Another example of the no-balls democrats caving into the bullshit rhetoric of this administration. While Turkey is a valuable ally of the US, it continues to turn a blind eye to what was done by its predecessor state, the Ottoman Empire, to the Armenians. It was genocide, plain and simple. If the Turks would simply own up to it, as Germany has done for the atrocities of the Holocaust, then this pathetic chapter of history could be closed. Instead, they continue to deny, with the prospect of becoming part of the EU. As an American, and a world citizen, I expect my government to walk its talk and uphold human rights and advocate for the victims of injustice in this world. I am sorry to say that this is not often the case, but when it does happen, no apology is needed to anyone for doing what is right and just. As someone said upthread -- what's right is right. Tell Me How Michael Moore is Wrong, How He Lied.
masterblaster72 replied to Gato's topic in Speakers Corner
Personally I think that Michael Moore has a tendency to be intellectually dishonest, but your assessment is a bit of an exaggeration -- and dishonest. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
Strike Three called - I'm out of the Marathon this year...
masterblaster72 replied to ntrprnr's topic in The Bonfire
I feel your pain bro. Last year I was in decent enough shape to re-qualify for Boston, and I came down with a stress fracture in my lower left shin one week before the Marathon. Pat yourself on the back for being wise enough to call it off this far ahead -- I ran through my stress fracture the week before the race, thinking that some cortisone shots would help (at the advice of my orthopaedist, who misdiagnosed my stress fracture as shin splints), and then had to call it off the morning of the race as I was limping to take a pee...it took that much to get it through my thick skull that running NY 2006 wasn't going to happen. Hope you get better soon...and use this as motivation to do your best in the next race. Al Gore and the UN Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize
masterblaster72 replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
The fact that a war criminal like Henry Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize should render the award completely meaningless and unworthy of any discussion at all. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Actually, I'm up to 70 percent odds that she did it, and 25 percent odds that it was a member of the University Staff or Faculty. I say this because Columbia University has refused to turn over security videotape that could help identify who hung the noose. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071011/ap_on_re_us/columbia_noose So, it appears that early investigation is making Columbia assume a defensive posture. My girlfriend is a student at Teacher's College. She said the streets around her dorm have been crowded since yesterday, and that there are some angry people on the streets there. I think there could be many reasons they won't turn over the tapes just yet: 1. damage control to the university's image and 2. to prevent potential unrest 3. they don't know what to make of the tape yet 4. their security department have their own internal procedures that don't allow such quick turnover of security material. I think you're being a bit prejudiced (I don't mean prejudiced in the racist sense) about what you're surmising here...not saying that it's not out of the realm of possibility that the professor did this herself; it's just too early to tell at this point. On the other hand, I could see how this would fuel your suspicion: Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Common currency of the North American Union
masterblaster72 replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Hoax. http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/amero.asp Uh, two different things. Your cite was regarding a hoax about the US Mint printing Ameros, which hasn't happened yet. The thread topic is about *plans* for the Amero and a North American Union, which are real. Democrats don't oppose a NAU because they believe they're entitled to the hispanic vote. Republicans don't oppose it because it will benefit the big corporate elite. That's why it's happening with no uproar from the Congress or the press. Sadly, Americans constitute one of the most easily-manipulated populations in the world. When this finally does come into fruition, I think most Americans will actually be convinced that this is a good thing. --- In reference to the original article posted: yah, good luck with that... Can the Democrats really win the White house?
masterblaster72 replied to airdweller's topic in Speakers Corner
The difference between Howard Dean and Ron Paul is like night and day. May seem cult-like to you only because you hear little or nothing about him on the television. If you listen to him with an open mind (and it requires a bit of research since his ideas aren't served to you on the tele), you might understand what the hype is about. Meet The Next President of The United States of America
masterblaster72 replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Great choice Fred Thompson is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. So is Hillary, so is Giuliani, Romney, Obama, Richardson, Edwards, etc. Therefore, a vote for Thompson = a vote for Obama = a vote for Giuliani = a vote for Hillary = a vote for Edwards = a vote for Romney. They're all steered by the same agenda, which is unending war to line the pockets of the ultra-rich, and further burdening of the middle class to pay off an ever-increasing national debt (and of course, to line the pockets of the ultra-rich). Not to mention that constitutional rights and national sovereignty will continue to erode under any of the abovementioned candidates. I hope Americans will one day wake up and realize that no mainstream candidates in any presidential election have the interest of the people of the US in mind. *They are all puppets, with no real ideas of their own.* I'm convinced that the only hope for any real balance in our government is Ron Paul. Can the Democrats really win the White house?
