Hey - that's what I was going to say. Well put. http://3ringnecklace.com/

This is most stupid thing that I've done and I'm still ashamed of it. Sunset load: for some reason it was decided that we should change the landing direction 180 degrees. I took note of it but apparently my brain didn't hold that vital piece of info. I was wearing sunglasses instead of my Z1. For some strange reason we were at 13.5 for almost 5 minutes- or longer. It took forever for the red light to come on. I wasn't thinking about landing direction. I was thinking, "I want to get out of this airplane before the sun goes down!" We finally jumped, I opened up and the sun had indeed went down. I couldn't see anything and I was afraid to take off the helmet to remove my sunglasses because I didn't want to drop it. When I was under canopy in the playground, I was thinking, "Where is everybody?" So I come in for my landing and I still can't see shit. Just as I'm coming in for a landing, someone comes in for their landing, rushing by me. I completely forgot that landing direction was changed for that load. Me and that other jumper were almost killed. The funny part is, the DZO saw it happen, and he was yelling at the other guy! Everyone was ok and noone was mad at me. I'm still embarassed and realize that no matter how many jumps someone may have we are still vulnerable to making even simple mistakes. http://3ringnecklace.com/

Go Sports Skydiving (PS3)

Why are they wearing rigs in the windtunnel? http://3ringnecklace.com/ -
Everyone gets better at a different pace. One thing is for certain - every landing you walk away from is a good landing. Take it from me- I'm at the hospital, visiting someone who had a titanium rod put in their leg on a bad tandem landing. And he has almost 800 jumps. If you're very concerned about having consistant landings on your feet, talk to your instructors. Taking a canpoy course (Scott Miller) may be a wise investment. http://3ringnecklace.com/

Good for you! Hey-do 7 jumps in a day no matter WHAT jump number you are!!!! *Virtual Pie in face*

Do you leave your gear laying out at your DZ
airathanas replied to pan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I leave my gear in the DZ all day while I'm jumping (duh). I lock my gear in the car overnight and bring it home with me on the weekends. I try not to leave it in the car because I've read too many stolen gear reports that gear was taken out of cars. I'm tenative to leave it in the hanger because of articles that I've read about hangers burning down. I can't risk losing equipment I can't afford to replace. http://3ringnecklace.com/ -
I did 6 jumps on Saturday and three jumps on Sunday - despite the winds being as crappy as they were (high, turbulent, and gusty). I would have done more but as a few of you know I had to take care of Brandon. I don't think I'll be jumping this weekend - "nurse" duty http://3ringnecklace.com/

Hope you have a great one!

HA! I already accomplished this- but I'm going to beat ya to it. I'm moving in March. My other goal is skydiving related- opps. Get either my tandem rating or my AFF instructor rating. http://3ringnecklace.com/

Does anyone know this person?
airathanas replied to airathanas's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
haha very funny - that's not the case at all. Thanks for everyone's help. I was able to track her down and my friend was able to reconnect with her. -
Maybe the list should include: "Excuse me sir?" Ouch. http://3ringnecklace.com/

Jumping after knee surgery
airathanas replied to michaeldupreez's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had my right acl repaired with a cadaver ligament and my left acl repaired with my patella tendon. I'd say I had a better recovery with my right knee, but it was done first of the two. I've had a longer time to recover and I had at least one good knee at that time. For my right knee (cadaver) I wore a huge knee brace, but I wasn't jumping then. I never wore a knee brace for my left knee. I jump wearing hard-shell roller blading knee pads and it has made a HUGE difference. I've walked away from many landings that I would have seriously hurt myself otherwise. My advice is to only jump when you have sufficient strength, full range of movement, and muscle mass to protect your joints. But I'm not your doctor. http://3ringnecklace.com/ -
Does anyone know this person?
airathanas replied to airathanas's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm trying to track down a skydiver for a friend of mine. The person that I'm looking for is Karen Cacciola and she lives (lived?) in Massachusetts. Apparently she is a skydiver, but other than that I have no information. If you have heard of this person or have any sort of information, please PM me. Thanks! http://3ringnecklace.com/ -

HAHAHAHAHA oh god oh god my sides That is one of the most painful things I've ever seen. Oh lord. What about this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnnPhc_ZjWk http://3ringnecklace.com/

What's worse- not being able to jump because of bad weather OR not being able to jump because you're working and the weather is jumpable? I guess both are bad because you can't jump in either situation. That answers that. http://3ringnecklace.com/

Bye- I barely knew ye. Wait a second I don't know him at all. Oops. http://3ringnecklace.com/

2007 was a ride. I bet 2008 will be the same. I could complain about my J-O-B but I'm going to improve that situation. Overall, I am very grateful for the blessings in my life. My health, my family, my DZ family... there have been must worse times in my life in years past but I'm working on having better ones as well! http://3ringnecklace.com/

When think prices are in terms of how many jumps it's going to cost you. You go to buy something and you think, "I can't get that. It's like 3 jumps!" When you have no idea what to do when it rains on the weekend. When you just don't care what whuffos think anymore. When you think it's crazy NOT to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. http://3ringnecklace.com/

Corn or Beans. Which Suck more?

I've landed in wheat- does that count? I guess not. Hmmm...jumping out of a Cessna into a bean field. Sounds thrilling. http://3ringnecklace.com/ -

During their honeymoon... "What the fuck am I doing?" -his wife http://3ringnecklace.com/ -
My thoughts actually. People are prasing BG for doing something that he doesn't recommend to other people and now this guy is being critized for following his EPs. Everyone's a critic I guess. I'm happy that BG and this guy are ok. Too many people get hurt under perfectly fine canopies. http://3ringnecklace.com/
