  1. Not at all. I doubt our invasion of Iraq could be used to justify the CIC as an enemy of the Constitution. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  2. If I understand the amazing system of checks and balances that the US constitution offers, unconstitutionality can only be determined by the judicial branch (and not by members of the armed forces). I can't find anything in the Constitution about the Judicial Branch having the authority to declare a President an enemy of the Constitution. Where exactly is this authority granted? 3. I suspect that in the US there are more car models not available with a manual transmission than there are models not available with an automatic transmission. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  4. Manual, although I would prefer an automatic since I don't drive a sports car. A limo and driver would be even better. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  5. I agree. However, that doesn't answer the question. I'm not implying we are in such a scenario. I am saying such a scenario is a real possibility, even if only in the future. What is the responsibility of the soldier / officer? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  6. ".............half-baked and silly disproofs that are based on deliberate misrepresentations ........."
  7. Congress is supposed to keep the CIC in check in such situations. Our Congress has been slacking. They either: Intended to give the President all the authority he has claimed to have with regards to the invasion of Iraq. or did not intend to give the President such broad power, and have also done not much of anything to reign in a President over reaching his authority. Either way, Congress has been slacking. And it hasn't just been the Republicans, though they are likely the greater of the two evils. Our system is broken, but we are too busy looking in the mirrors and admiring our own perceived perfection to notice such details. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 9. I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God. and I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God. These are the oaths all us enlisted soldiers and commissioned officers (respectively) take. My question is simple: What is the responsibility of a soldier or officer should the President be an enemy of the Constitution? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  10. Watch this A pretty high res version of the HUDF can be found here (I strongly recommend taking an hour or so to look through the archives of that site - it's truly humbling) and a cool Q and A about the image can be found here. Some of the facts that jump out - 10,000 galaxies in a patch of sky that appears smaller than a large crater on the moon, light from the faintest objects reached the telescope at a rate of less than 1 photon per minute, and the image took 11.3 days of exposure time to build up. And one more thing you need to look at it to find out - it is amazingly beautiful
  11. Much like the original Thanksgiving: i take the food a person gives me, then commit genocide on this person and his/her family. Then once a year, I have a "Thanking" thought for them poor bastards... Funniest damn thing I've read all day. Thanks, Frenchy. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  12. I used to feel the same way about lawsuits against the tobacco industry until I found out they were taking steps to make their product more addictive. If you choose to remove the "free" from free market by largely eliminating your customers' ability to not purchase your product, you forego the protection of law in that free market. You're absolutely right. We just have to be willing to be responsible for our actions while in this world. That includes corporations. Let 'em pay. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! 16. Yeah!! Damn those lying Republicans!!! I guess it's safe to put those translate documents from Hussein's science committee back on the internet, then - after all, he didn't have any WMDs and wasn't anywhere close to having them....right?? You seem a bit defensive, considering I made no mention of partisan politics. I believe: The United States' first priority should be removing the Republicans from power. The second priority should be preventing the Democrats from taking the Republicans' place. Sadly, until enough people realize our system's broke, we all lose (not just Americans). So please, save your petty partisan copy and pastes for someone who sees the left as something other than merely a very slight improvement over the right. Back on topic, do you believe Iraq has been anything besides a major fuck-up that has costed thousands of lives? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  17. The last half of 13, and number 22 seem like decent ideas. Number 6 might save lives, or at least cost fewer lives than the present course of action. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  18. It's nice to know we invaded the sovereign country of Iraq to find WMD with which Saddam could attack America with only forty-five minutes notice remove Saddam from power so a democratic government could be established start an Iraqi civil war. 19. It is a lack of justice that allows cop killers (assuming the killing happened during the commission of a crime, and not in a premeditated manner) to be charged with first degree murder. What makes a cop's life more valuable than a regular civilian's? If a civilian is killed in such a manner, it is second degree murder. Cops shouldn't be special. If anything is different, the charges should be reduced, not increased, since the cops are armed and trained. Any cop that doesn't realize that policing can be a dangerous job before joining a police force is quite simply too stupid to hold the position anyway. Suck it up and drive on, or find a new line of work. But please don't bitch about how dangerous the job is. As for video recordings, I know of at least one Drug War freedom fighter who has remained a free man because he records all his interactions with the police. Such recording devices help keep citizens free in a police state. For those wondering, the overwhelming majority of my interactions with the police have been negative. I have, however, met some very humble foreign police officers. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  22. As previously noted, Newton's "laws" were not discovered to be fraudulent. They were discovered to be incomplete. But, since you asked: The Maxwell equations were not invariant when transformed between different inertial frames of reference via Galilean transformations. The Michelson - Morley experiment showed that the speed of light was consistent for an observer regardless of the observer's inertial frame of reference. Einstein's theory of special relativity was derived from two postulates: 1. The laws of physics are the same in all reference frames. 2. The speed of light in a vacuum is equal to the value of c, independent of the motion of the source. A master of logic was Al. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  23. This sort of incident doesn't support your assertion: Time magazine gets caught lying Nope, it sure doesn't. Neither does an article about Foley emailing pages. Both are irrelevant to the subject at hand. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  24. Bullshit. WordPerfect is heads and tails above MS Word in quality. It's just that most people have Word now (the "industry standard" in the old DOS days used to be WordPerfect 5.1) because (a) it came bundled either with the software already downloaded onto new PC or PC-compatible computer, or with packages like MS Office, which includes Outlook, Excel, etc. I haven't used WordPerfect since DOS 5.0, but Word was much better back then, hands down. Word has come a long way since then, and is still the best word processing app I've used. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
