  1. : 3: 0 I was able to do two video jumps and I went for a tandem to help out a fellow instructor-to-be. It's great to be back in the air again after busting up my elbow. I've been hitting the weights at the gym and I'll be back doing tandems in no time. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  2. Hello from Texas! http://3ringnecklace.com/

  6. I haven't jumped at the dropzone in Monroe, but I know some of people and they are great! Hopefully one day I'll be able to jump out of their King Air http://3ringnecklace.com/
  7. Umm - just sticking my two cents in here - Altitude awareness is required for EVERY jump. Yes it can't hurt to be altitude aware but it can hurt A LOT if you're not altitude aware. That is all... Glad to hear that you had a great time! All the best for AFF! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  8. Isn't it two tries and then if you can't get the drogue out, go straight to the reserve? What about handles checks? No drogue = no main http://3ringnecklace.com/
  9. After a month off because of a dislocated elbow, I was able to do two jumps last weekend. : 2: http://3ringnecklace.com/
  10. I want my two dollars!!! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  11. The closest places to you are Skydive Houston, Skydive Temple and Skydive 35. Spaceland and Dallas are great places but there are a long drive to get there. I would recommend Temple as they are close and they have great staff. You're right about San Marcos- very bad vibes. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  12. Geez.. since you have your A license why don't you pack your ass off and earn the money to get you through? Do these people think they are going to get jobs, cars, food, etc... this way? Go out and get it for yourself!!! I'd rather give my hard earned money to the guy selling fruit at the red light because at least he's working for it. The guy with the sign begging for spare change isn't getting any money from me. http://3ringnecklace.com/

  14. : 0 : 0 I dislocated my left elbow on a no-wind tandem landing a week ago. I went to the ER and had it popped back into place (while sedated of course). I don't have full range of motion back yet, and there's still some swelling and bruising. Looks like I won't be jumping for a while. Thankfully I am right handed. Laura: I'm sending long distance good vibes. Those bees can be nasty. I got stung on the leg 2 years ago while standing in the landing area and it HURT like hell!! Feel better girl! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  15. I went through the Citizen's Police Academy here in Killeen (Texas). I love it- learned a lot about gangs, animal control, jail, robbery, what it takes to become a police officer, etc.. I got to shoot at their range, see their SWAT team in action, see a police dog demonstration, and do a ride-along. I highly recommend it! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  16. Get the student comfortable and relaxed before every skydive. That way, their mind will be relaxed, and their bodies will be relaxed too. Also, don't correct the student in freefall because you're taking away what little flying surface area that you have to "fix" the student. Fly your body to compensate for the student. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  17. That is the EXACT same thing that happened on my first (I already bought beer for it- relax) tandem cutaway (well only tandem cutaway at that). And yes I kept my handles too. Same equipment- Strong, SETS 400, RSL no Skyhook. I found the canopy but not the freebag. I'm still looking for it http://3ringnecklace.com/
  18. I'm with RockyMtn on this. I saw a picture of a guy who got a tattoo of "Your Mine" along with a picture of the Grim Reaper pointing towards you. It wasn't a small tattoo either- it covered his ENTIRE back. What about the "there" or "their" confusion? People hardly ever seem to get that one right! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  19. Channel? Name of the show? http://3ringnecklace.com/
  20. "Bite or hit student" - haha gotta love it! It's sounds awful but it is the right thing to do to save your lives! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  21. One word: Transfer. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  22. One might say it depends on where the ceiling is- if it is above the hard deck, then the possiblity to exit the plane would go up. If it is below the hard deck, then probably no. But I don't jump through clouds. Especially tandems. http://3ringnecklace.com/
