  1. Small jumps which include at most one inexperienced skydiver are both a better learning experience for the new guy (who gets to try at more points with people who aren't moving all over or being distracted by the yahoos zooming past) and more fun for the experienced people (who can actually accomplish something - flat I can catch nearly every one with enough skill to be cleared for self supervision, and have pretty good odds head-up even with people corking. Where the other person is out second I can probably get out of the way if they get too aggressive). Depending on how your experienced/inexperienced break down what would be an 8 "way" zoo is better split into a pair of four ways, two three ways and a two way, or four 2-ways. I often suggest splitting things which would get out of hand before the plane loads. Thank you!!! I couldn't agree more!!! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  2. Hahaha My comment was not at ALL pointed at you. Silly! It's nice to see that other people agree with me~ http://3ringnecklace.com/
  3. Done - all the best! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  4. I noticed that some cats are picky in that you have to scoop the box often or they will not use it. I worked at a vet clinic where they had an in-house cat that would pee all over the place and was on medication for it. I only add litter to the box when it starts getting low (usually after 4 scoopings). Maybe put out a couple of litter boxes? http://3ringnecklace.com/
  5. Good luck with saving the $$ because once you start jumping you kiss all of your money goodbye!!! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  6. Well only if you want to call it by its correct name http://3ringnecklace.com/
  7. Zoo loads drive me crazy because it is usually the same people who mess up time and time again and never learn from their mistakes. Stereotypically, it is the guy who jumps once every month, invites everyone on the dropzone on the jump, goes low/takes out the base/etc, and then laughs "oh well it was fun though." I thinking to myself, "thanks buddy you just wasted my jump ticket." I'm not referring to the newbies who are still getting their skills down; that's one thing. I'm referring to the idiot who laughs "oh well it was fun" over and over when my money gets wasted. I started freeflying just to get away from these situations! Zoo loads can be fun and a learning experience if it happens every once and a while. But every jump? It just loses its appeal. And for the guy that jumps every once and while, it makes no difference to him because it is only that occasional jump- not every weekend. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  8. I finally was able to jump this year- four jumps from a narrow body C182 and one from a Grand Caravan yesterday. That was so sweet after doing a couple hundred from a tiny cessna! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  9. That's why I didn't sell my rig even during a three year break. Welcome back! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  10. So funny! I really needed to laugh today- thanks!!
  11. Ok I'll bite- I took this less-than-feminine woman with a very short hair cut (*hint hint*) on a tandem out of a 182. In the door, she grabbed the stabilizer (diagonal bar that goes from the wing to the body of the airplane). Not unusual- students do that all the time. I grabbed her hand to pull it off- but she had such a strong grip, I couldn't get her to let go (remember I'm a woman). I yelled in her ear, "Let go!" but she still didn't let go. By this time, we had been in the door longer than usual, and the spot was getting long. I started to punch her hand and she still didn't let go. Finally I yelled in her ear, "LET GO OF THE GODDAMN PLANE!" She immediately let go and the freefall was great. Under canopy, I apologized for cursing at her. Her response was, "You cursed at me? Why?" I said, "Because you won't let go of the plane." Her response was, "I was holding on to the plane?" She had no idea!!!!! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  12. Well, while my camera was in my bag when I was traveling, I think a lot of buttons were pressed. When I took it out of my bag, there are now a lot of scratches around the buttons. I guess I send it to Canon and see what they say. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  13. I brought my Canon Rebel XS Digital Still camera home with me for the holidays. After air travel (carry on), I took it out of my bag to take some pictures on Christmas. I pressed the shutter button to take a picture, but on the screen it read, "Error 09 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to and again or re-install the battery." Turning it on and off again doesn't change anything. When I take the battery out and put it back in again, it works fine. But after the camera not being used for a while, it goes back to the same error message. Obviously this is a bad situation for a shooting stills of tandems. Has anyone else had this problem? Yes the camera is under warranty and yes I am sending it to Canon to be fixed. I'd just thought I would ask anyone here if they had the same issue and how they dealt with it. Thanks~ http://3ringnecklace.com/
  14. I watched some episodes last night- the climbers had diarrhea and were shitting their pants as they summitted. Wow ~ http://3ringnecklace.com/
  15. Ok I'm responding to the original topic of the thread- It's funny that this thread was even started considering that my ex just pulled this to dump me. Yup, he's going to move to Florida and he doesn't want me to go with him. Long story- I couldn't choose Florida because it wasn't on the poll. No "other" choice either. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  16. So sorry to hear that your Dad has passed. *HUGS* I'm glad to hear that at least your Dad was, in your words, amazing. I can't say that about mine. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  17. Jumps: 880 Cutaways: 3 Type: All partial malfunctions One was a tension knot on a tandem, and the others really can't be classified as a specific malfunction. Hard to describe and I don't have pictures. But they both had problems with the lines. Not line twists or knots, just "tangled." http://3ringnecklace.com/
  18. Hey I heard on the news that there is going to be an Eggo Waffle shortage as well. http://www.accuweather.com/news-weather-features.asp?date=2009-11-19_1604&month=11&year=2009 How does the song go? "It's the end of the world and we know it..." http://3ringnecklace.com/
  19. Okay Nat- we need to see a pic of this guy and then we can all truly judge him! That's right- post that pic and throw him to the wolves!! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  20. We'll answer a lot of your questions in the First Jump Course. We'll teach you a lot of information that you need to know before jumping with a rig on your back. You'll learn about equipment, safety procedures, freefall dive flow, emergency procedures, canopy control, landing pattern, landing, etc... I look forward to seeing you then! -Beth http://3ringnecklace.com/
  21. Nick- the passing of your father is unfortunate. I hope you are able to cope with your loss while surrounded by loved ones. All the best~ http://3ringnecklace.com/
  22. Hi Hal- I see that you did your jump at Skydive 35. I'm an instructor there and we've got a great AFF program. If you're interested in becoming a certified skydiver, I've love to work with you! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  23. Students do not wear helmets are frap hats- I wear an open face helmet with a chin cup. I frequently hear the risers slapping off the side of my head on deployment and I want to keep my ears so I wear a helmet. I purposely put a chin cup on it, because sometimes on the butt slide landings I hit the student's head with my chin. A very bad habit that I have to stay on alert for. http://3ringnecklace.com/
