but I'd like to shorten up the search. Anybody know where a guy should start looking for a propane burner? So far I've only checked Walmart but no luck. I got nuthin

I work in Wireline and we run tools on an electo-mechanical wire from the back of a truck down into oilwells to do various things down there, depending on the service we're giving the client. The wire comes off the back of the truck, and goes through a pulley called a sheave that's attached to the ground. From that pulley it goes to another sheave mounted over the hole and then straight down into the well. The classic prank for fucking with newbies is to get them to 'calibrate the sheave'. There is no calibration at all for this, aside from safety inspections every X months. We had a guy quit last week because somebody videoed him 'calibrating the sheave' and put it on youtube. Once you're hooked, you need to jump as often as you can possibly afford. If I remember correctly, if you're student or 'A' license, you have to jump every 30 days in order to be able to jump without doing a re-currency jump with a coach/instructor. Are you asking because you're worried that you'll have to go long intervals without jumping? I got nuthin -
The iPod docking stations are getting pretty cheap. I've got an iLuv alarm clock, a big JBL On Stage for my kitchen and a smaller JBL for work. JBL makes a quality product and it's surprising how much sound you get out of those little fuckers! I got nuthin