masterblaster72 replied to airdweller's topic in Speakers Corner
I keep hearing these same points being made from both Democrats and Republicans. The same 'special interest groups' that bring you your evening news are the same special interests that these mainstream candidates serve. None of them have the interest of 'we the people' in mind. As long as we remain dependent on major television networks for our information, we'll always be stuck with candidates we're not impressed by. Unless Ron Paul wins the republican nomination (it's okay to dream), I, for one, will likely not vote -- I too am disgusted by all mainstream candidates on both sides. I'd be scared shitless too, and probably wouldn't handle the situation nearly as well as you do. You're stronger than you think. Best of luck to you, thinking good thoughts for you here in Philly. Freemasons, Skull & Bones, etc etc. Who cares?
masterblaster72 replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
David Rockefeller was chairman of the CFR from 1970 - 1985, and he created the Trilateral Commission. He's one very scary son of a bitch. If these quotes don't give you the chills, I don't know what will. And yes, he did actually say them. "We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. "It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries." - June 1991, Baden-Baden, Germany "This present window of opportunity, during which a truly peaceful and interdependent world order might be built, will not be open for too long - We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order." - address to the 28th Annual United Nations Ambassador Dinner, September 14, 1994, as quoted in the Business Council for the United Nations Briefing; Vol. 8, Issue 2, Winter 1995, page 1 "For more than a century ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents such as my encounter with Castro to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure--one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it. -- from David Rockefeller's Memoirs (Random House, New York, 2002) Chapter 27, pages 404 and 405 Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
Freemasons, Skull & Bones, etc etc. Who cares?
masterblaster72 replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
Apparently JFK cared. I posted this before, and I'm posting it again. Have you ever listened to what he said about clubs like this? If not, I recommend listening to the speech -- it'll take up about five minutes of your time. According to him, these "secret societies" have a heavy influence from behind the scenes in our government. And this is coming from a POTUS, not a conspiracy theorist. Would you have called him a conspiracy kook for saying this? I also said this before and I'll say it again -- those in public service should not be loyal to a black-box group of establishment elites; they should be loyal to those they represent. If they aren't, it's up to journalists to start investigating, asking the tough questions, and it's up to people to vote these politicians out of office if they are not acting in the interest of the people they are elected to represent. Obesity may push U.S. health costs above Europe: study
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
From here: Not meant to be a fat-people-bashing thread, but when an individual's problem becomes someone else's, something needs to be done to address the problem. What solutions do you think would help to reduce obesity in the USA, without over-reaching government intervention? Student tazered at public Kerry speech
masterblaster72 replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
This kid had the right idea but he executed it *very* poorly. He could have simply asked the first question and gotten an answer, followed it up with another, and if he had the room, perhaps another. There was no need to ambush him with three tough questions in a row. I suppose the kid was a bit nervous. Also, I disagree with you about the Skull and Bones question. IMHO that is a very legitimate question, one that mainstream journalists don't have the balls to hold these politicians' feet to the fire on. Reason why it is a good question is because these are public servants we are talking about -- their allegiance should be to their constituencies, not some black-box group of establishment elites. Also, maybe I'm missing something, but why was this kid arrested in the first place -- for not letting Mr. Kerry get a word in? I can understand the tasering (he was resisting arrest once they did arrest him), I'm just missing the reason why they arrested him in the first place. I also found this video a bit entertaining -- I got a chuckle out of his yelling in the latter part of the video. Cities cracking down on saggy pants
