  1. Think about it - How many thousands of years have we been raising kids, we still can't get it right and no one has come up with a decent owners' manual?
  2. I blew things up with firecrackers - We rode our bikes at horriffic speeds down dirt roads - And crashed, got cut up bad and laughed about it. We also jumped ramps made from old boards and garbage cans and lived to tell about it. I broke an arm rollerskating in second grade. We played with gasoline - I learned how to shoot (and shoot well-) by the time I was 12. I learned at the local police range, and was taught by active police marksmen. At a very young age I was taught safe and responsible firearms skills. This was in New Jersey in 1973 or so. We played in the mud and the dirt, and ate good share of it, too. I personally could wear out 2 rear tires on a bike in one summer. No wonder I'm damaged-
  3. The military community can be very small at times! Easy Does It
  4. You know I got my first tattoo at Breezy's!? And what was the name of that redneck bar right outside the main gate?
  5. Defective unit. Return to the manufacturer, if ya know what I mean -
  6. We're gonna try to put something together at Sky Knights, but right now it's dubious-
  7. I expect to be skydiving in my 60s - it's less than 2 years away. I'm far from "retirement" (whatever that means) age (I'm 41 now) - I sure as hell ain't gonna sit on the porch and wish I did things - I want to sit on that porch abd be GLAD I did things!! For that matter, I don't even want the porch. I want to keep going until the moment I draw my last breath.
  8. You realize, of course, marriage is the first step towards divorce?
  9. I second the motion!! Easy Does It
  10. Damn! Monday Morning and no numbers or am I blind?? 0:4:1 Beer for my first REAL attempt at free-flying. This kid has over 240 jumps and never tried to even sit-fly until Friday - Made three attempts - I think a few more jumps and I might get close. It sure is addicting! Need to get my Racer modified to be more free-fly friendly, though. So, how was YOUR weekend? Easy Does It
  11. Same here. I started at the tender age of 38 -- Three years later I know it's gonna take a bitch slap from father time himself to knock me out of the sky, and nothing else.
  12. Then tell the reporter you just picked up the rig at a garage sale?

  14. The "phase" crap they put the students through was such BS - When I was a student, it was during last days of Gen, Norma Browns' heyday. No phase crap, once we were released for the day we were on our own until formation in the morning. As along as you kept your shit straight, and did what you needed to do, it was no problem. We were resrticted for just a few days after arrival on base, then that was it. No unifrom restrictions or anything. Still had plenty of marching to do, though, and all the squadron details of course. But if you screwed up, watch out. She threw one hell of a going-away party for herself, too! Live band, free beer, free food - Very cool. When I went back as Technical Instructor, there was alot of tension between STA's and us. The STA seemed to like to have the students doing details constantly, and we wanted to see them relax and study, especially during the first blocks, where all the fundamentals were being taught. Oh, such sweet memories, Eh?
  15. You might want to look into Philadelphia as a point of entry into the US, also. And do consider making your trip during the warmer months. You'll be able to do more with favorable weather.
  16. We need to do an all Chanute-way at the WFFC, eh? I taught in the Electro-Environmental course, which was spread out in several halls/ hangers. And Chanute was a much more fun place to be the second time around, when a kid didn't have all the restrictions!
  17. ME TOO! ME TOO! I'm also a two-time Chanute refugee - Once as a student in '83 and again as an instructor in '90. The hanger that is now the aviation museum was the hanger I taught in. Easy Does It
  18. Looking at the drawings, the relationship between the tail and the door doesn't seem to be too bad. Yeah, maybe a foot or two higher would have been nicer, but I doubt that jumpers striking the tail will be a big problem. Always a trade-off. I'll jump anything that gets me high enough- Come to think of it, I think I'll grab my gear bag and go jump a Cessna this morning!
  19. Yep - We'll be jumping Saturday, too!! Edited to add: The Fun starts at 11:00 - Come join us, boys and girls!
  20. Well, you're right! I suppose they could use redirected bleed air from the turbine. Are we talking BLC (Boundary Layer Control) like the older F-4's had?
  21. Schweet! Tom and I will be there, so you KNOW there's gonna be a party!
  22. So friggen' ignorant - I wasn't even paying attention to the math - I would Love to spend 20k a year - A new rig or two every year and all the jumps you can eat - Pretty sweet!
  23. Probably belongs someplace else but I fingered this would get the best exposure - Jeff is flying- Come jump with us tomorrow at Sky Knights! We have our turbocharged 182 that climbs like a monkey with his ass on fire - And I wouldn't be surprised if an impromptu party breaks out after sunset, too. Be there or - ???????
  24. Gettin' drunk? - Yes - Gettin' any? - a distant maybe -
