This PC world has finally gone stark raving bonkers
Elisha replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
...and fanny means something else in the UK (and parts of Canada) than the USA as well. I used to have a boss at a former job named Fanny. I joked about the difference with a Canadian coworker who also worked for her and knew the difference. -
skydivings impact on your relationship
Elisha replied to fpritchett64's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
One kinda dilema I see from someone on the lower experience end is that to get the experience to safely jump high(er) performance canopies, you need to jump a lot, but you can't jump a lot and have a life other than skydiving. Hmmmm....(and my canopy is just a square!) -
Would they even ALLOW a random visiting upjumper? I'm guessing you wouldn't remember though.

I bake it in the oven (only grill stuff if asked to flip the meat at BBQs). Buy Cardini's Lemon Herb dressing and pour some on the to and let it sit for a little while. Just before putting it in the oven, pour some olive oil on it and sprinkle some rosemary on top. I cook some Basmati rice to go with it too and add a tablespoon of olive oil and some rosemary to the water. Yummmm.....

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale seems to be the most popular on any DZ I visited. But is that acceptable for YOU? (It is for me, but I won't be there. ) -
Thye're good folk - go check 'em out.

0:2:0 2 more test jumps on my Sabre-120...getting the line below the eyelet replaced since they're way short. First jump a solo where I pulled at 8K, was out last and still beat the student down (jumping like some Nav 260 or whatever) and then completed 5/6 of a pt while waiting for some chick to dock and she just kept lurking.

I love the pink cell in my new(er) canopy. It is just a bit of pink though to go with the dark and light blue cells....more intersting the the plain green with orange ribs of my older, larger sabre.

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 for around $38k before incentives
Elisha replied to ntrprnr's topic in The Bonfire
Yeah...I got about a zero less savings - $900/yr with my situation. Doesn't make up for buying a new car...which I can't unless I sell me place. -
Then use and elliptical!

Count me in. She'll probably teach your good, man...but she's a petite floaty butt (me too), so I hope you can fly slow. Ev, I'm busy that weekend, or I'd be glad to let you teach me some 4-way. I'm pondering trying to make Endless Summer in San Diego which I think is the weekend before the last in Oct. I was thinking about Chicks Rock too, but I think I may be in Vegas that weekend. There is always Byron coming up too. -
Those look cool. I wonder if when I order a new Wings after I get my tax return next Feb if they'd put those on...I'm thinking not though and I'd have to order them sepately.

Is that like, a 3-cell canopy? A bit small though.

My male orange tabby (seems to want attention at the moment) likes walnuts. He sometimes licks my armpits if I don't get out of bed fast enough - it doesn't feel good with a cat's sandpaper like tongue.

First impressions of the Spectre 135 - Interesting Openings
Elisha replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in Gear and Rigging
900 is nothing. My 15-yr old Sabre1-150 has probably 1200 is good for plenty more. Many of these modern ZP canopies can go for 3000 if taken care of. -
I wouldn't say that - I'm thinking long term (for buying a container) and the 120 basically fell into my lap. I had jumped my Sabre-150 for about 90 jumps, demoed several and was in the market for a Sabre2-135 and someone (who has a lot of experience and jumps a VX) suggest even a 120. Well, a Sabre-120 fell into my lap. Still doesn't answer my question though of how a Stilleto-135 would compare to the Pilot-132. I sure didn't remember the Pilot 150 or 140 turn as sharply as the 132.

Otis rocks!

Nein, und ich denke das du auch kein Deutsch sprichst.

Huh? Can you/someone explain? This doesn't make that much sense to me. I would think that it would turn faster. In the past several jumps, I've jumped (my former regular) Sabre1-150, Safire2-149, Pilot-132, Sabre2-135 (plus 12 lbs of lead for the RW jumps I was doing) and the Sabre1-120 I recently got for only $250. The Sabre2-135 (+ 12 lbs of lead) defintely felt like it had the best "performance" overall - felt I had to respect it the most on final, but the Pilot-132 had some REALLY fast turns when I buried a toggle - almost too fast. It felt more mundane though when landing, probably because of the flatter glide. So how would a Pilot loaded at 1.1 compared to a Stilletto loaded the same since both are trimmed rather flat and are tapered (even though the Stilleto is fully elliptical)? What IS performance?

What are those? Got a pic?

Anyone think of this before? I'm sure y'all think of a reason to shoot this down quickly. I was thinking of long spots or XCs when you want to hang in rears...easier to hang onto handles then to grab the risers. I had a long spot recently where I was the only one who completely made it back. I recognized somewhat early and just hung in rears and/or half brakes. What do you think?

I've been wanting to ask this for a while and this seems to be a good opportunity. Is there even a point to a low WL on a HP canopy? I mean, people usually have at least 1.4 or so on a canopy like a Stilleto...especially since you could easily load a Sabre2 or Spectre up to 1.5 or 1.6 within the mfg specs. The comparison I can think of is overpowering a sedan and what you can do driving with it vs just getting a sports car. If a V6 is fine with you in the sports sedan and the associated performance, then fine, but it is pointless to just drive sports car around at only the speed limit.
