  1. I'm already much more confidant and stronger thanI was before. I think it's partly because I'm doing something just for me and it was completely my decision. I can't wait! Thanks for all the info. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  2. Thanks so much! I have to stretch my jumps out because I'm making only so much money each month for them and I'm driving about 300 miles to do it so I wanted to be doing something to contribute to this new hobby between jumps. I appreciate it. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  3. That's very interesting, Jeffrey, and very TRUE! There are no female (that I know of) TIs in San Marcos and I'm pretty sure there aren't many (if any) young monther's out there but that didn't stop me from getting addicted to the sport and going out there to start AFF. My sister bought me a tandem for my B-day in April and the rest is history! I do love just hanging out with other skydivers, I don't care what color they are or what their plumbing is! 4. How can you be so excited yet so nervous about something? I really can't wait to begin, but my stomach is in knots and it is a month away. This last weekend I completed two instructional tandems and I still feel like I'm in the clouds. Is there something I can read to become more familiar with the terminology? I want to learn as much as I can. What I think I'm most scared of is doing that first solo jump. I tried to do some turns on the last tandem and I felt like I couldn't get my arms to do what I wanted them to. I'm rather small and not a weight lifter. Does that have anything to do with it? 5. Thanks for the encouragement and greets! It definately feels better knowing I'm not alone. I can't wait to meet new people in love with this sport. wish me luck on June18! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  6. Hey Bryan, I did my first tandem jump (b-day gift)at SSM in mid-April and I just want to know what you guys put in your water out there because I am hooked! I'm actually driving out there from Houston to take the lessons because it's so much cheaper, and prettier of course. You were the grand finale to my wonderful, life-changing experience as you swooped the crowd shortly after I landed. Just wondering if you will be there on June 18 because I am very nervous and your skill really impressed me. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  7. Dear skysprite, Thanks for the warm welcome. Sorry I'm so long in replying. Trying to juggle so much right now. Yes, I'm studying ASL and it's great to meet someone else with the same interest. My youngest (who just turned 3) was signing before he was a year old. He picked it up as I was teaching my older son (who is homeschooled). He has a deaf friend and so wanted to learn to communicate with him. I do know several signs, but I don't think I'm fluent. I would like to be some day and that would be awesome to communicate with hearing-impaired skydivers as well. Good luck with skydiving and signing. 8. Great job! It's encouraging to read someone else's successes. I'm starting my training in mid-June and I'm very nervous. How many more jumps do you have to do to be a licensed skydiver after AFF? I'm obviously very new to all of this. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  9. Hi! I've just fallen madly in love with skydiving and will be starting my journey toward solo jumping at Skydive San Marcos on June 18. I did my first tandem jump there in April (b-day gift from my sis) so I have already met some of you at San Marcos. Looking forward to seeing you all again on June 18. Especially you, Bryan Moffett. You swooped the crowd shortly after I landed and my little boy still talks about it! It was a great finale to a wonderful experience. Thank you! 10. Thanks! I'm excited. My boys are 7 (as of July 2) and 3 (as of today!). My seven year old watched me jump the first time and was/is absolutely thrilled. He wants me to take him on his first skydive. My 3 year old cried from the time the plane took off until after I landed. I think he was scared of the noise. He loves watching my DVD and looking at the pictures though. Almost as much as I do. It's nice to talk to another Mom in the sport. I don't feel like such a weirdo now. Wish me luck on June 18! 11. Congratulations! Don't feel bad. It took me 31 years just to make my first jump. I turned 31 last April and skydiving was a gift from my dare-devil sister. Now I'm addicted and will start classes in mid June. Good luck and enjoy the sky! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  12. Hi, my name is Kathleen Mayfield and I am a brand new skydiver. My sis took me for my birthday last month and now I'm in love. I start classes at Skydive San Marcos in mid-June. I live in the Houston area, but I'm in the hill country so often I may as well learn at San Marcos. I hope to make many new friends and learn as much as I can.
