  1. I'll vouch for Buddy Guys' Ledgends - Sharon and I have been down there several times, and a good time was had by all. If you haven't been to see Blue Man yet, they might have a weeknight show going, too. I haven't seen the show since 2001, I hear it's changed quite alot. Easy Does It
  2. And you forgot to include Zute Sute, too! (my personal preference-) Easy Does It
  3. 0:3:0 Assisted a Static Line FJC, then on to three jumps including a tracking dive led by Kyle Starck. I thought I could track! HA! Spent Sunday morning washing and detailing my truck, and the afternoon riding the Harley with Sharon. Easy Does It
  4. We have a better understanding of the weather than most ordinary folks - Sure - The forecast says cloudy, but how cloudy and how high are those clouds? Easy Does It
  5. Not many DZs myself - Sky Knights SPC (East Troy, WI) Indian Head SPC (Wissota, WI) Frontier Skydivers (Newfane, NY) Danielson Skydiving Center (Danielson, CT) Skydive Deland (Deland, FL) Chicagoland Skydiving (Hinckley, IL) Skydive Chicago (Ottawa, IL) 7 dropzones - Not bad I guess for some one with 300 jumps - I wonder if it's possible to jump in every state in the union? Easy Does It
  6. Thanks everyone! Yeah, it was a very good day for this kid! Easy Does It
  7. All I can do is hope I don't need that extra foot!

It's my birthday today, we're going out tonite for some great eats at Porters' Oyster Bar in Crystal Lake, IL. where we will also be digging some awesome Chicago Blues. Tomorrow I'm jumpin' my ass off, and partying like a rock star tomorrow night. So what are You folks doing this weekend?? Easy Does It
  9. Shouldn't be that bad at all - I changed one in my Ma's dryer when I was like 14 or 15 years old. Any one with a modest set of hand tools and reasonable mechanical aptitude should be able to do it. A little bit o' lectrical knowledge is helpful, but as long as you hook the wires back where they came off, you'll be fine. Let us know if anything catches fire, though, and get video! Easy Does It
  10. Gotta bump this back to the top - Have I mentioned we're leaving for Jamaica in three weeks? The 23rd. At 6 AM. Yes, that's right, this time three weeks from now we'll be on a plane headed for Jamaica. We plan on killing alot of brain cells. And it will take at least a week for our liver to dry out. I think it will be fun!? Easy Does It
  11. One of my goals was to get my Coach rating, which I did, and I've been able to put it to fairly good use, too. Hitting my goal for # of jumps doesn't look likely. There's always next year, which for me includes getting my AFF instructor rating, and competing in NSL 4-way. Easy Does It
  12. Yes indeed! - Let those who ride, decide! I wear seatbelts. I ride without a helmet. I've gone down twice, low speed, and was fortunate to come out with nothing more than a broken toe and some road rash. I know I may not always be that fortunate. When I jump, I mostly wear a full-face when doing RW and go without when doing hop-n-pops. I like to wear a frap hat when doing coach jumps, so I have a place for my dytter and the student can see my facial expressions. I have a cypress, and no RSL. (I don't subscribe to the "if you have a cypress you don't need an RSL" school of thought.) So I guess you could say I sort of straddle that "fence" so to speak? Easy Does It
  13. All I've heard around the shop, etc, is Mustang is "OK" if you want the look but don't plan on spending a long time in the saddle. The way to go is either Corbin or LePera, if you've got the bucks. Easy Does It
  14. "How to Win Friends and Influence People" - Dale Carnegie. Reading for anyone in a sales posistion. (I'm not in sales anymore, but still good reading) The Celestine Prophecy (get me on spelling here-) The Bible - Read a good portion of both testaments. MAD magazine. Anything by Hunter S. Thompson The Bloom County Chronicles. (Berkley Breathed - You know the guy-!) Easy Does It
  15. Any time between Jan. 1st and Dec. 31st is my favorite time. Easy Does It
  16. I'd have to say my 2004 Toyota Tacoma is worth much more that my rig, but the trucked I traded in, a '93 Ford Ranger, was probably worth about the same as my rig. Easy Does It
  17. 1:4:? Highlight of the weekend was seeing my twin grandsons for the first time! They are two very beautiful boys! (I promise one of these days I'll figure out how to post pictures of all this cool stuff I talk about - ) Worked Satruday morning until 9:00, picked up Sharon at the house then headed to O'Hare to send her off to Conneticut (to visit her Mom) - My oldest daughter Liz is moving back to NY from Alaska and had a layover at O'Hare also, so we went to the airport early and spent a couple hours visiting and taking pictures of her and MY TWIN GRANDSONS! WooHoo! Sharon is off to visit her mom for a couple weeks - I get to be crazy for a little while! I think the vacation will do us both good. Four jumps out of the Casa this weekend - Jumped with Roger Ponce on the base of a 12-way. Took a newbie ( < 50 jumps ) up on a nice little 5-way, we went out first, stepping off the tailgate backwards so we could watch the plane and the other 3 jumpers follow after us. It was a good weekend. Easy Does It
  18. 0:5:0 Mostly coaching jumps this weekend - A good deal of packing, too - We had about 22 tandem students Saturday, can't say about Sunday. Easy Does It
  19. I took out the base on a POPS state record attempt - (and we never recovered-) Easy Does It
  20. Yeah - One showed up in my mailbox, too. I haven't purchased from them in a long time, and I'm within driving distance of Skokie. Pleasant surprise, makes for a good wish book, y'know? Easy Does It
  21. 0:5:0 Five jumps, broke the 300 mark first thing Saturday with a nice no-presure four - way. Four points, we engineered the dive on the plane and actually pulled it off. Did a coach jump with me daughter Sarah. She is doing so well for some one with 16 jumps! Saw Ladyskydiver (Hi Cora!!!)very briefly before I had to run off to do a demo jump at an airshow. Unfortunately it never happened due to aircraft issues. Went back to the DZ and made three more jumps, concluding with a waycool speedstar jump. (beer rules!) Sunday we put about 150 miles on the bike with about 50 other guys and now have a severe case of that sunglasses-eye-tanline-sunburn thing. Pass the Noxema, please! Not a bad weekend - Jumping all day Saturday and riding all day Sunday! Easy Does It
  22. I was into the ham radio thing for a while - Until I discovered skydiving - I just finished selling my old gear for - You guessed it! - More skydiving stuff! (And a new speedometer for my motorcycle-) Easy Does It
  23. Driving through Adirondack National Park is a treat - You'll see some of the most fantasic lodges built back in the days of Roosevelt, etc. In September the wildlife will be abundant, too if you're planning on doing any serious hiking. Most of the tourist mob should be thinning out, too. Easy Does It
