  1. I have a brother in law that is an Astronaut and he has been up 5 or 6 times. It is way cool being family when they launch. I have been able to watch him launch twice and each time its a rush. Hopefully you will be able to see if happen soon. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  2. I have broken my foot twice and not known it right away. However, after a few days it becomes even more tender and at least for me it became harder to walk. Both times I didn't have to have my foot in a cast but they made me wear heavy work boots for support. For what its worth the Doc said that a break heals faster than a bad sprain. Hopefully you will feel better soon. Too bad I can't email kiss it and make it better because based on experience with my kids that works great lol Of course they didn't have any broken bones so right now its just a theory. 3. Here are my .02 cents. Add a pocket to your slider. It is a simple mod. Most riggers can hook you up and this solved all the problems with hard openings regarding my daughter's Sabre. This mod worked regardless of how it was packed. According to my daughter --Openings are soooooo soft now it is incredible. On the down side, it takes close to 800 feet to open and so you might want to increase your decision altitude. However, DO SOMETHING. My daughter suffered a fracture of her C5 vertabrae from one of her hard opening and I'm guessing you don't want to learn the same lesson in the same way. 4. Now come on law rocket I wouldn't steer this forum wrong. Remember that the question says that every time the monkey gets a coconut. Starting with 34 coconuts 34x1/8 = 4.2 34-4-1 for the monkey = 29 29x1/8 = 3.6 29-3-1 for the monkey = 25 25x1/8 = 3.1 25-3-1 for the monkey = 21 21x1/8 = 2.6 21-2-1 for the monkey = 18 18x1/8 = 2.2 18-2-1 for the monkey = 15 15x1/8 = 1.8 15-1-1 for the monkey = 13 13x1/8 = 1.6 13-1-1 for the monkey = 11 and now for the last pirate 11x1/8 = 1.3 11-1-1 for the monkey = 9 They wake up in the morning and they each get one and one for the monkey. 5. Kallend I think the answer is that those pirates of yours started with 34 coconuts. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr. After all the stealing, there will be 9 coconuts left. Each pirate will get one in the morning as will the monkey. The monkey actually turns out to be the best pirate because in the end he ends up with the lions share of the coconuts. In other words he made a monkey out of the pirates the devious little bastard. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  6. One of my favs from Homer: "If the bible has taught us nothing else, and it hasn't. Its that girls should stick to girl's sports such as hot oil wrestling and foxy boxing." Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  7. 4 years of hang gliding must have accelerated your learning curve tremendously. Turning 7 points on a 4-way on only your second jump ever is incredible. I only wish I could have learned as quickly. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  8. Dayle thanks for the feedback. I'm sure the orthopedic surgeon had a wealth of experience to draw on due to the popularity of hockey in Canada. LOL I have two friends from Canada living across the street from me, heh, and they both broke bones playing hockey. Sooooo based on this scientific pool of three canadians, the two across the street and you, I would have to surmise that 2/3 of all canadian men break bones by playing hockey. Using that same logic it must be fun to be in a country where 1/3 of all men skydive too. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  9. I had been to a party where I had been drinking pretty heavy and when the cop pulled me over he asked, " Do you know how fast you were going?" I replied, "I don't know because I wasn't looking at my thermometer." The cop was a highway patrolman and actually pretty cool. He made me park my car and find another way home. I found out the next day that he knew my Dad fairly well when Dad called and asked me how the thermometer on my car was working. 12. Hey Andy and Scrumpot, Thanks for the feedback. Your responses were definitely helpful. Jeni's follow up visit will be on July 08 and another set of X-rays will be taken then. We will take it slow. She is currently a student at the University and I don't know what type of therapy she might be eligible for although she was told that she could swim. If there are some other simple exercises that might help with her rehab please PM me and we'll give them a whirl. Blue Skies......Jim Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  13. My daughter has 26 jumps and the last 10 have been on one of the older Sabres. She complained of getting slam dunked on the first jump of the day last week and she was in enough pain after the jump that I had to finish packing her chute. Later in the day she felt better and she jumped 3 more times. We thought great no problems. However, the next day she did complain of some severe back pain and we went to the doctor. The X-ray showed a compression fracture of the L3 vertabrae. She was told not to jump again for a couple of months and not to do any other things that might aggravate the condition. She was told that there isn't anything that can be done except to give it time. Has anyone else experienced a compression fracture and is this the common advice to fixing the problem. Please don't hijack this thread and post packing tips or advice on chute selection. 14. Hey Grue, I live in Iowa and in March my daughter and I went down to Orlando to play in the wind tunnel and also to take Scott Miller's canopy course at Deland. OMG we had an AWESOME time!!!! AND we learned a ton!!!! As far as friendly people at Deland, Bob Hallet one of the owners at Deland gave my daughter his pants when she ripped hers on a jump. Did I mention the great people at Deland? We were both student jumpers at the time and we were treated great. We had also heard that Deland was team oriented and not for students without a license. God only knows where this type of rumor gets started because nothing could have gone better for us and everyone we met tried to teach us and make us better skydivers. We worked in the wind tunnel with Chromy who is arguably one of the best tunnel coaches around and he will be in Iowa this weekend down at Brooklyn, Iowa for our super otter weekend. Come on down and experience the love. You will have a blast. 16. Here's my $.02 or at least it's the same 2 cents I saw on a t-shirt. However, it is so true and applicable to these forums some times. Arguing over the internet is like winning the special olympics. You may win but you are still retarded. LOL Shameless plug for Jump Start Iowa 2005. Come jump with us in Brooklyn, Iowa 13-15 May. 18. Iowa ain't so bad. Friendly folks and Camp Dodge is only 30 minutes from the couchfreaks DZ. Give a holler when you arrive and I'll try and steer you toward the good bars with no fun haters. Twin Otter will be in Brooklyn, Iowa on May 13-15 so maybe we can jump together then. WoooHoooo Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
