Shit- Just about every Friday night, when the forecast is awesome and I know I'll be at the DZ at the crack of dawn! Easy Does It

"upscale" Around here we have "upscale" condominiums, "upscale" neighborhoods, and crap like that. But your car at an "upscale" dealership. (they have crappuchino on tap instead or ordinary coffee-) Shop at "upscale" stores. ("Needless Markup" - Neiman Marcus) Everything new is "upscale". Meaning "overpriced piece of crap you have to have because all your neighbors have one too, and that's what the people on TV have, and that's what the magazines say is part of an 'upscale' lifestyle". What a load of crap. Oh, how I hate the word! Easy Does It

Anybody ever posed this question before? A quick inventory before I pull a large trash can and an industrial-duty vacuum cleaner up the door of my truck - No less than 12 empty Red Bull cans, several Mountain Dew cans, one or two Coke cans, and a few assorted others - Several empty motor oil bottles- (Remember when oil came in tin cans?) Four pair of gloves, including a pair of leather welding gloves, A bunch of receipts, empty bags from fast-food joints, and Slim Jim wrappers. About fifteen bucks in change. A piece of 1-1/2" stainless steel pipe, about 18" long. A bunch of CD's, some actually in the cases. Jumper cables. Snow Brush. A steno pad. A canvas briefcase with a copy of the SIM, the competition hand book, the IRM, and bunch of stuff left over from this years RW competitions. A pair of socks (clean). Two uniform shirts from work (dirty). Another pair of socks (dirty). Left over from who knows when. A flashlight that still works! Two scewdrivers. A whole bunch of ballpoint pens and Sharpies, and some soapstone. Two pair of sunglasses. Three pair of safety glasses. A whole bunch of stuff I couldn't inventory. Something that smells funny, but I haven't found it yet. I still haven gone through what's in the console, in the glovebox, or on the dash. If I find anything interesting, I'll let you know. Without a doubt, my favorite word, because it is so useful in so many situations, and because it offends just about everyone without any predjudice or stereotype, and is spoken in one form or another in most all parts of the world in just about every language, is........ FUCK Thank you very much! Easy Does It

Oh gawd just what I wanted to see first thing in the morning - Pardon me while I gouge my eyeballs out! Easy Does It

It kind of makes me wonder about the regs here and there that require low-number jumpers to wear helmets - Doing RW, as you gain experience, you manuver more agressively and in much closer proximity to the other jumpers, (much the same with freeflying, I would suppose) thus increasing the chance of a freefall collision. I could suppose the spirit and intention would be that newer jumpers have a greater likelyhood of muffing a landing and cracking a skull, while more experienced folks are more likely to kick one another in the face trying to snap a 360 using our bellybutton as the turn axis. Most all of my jumps are RW and I wear a full-face as a rule. I've been kicked in the face a couple times and it would have been a bloody mess. Once in a while, like doing night jumps or hop-n-pops I'll wear an open face Pro-Tec, and maybe once or twice a year I'll go without completely- (Like when chasing the very occasional tandem-). I contradict myself in that I don't wear a helmet on my motorcycle, and I always wear a seatbelt in the car. All a matter of personal preference and freedom of choice. Easy Does It

Congratulations, and welcome to the family! Stick with us, and you'll have many new friends, nay, new family members, and a whole new lifestyle. This is not just a hobby, not just another sport like golf or mountain biking, it's much, much more! (((((HUGS)))))! And BEER!!!! Easy Does It

14 drawers built, 3 face fronts built, 0:and 0 = = = Spent the whole weekend playing Joe Carpenter again. Next time I get it in my head to build kitchen cabinets instead of buying - Who am I trying to kid? I Love it! I can't remember last time I had this much fun in the garage with my pants on! No jumps - Lousy weather - And I have been challenged by the Ground Hugging Whuffo that I can't stay away from the DZ long enough to finish the cabinets. Her son is supposed to start laying the tile for the new floor the weekend of the December 5th. I plan on being done well before that! See youse guys Thanksgiving Weekend! Easy Does It

Don't be surprised! I get in the shower in the morning and with the nice hot steam going, usually cough up a bunch of nasty crap as my lungs clean themselves - Nasty but it's getting better! Easy Does It

I'm right with ya, man - Just over the two-week mark without smoking. When you can have many beers and resist smoking, you've just about got it handled. I actually went bowling on my Thursday league and got trashed without lighting a single cigarette. I noticed my heart doesn't race like crazy when I climb ladders at work now, too. Easy Does It

