  6. I don't know the whole situation so I can only comment on what I have learned thus far... ...sounds to me like they are very charasmatic and they have taken advantage of your trust. Does this person have any psychological disorders? You mentioned that "he is so up and down." This is indicative of bipolar disorder. But I can't just to any conclusions because of my limited knowledge of the situation. This could be a VERY dangerous situation that is beyond friendship, and may even lead to stalking. If I were you I would cut off all relations with this person and take a self-defense class. Seriously- be careful. http://3ringnecklace.com/

  8. As a former packer, I can say with confidence that this is SO TRUE!! I will also say that packers are more likely to pack for you again if you tip. Otherwise they may pass you on to someone else, maybe to a packer who is just starting to pack and they are not that good (and they don't know any better).... ...I'm just sayin'. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  9. Where to start? Good habit to have: - being proactive about closing loop length - two words: GEAR CHECK - asking BEFORE you make a mistake - practicing braked turns - being ok with grounding yourself even when others are jumping (ie high winds) Most important: A bad habit to avoid-> sleeping with your rigger's wife! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  10. I HATE IT WHEN GUYS HOLD THE DOOR OPEN FOR ME!!!!! I have arms. I know how a door operates. I can do it myself. Even when I was on crutches I would get the door myself. I know people are just trying to be nice, so I just smile and walk through. But I don't say thanks though. I know that makes me rude, but they are being rude to me, so it all evens out??? http://3ringnecklace.com/

  17. Airtwardo - you're freakin' hilarious!!! I guess the real question is not when do you consider yourself a skydiver- the real question is when do you consider yourself an experienced skydiver? http://3ringnecklace.com/
  18. I ran into this problem with logging jumps this past weekend. Mind you, I'm a coach, not an instructor (yet!). The past entry in the log book by the instructor was only basic info (jump #, date, plane, level #, hard deck, etc...) and a signature. I was so dissappointed. Come to find out (the hard way) this guy had a hard time arching on exit. I talked to the instructor afterwards about the jump, and he said, yeah he's had that problem in the past. Nice if I had known! I always to make sure to give details on the jump, both good and not good things that took place. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  19. I agree - they should show up early. Light winds, no waiting right? Wrong. I took a student on a coach jump last weekend who showed up at 8:30am and waited until 5pm to make a jump (he had to complete a jump with an instructor before I could jump with him; I'm only a coach). DZs don't always start buzzing early in the morning, and by time they do, the winds have picked up and instructors are too busy (or don't care) to take a student. When an instructor is both a tandem instructor and an AFF instructor, they can make more $$ doing 3 tandems in the time it takes to do an AFF jump. Don't get me wrong- I realize that I am generalizing and that not every single tandem/AFF instructor is like this. Yes I'm jumping to conclusions and No I don't know what the exact issue was at the DZ your friend was trying to jump at. I'm sorry that this was his experience, but from what I've seen, it is all too common. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  20. Let's see.... Rochester NY The Ranch Carolina Sky Sports (now closed) Quincy Ill WFFC (no longer held) Titusville Skydive the Farm Skydive Atlanta Atlanta Skydiving Center (Grrr!) My biology teacher in high school had three kidneys- go figure! Hey I give you major kudos for helping out your mom!!! That's sp awesome! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  23. How about: "This too shall pass." ARGH my mom says that all the time; it's very annoying. What about: "A little pain never hurt anybody." That's BS b/c of course it hurts- that's what pain IS! http://3ringnecklace.com/
