***Yeah, when a hurricane hits the gulf coast, WE get all the tornados and outer rain bands. Flooding Yea! Hey don't you live by a LAKE??? __________________________________________________ Yes...ABOVE the dam. You can see the lake from our neighborhood, but we are WAY high. Plus, we aren't really new to the area. We lived in New Braunfels from 1995-2000, and were here during the 1998 flood (not caused by a hurricane). I don't remember ever being in a tornado (not saying it couldn't happen). Having lived in this area and on the coast, I can say that it is quite different. Good grief We've hardly gotten a break from last year. Actually, I'm not in the "we" category anymore since we moved inland about 300 miles. 1200 feet higher according to my Alti. I'm crossing my fingers for all of you still on the coast. Those of you in TX, my house will be an evacuation destination! Not a phone story, but still pretty funny My mom's brother and his wife live in Central CA on about 15 acres. They were taking flying lessons together and one day my uncle was going to get in some hours while my aunt sunbathed on their deck. She said if they flew over she would give him a nice view She gave her best show as the plane circled the property several times. Later, she asked if he enjoyed it. With the most dumbfounded look on his face, he replied "we never made it out there." I don't know if he was screwing with her or not, but man was that hysterical. Why does anyone buy one-ply toilet paper? You have to use twice as much so you're not saving any money. __________________________________________________ Same concept as low-flow toilets. I've heard you have to flush them twice or it DON'T do the job! I don't know where to start. We've been together for 13 years, married for 11. Sometimes I wonder just what in the world I did to deserve him. He's a great guy - and a fantastic husband and father! No I would not, because that would rob me of the joy and exhilaration I feel when I'm in that sky. I'm scared enough as it is when I leave that plane. It is the joy that keeps me pushing through that fear every time, if it's not there then what's the point? Plus it would be extremely irresponsible on my part since I have a family. I went to my first boogie on Saturday....and FOUGHT with myself for almost six hours to stay on the ground because the winds were unacceptable. It was so hard not to get on that plane, but I KNEW it would not be a good idea. They winds calmed down around sunset, and I got a couple of jumps in. I remember thinking who knows what was prevented by not jumping until the winds subsided. How I wish there was a lot more that was prevented Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

Only been in the sport a little over a year myself...but am very awe-struck at just how close skydivers are. The bonds I have with other skydivers is right up there with those I have with family. I'm a newbie and this has all hit home in a major way. My stomach has been in knots, and I didn't even know any of these people.