Looking forward to seeing Cora and meeting you, Kramer! C-Ya Later! Easy Does It

0:1:0 One jump Saturday afternoon on the sunset load, zoo/combat RW with Fast, Indyz, Tiffany and Tom J. Froze my fingers under canopy (wrong gloves) but otherwise was nice and warm. - Hung out for the club meeting and spent the rest of the weekend building solid oak cabinets for the kitchen. This woodworking thing is actually beginning to become fun! "Sweet Sweet Sarah" has about 450 bucks saved for her tunnel fund!! Easy Does It

If the rigs will be there long-term, pull the pilot chutes out of the BOC pouches - Keeps the elastic in the Spandex happy and stretchy, as it won't want to remain stretched out- Easy Does It

I used to load my wing too heavy - I went straight to a 1.2-1.3 or wing loading on a Spectre 150 right off student status. (Around 25 jumps) I'm over 230 jumps now. I do not endorse anyone to do as I did. Edited to add: I plan on jumping this canopy for one more season. It will go in for new lines this winter, and then (funds providing) I'll be in the market for a complete NEW rig next winter. I'll probably be going for a Sabre2 at the same wing loading. I don't see myself getting any more aggressive with my wing loading than I am now. Easy Does It

Did you get your license before the rules changed?

Dumbest thing I've seen? When I was a young staff sgt. stationed at Griffiss I got a brand-new Airman assgned to me - His fist day on the base, he got drunk (underage no less) and started doing burnouts in a parking lot in the new Bitchin' Camaro his grandma gave him. (Spoiled white punk in the military story-) So, he sees the cops coming at him rolling red, and decides he can outrun them on Perimeter Road. Now mind you, Griffiss was a SAC base at the time, we had lots of B-52's with live nukes in the wings, and he was headed straight towards the Weapons Storage Area. By the time he got close, ( not even 2 minutes) there were two Humvees and several Peackeeper armored trucks blocking the road and a ton of weapons pointed in his general direction, along with several squads behind him. (The cops later admitted they over-reacted, but it was a good training opportunity.) He couldn't figure out how the cops knew he was coming. We had to remind him, he might be able to out-run the cop cars, but not a Motorola. He wound up under my charge for 45 days "additional duty" (Among lots of other disciplinary crap). I had him scrubbing warehouse floors with a toothbrush, literally, on Thanksgiving Day. Dumbest thing I've ever done? Getting married a second time! Easy Does It

How far have you come since your 1st post?
Dumpster replied to AggieDave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Started jumping in April of 2001,(well, did a Tandem jump in september of 2000.) Registered and starting posting here in June of 2001 - Did the static-line thing, downsized immediately from the 288 foot Mantas to a 150 foot Spectre (1.25:1)and lived through it, (Still jumping the Spectre, as a matter of fact. No desire to downsize further at this time -) I do nothing but RW - I'm not an RW snob, but my rig isn't 100% FF- Friendly, and I'm having so much fun on my belly. I have been on a few hybrids, though, and they absolutely rocked! Have 230 some-odd jumps now, more than half in the last nine months. Best season has been the current one, where I started jumping in 4-way competition. I've learned so much! Got my D license last month, and will be taking the coach course in the spring. I plan on making at least 200 jumps next year, and spending a good hour in the tunnel in Orlando in March. Not sure if I'll compete again next year, but plan on going for my AFF rating by the end of 2004. I've had one cutaway and two reserve rides, (had an AAD fire) and rode the plane down twice (Not by my own choice, though-) Oh, and one emergency exit - at 8,500'. Best advice I could give a newbie - Set healthy goals for yourself, and get good help in achieving them. Easy Does It -
25% pure- Yep- Life's been good! And interesting!! Easy Does It

I've got a cell phone, as does the wife, and my daughter who lives with us. I think the only reason I keep the home phone is for the DSL connection. I picked the "other" choice as my phone is provided to me by my employer, along with the free nationwide long distance and the nationwide walkie-talkie deal (Yep-Nextel!!). So I am electronically (sp?) enslaved to my boss. Unless I'm at the DZ. Then it gets shut off, since the only people I want to hear from are there, anyway. Easy Does It

I originally purchased my fullface just for cold weather jumping, but after getting kicked in the face several times doing full-contact 4-way combat RW, I wear it year-round now. And gloves- Yes - Gloves are good! Easy Does It
