BIGUN is correct. The FAA does not require any certification; however, MOST skydiving centers do require some type of proficiency before they will let you jump out of their planes. That said I'm sure you could find a plane to jump out of if you really have a death wish regarding your first jump. Who knows you might even survive to do it again. I assume you did what you thought was right. That isn't wrong and ultimately the decision to discipline won't be your decesion. You just gave the facts. However if the customer said the card was trash and to throw it away and the customer then walked away. I don't look on this as theft. If the customer had said here is a candy bar would you throw it away for me because I don't like chocolate would the cashier be wrong for keeping it and eating it later. Personally I wouldn't consider it stealing in either case because in both instances the customer said it was trash. Hey Tyler, Welcome to the sport. Skydive Dallas does have great people and I'm sure you would have a really good experience there. As far as wind goes, as a student you will not be able to jump in winds over 14 knots. It is a very good rule. However, there will be many days available that will have winds below 14 knots. On other days the winds will be below 14 knots early in the morning or late in the evening and this will also allow time for students to jumps. Regarding your second question about why most dropzones usually only go between 13K and 15K, there are two main reasons. The first reason is because oxygen is required for jumpers if they go to 18K but it is not required for jumpers below 15K. The second reason is one of economics. I can turn more loads if I don't go as high and I use less fuel if I don't go as high. Again welcome to the sport. If you do a search on this site, I'm sure you can get more information; however, here is something to get you started. As far as skills go, study the IRM and the SIMS and learn that material. Half the class is showing that you know how to teach. The evaluation forms for the coach course are in the back of this manual.
