Refused tandem because of waiver
Elisha replied to skinnyshrek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's what I do...but I solo jump. No, who of us sport jumpers carefully scrutinize the waiver when visiting other DZs? I supppose I should start a different topic. -
Yeah, they were $70 at Eloy last Holiday Boogie I think.

WTF are Croakies? Merchandise these days....weird names.

Sorry for the repost, but someone posted this recently or at least attached it in a pdf. I think it may have been riggerrob or another rigger here. Can you please post it again? I know hookitt wanted to see it too. Thanks!

Aerodyne Icon - Any issues since the shakeup?
Elisha replied to Clownburner's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've hardly hear a word, so what was the "shakeup"? Cynical replies welcome. I don't mind hearing all views. -
Best religious music, by artist or popular beat combo
Elisha replied to shropshire's topic in The Bonfire
Chant....as in the various Slavic types, Byzantine and a lot of Gregorian. Various composers. -
No, you're confusing it with a really bad skydiving scene in a really bad movie called Dropzone. It does not happen, people don't dive after those with malfunctions. What are you talking about, man? I've managed to replicate all those scenes from that moview! I just watched it again this weekend to confirm it! (Anyone remember if there are even less realistic scenes in other movies besides the 10 minute freefall in Point Break?)

Isn't that an oxymoron?

3 month lay off ... a few questions
Elisha replied to lisamariewillbe's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I wore weights on an AFF jump or two - one of the AFFI's said it was taking a lot effort to fall as slow as I was. I weigh the same as Lisamariewillbe, but not the stick she is since I'm only 5'6". 6'2"?!? Sheesh girl, go eat something! No, I suppose you're a nice elegant thing. -
Thank you. These are the two situations which I've always had questions about.

Wow! VERY interesting.

WHATEVA! WHATEVA! I was rather surprised at how sharp the turns were on the Pilot-132...maybe too fast when I buried a toggle up high. It had been several months, but I didn't remember them being so fast on the 140 and 150. On final though, I just felt the Pilot was, well, flat...both figuratively and literally (as in glide) except for the turns.

Would you say the order from most to least aggressive would be Sabre2, Safire2, Pilot, Sabre1 from the above mentioned canopies? I've flown all 4, but of various sizes. Pilot: 150, 140 and 132. Safire2-149. Sabre2: 190 and 135 and Sabre1: 170, 150 and 120 (just bought the 120 and will probably be flying it for a while). The organizer of the RW jumps I was doing threw 12 lbs of lead on me while I was demoing the Sabre2-135 and it seemed rather sporty. I couldn't do pullups on the front risers on final like with Sabre1-150 that I had put around 90 of my last 100 or so jumps on - defintely had to respect that Sabre2-135 more.
-
mjo, Can you explain "better penetration" but a flatter glide? To me, a flatter glide would imply less penetration, not better. If winds were such that I was barely moving forward or standing still, I was told that fronts (risers) would help penetrate to get some progress. friday999, Sabre1 better....you're just weird. I have no problem with my Sabre1's, but I'll take a Sabre2 anyday under equal considerations.

I never understood that thing with 1-800 #s and location. I have the number on Speed dial (so, for Davis from my NorCal cell phone) and also Byron's #.

Do you like this month's Parachutist cover photo?
Elisha replied to lewmonst's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I thought it looked rather boring....ditto what several others have said. -
Whats an "H" mod? I asked this question already in another thread. Also, how much would it cost? I wonder if Clay @Byron knows how to do it (he's a masterrigger). I think some here told me $150 a couple of weeks ago. Would it make the performance closer to a Sabre2? Just curious.

notaccountable, If you could organize your reply better, some of us might have a clue what you are actually saying. I'm not going to look at every prior post just to see who is who. Thanks.

There is still nothing wrong with a Sabre 1. I have been jumping a 150 for around 90 jumps now, while demoing a Pilot 150, 140, 132, Safire2 149 and Sabre2 135. While I like the Sabre2 much better, I just bought a Sabre1-120 with ~500 jumps or so....for only $250. If you are looking for a first canopy and cost is an issue, don't completely discount the original Sabre. If you are NOT on a tight budget, then yes, definitely get a Sabre2. Also, the more experienced people on this site (in both years and jumps) would support the Sabre1 while there are some less experienced who think it is a deathtrap.
