Another Ft. Hood skydiver here! I'm an Army contractor, not a Soldier though. The closest place to you is Skydive Temple, which is a great place. Another dropzone around is Skydive 35; it's 1 hr 15 mins north on I-35. Either place is great!!! http://3ringnecklace.com/

I too have been thinking of starting a "mystery bruises" thread. For the last month or so of jumping, I have been getting bruises on the inside of my left thigh. There are always in the same spot. They most certainly come from skydiving, but there isn't anything that I can recall causing them while jumping. It is so strange! No, it isn't caused by my leg straps and there aren't any collisions. The only thing I can think of is when I climb out into the camera step, my left leg is plastered against the door frame right before I swing it out into the wind. Hmmmm.....
