  3. Welcome to skydiving. I'll post here what I've posted time and time again- LISTEN TO YOUR INSTRUCTORS!! it is the single most important thing you can do. Ask questions, even if you think they are dumb. Instructors need to know that you do or do not understand. If you need additional practice/help from your instructor, don't be afraid to ask them. All the best- http://3ringnecklace.com/
  4. Oh no - what happened to Jean? Give her all my best wishes... (Gee I'm glad you think it's funny that your wife is in pain *sarcasm meter off the charts here*) http://3ringnecklace.com/
  5. Happy happy joy joy Too bad I missed ya last weekend Hope you had a wonderful birthday!!!
  6. Hello James - welcome to the world of skydiving! Listen to your instructors!!!!! And don't be afraid to ask a question, even if you think it's dumb. It's better to get your answer at the risk of looking stupid than making a mistake and getting hurt (then you REALLY look stupid). Have fun and be safe!
  7. Bitch of the Heavy Horses MC Sounds about right.... http://3ringnecklace.com/
  8. Don't mention the war! I mentioned a few times but I think I got away with it alright!! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  9. Biggest Loser Top Chef Seinfeld Simpsons Deadliest Catch Mystery Diagnosis (not in that order...) http://3ringnecklace.com/
  10. I was thinking of this thread this weekend. I had to replace the bumpers on my metal links and it was a challange! The risers were still twisted after double and triple checking that I hooked up everything ok. I was very careful not to hook up the lines in the incorrect order, which I didn't. The canopy flew pretty well, but it opened in a dive. I landed fine. When I was working on this whole project, at least a dozen people walked by and said, "Get slinks." I keep saying, "I know, I know..." http://3ringnecklace.com/
  11. I've always been nervous but never to the point where it would affect my dive or my safety. I'm now to the point where I'm not that nervous but there is still enough nervousness to keep me safe. You always want to have some nerves there- it keeps you alert and non-complacent. It's normal to be nervous. How does that saying go? "The trick getting the butterflies to fly in formation." That is, get the nervous to work FOR you, rather than AGAINST you. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  12. :7:0 = sick 7 = 4 coach jumps and some freefly jumps 0 = nothing new Helped with the FJC Put new bumpers on my risers and I ended up twisting my risers on not one, but two of my jumps. Nice. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  13. Ok maybe I won't make any spelling errors this time... I work in III Corps Headquarters in Fort Hood. I made eye contact with Lt. General Odeirno once while he was walking down the hallway as I was coming out of my office. And yes I spelled his name right!! And I saw Marion Jones at an outside mall in Durham NC with her son. This is before she admitted to lying to federal investigators about using banned substances. She was released from federal prision today. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  14. Good point, the reserve goes up, but does the spring loaded pilot chute go out? Does someone have video of this? (I can't view youtube or skydivingmovies b/c of work) Hmmm if I was in a bipole or something like that, I would probably dump in place as well. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't turning (without tracking) and pulling your reserve just dump it in the direction of your fellow jumpers? Nothing says "how you doin'?" like a freebag in the face! It seems like dumping in place would be the "best" bet (and then immediately grab my risers to make quick turns to avoid a collision). http://3ringnecklace.com/
  16. My boyfriend's father puts pepper on everything and I mean EVERYTHING. He even unscrews the top and DUMPS it on his food. I couldn't believe it when I saw him pour it all over his garden salad. I used to eat peanut butter and cheese sandwiches when I was young, but now I don't like that. Yuk! I love maple syrup on scrambled eggs!!! But only the fake kind of syrup, not the real kind. When I worked at a Girl Scout camp in NC, some of the campers would pour chocolate milk on their Lucky Charms. So much sugar- my teeth would hurt just looking at it! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  17. Oh, yeah. Opps. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  18. All the best to you and your efforts to keep it running!
  19. Yeah I was watching it last night- so it's so cool!!!! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  20. My grandma is good friends with Pete Seeger. I used to date a guy (Sandy) who is the son of the guy who invented Boogle (I think he name is Aaron Turoff). He's the one who got me into skydiving. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  21. Wow not something to advertize on DZ.com about I bet you have an inbox full of PMs by now... my #s:
  22. That's so awesome! Your ring goes so well with that jumpsuit Stay happy and safe!!!
  23. Man: "You're lying." Woman: "How can you tell?" Man: "Because your lips are moving." Can'r remember where that is from. It's from the moive, "Who's that Girl?" with Madonna. Such a great movie! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  24. I knew a kid whose name is Atlas. When I was a camp counselor, I had a camper once whose name was Sunshine. What about that NASCAR driver Dick Trickle? I had a friend in grad school whose name is Tcherlie, pronounced Ta-Sherlie. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  25. I agree with Michelle- Speak up! I love jumping with newbies!! As far as my own 'hiccups' in progress: -landing patterns (consistenty entering the pattern too early) -flare timing (I still wear knee pads) -sit flying (my arms and posture) Packing, money, and time used to be issues, but not any more! http://3ringnecklace.com/
