no offense but that sounds like drawing the line at the lowest common denominator..... of course that could be why McDonalds warn people their coffee is hot I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I tend to find that they fit exactly what they say they will. Mind you on the upper limits it generally takes a certain amount more care with the preparation of the reserve prior and during bagging to make sure that the end result fits nicely. There are many different ways to fold a canopy in preparation but I have only found a couple that i like to use with Wings. general rule of thumb I use is if I cant get my thumb/fore-finger very easily around the centre of the pack job between the slider grommets I start again. Also a fold that leaves plenty to fill the bottom corners on either side of the AAD is important. I see a lot of people that make a very 'square' end to the bag and ears who struggle to get the canopy to fit. ymmv :) I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Moving the aad cutter? Which rig has the bulletin?
koppel replied to hackish's topic in Gear and Rigging
That i am aware no rig with the cutter below the free-bag has or requires the mod. Another good source of online SB's is at the Australian Parachute Federation Wiki http://docs.apf.asn.au/index.php/Rigging_and_Equipment I like my canopy... ...it lets me down. -
I have had a pair for about 3 years now i think. I use them just about all day every day. I have had the lens pop out when cleaning a number of times but never any other time. I have lost a couple of nose pieces however and they have replaced them for free no questions asked. I seem to remember hearing something about a change in lens size... that would affect things. hope that helps. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

When selling gear within the local area I never take a deposit. When selling outside my local area it depends on who they are and who will vouch for them. I do take the time to call their local DZ or find out if there are people I know in that area that know them. If I am not comfortable with the answers then I generally take about 30% of retail. I have financed complete canopies, AAD's and rigs for people with monthly payments as well and touch wood have never been let down. It sucks but the bottom line its a business and we know there are assholes out there. I am all for a public forum. You could put it in the SCAMS forum as that is exactly what it is. Strong Dual Hawk Tandem ALS Bag: sew velcro closed or not?
koppel replied to 980's topic in Gear and Rigging
that is correct. I make no comment as to the right or wrong of it just that I have seen it. I would not make that modification myself but know of a couple of places that have bags like that and they have not had a problem with it when I asked about the bags when I first saw them. why don't any of the other manufacturers use an ALS bag? Strong Dual Hawk Tandem ALS Bag: sew velcro closed or not?
koppel replied to 980's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have seen a number of bags that are sewn and have also been modified to only have a single flap ie standard bag on any other gear. they look much easier to work with. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down. -

wings container for a 170, now with a 190...any problem?
koppel replied to artistcalledian's topic in Safety and Training
Pilots do pack larger and Wings have relatively small bags compared to some other rigs. If you want a 190, get the rig for a 190. You will save your self $$$ on packers and stress in yourself ;) I like my canopy... ...it lets me down. -

As DSE said there are a few that will do the job but my preference to date has to be Cookie Composites. In a market where there are a number of good products it often comes down to the customer service. Not bad mouthing anyone else just praising a good company. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I am lucky to work with a couple of people with this sort of experience. John Cook CI recently passed 10,000 Brett Newman approx 13,000 jumps, also Rigger par excellence and Angela Heisler who is just a hundred or so jumps shy of 10,000 jumps. I wonder how many lovely ladies like this have reached that goal. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I have had two Tandem cut-aways in around 1700 tandems. Both with Handcam and didn't even consider or realise there was a glove on my hand. Certainly didn't get in the way. As for "nostril cam" I have just got a cx100 and am using a Cookie Composites .2 with a Downward Trend Glove. WOW!!! can't wait to get it in the air, Field of View is AWESOME!!! not sure I agree with you. I just packed a PD126-R into a V304 last night. Went in fine. Main was a Velo 90 previously but is now a Xfire 116. No issues with closing, only using a PLD for the last flap, pulling the rest up by hand and it closes nicely. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I sold a W4 to someone who wanted it for a Katana 83 but had a Sabre 120 (old) for wingsuiting. He used it and said that it fit snugly but do-able for wingsuiting. He did have the sides of the main tray unstitched. He now has a Velo 79 in there and says it fits great. hope that helps

saftey seal jams reserve (non deployment)
koppel replied to i_like_to_fly's topic in Safety and Training
I still remember the Instructor on my FJC laying a canopy out in the class room and while he was explaining the names of the parts he took off his shoes and proceeded to walk all over the canopy saying "It's not a Sacred Cow, don't be afraid of it but do treat it with respect and it will save your life" I like my canopy... ...it lets me down. -
I run Cookie Composite lenses with a filter and same same. Immaculate underneath and the filter is a cheap replacement. I find that ALL lenses are liable to get scratched in our line of work at some time or another. In fact I have never heard of one that doesn't. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I've ben using my own paper seals for a few years now on the recommendation of our Director of Riggers. I have been using the seals that you would have seen for nearly a year. The only thing I would like to see is the overall size of them reduced slightly. I find on certain rigs there is a chance of them being pinched as the flap gets closed leading to the tie being broken if people aren't careful. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

how many sigma tm's clear risers in event of bag lock?
koppel replied to skydiveoc's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Glad it all worked out. One question please, how often is 3-ring maintenance done on that rig? Is it a set number of jumps, ie every 25/50 jumps? A set time frame ie every week/fortnight etc Is there a system that tracks and ensures that in fact the schedule that is in place is followed? Not casting doubts on your systems, just wondering what they are. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
