There is in Australia. We are covered now by the LHMU (Liquor, Hospitality & Miscellaneous.... wonder which part we come under ) Membership is growing and negotiations are under way. There is a push by some companies in Australia for individuals to become Proprietary Limited companies. While there are some benefits on the whole the cost and benefits do not outweigh the draw backs and the work force are reluctant to become Pty Ltd. There has been some very underhand methods employed by some but not all the companies pushing this manifesto. Divide and Conquer is one of the axioms at the moment. Some companies are happy to sit down with the Union and things are moving forward. there are now full time Skydiving Instructor Professionals so its time for the industry to recognise that it is not just life style any more for many workers I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

PD canopies come with canopy material, lines and inks. Containers come with toggles, risers, d-bags etc While you may be happy with the performance of the toggles to date and while they may not have had a direct influence in the incident it would be worth having them checked and/or replacing by a pair from the manufacturer if of course your risers are not after-market as well I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

500-750 depending on location. Beaches are cruel to line sets while softly manicured grass as Rhys said is nice. I haven't seen many going to the 1,000 that someone else mentioned mind I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I sadly can tell you from personal experience even when they are connected to the poppers when the student does a jump that it is still easy for it to reach and/ to disconnect and hit them in the mouth. Long time ago before I consider this problem I was doing a final photo for a TM student and I encouraged them to do the jump. Kindly they never took any action and put it down to 'one of those unfortunate things' I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I have a GAS which I use for swooping mostly without a visor. Love it. Recently put the visor on for 8 way and after a few jumps of getting used to it I am sold on full face helmets though I think I will still take the visor off for swooping. I got to try on a G2 the other day and it was so much lighter and felt smaller. The one I tried on was in matt instead of shiney and looked awesome. Having ridden motorcycles for 30 odd years the only thing I find odd about the G2 is that it takes two hands to open but the security of their system is excellent. I predict many teams are going to get this helmet. VFR/RW its all the same. I am not sure if it is a simple task to take the visor on and off. If so then I will be getting one to replace my GAS but if not then I will stick to my GAS as I like the wind for swooping. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

try getting on a kiddie swing.... also see if you can find one of those 70's kiddie toys. two pieces of line with a handle at each end and a ring on it. One person spreads their handles as far as they can and the ring shoots towards the other person. The reason why pushing the risers together works is that it brings the twist towards the load of the parachute and allows the parachute to open more fully. Once the twists are that low you can manually remove them by twisting the risers and yourself underneath rather than kicking which is a high energy and low impact method. Works as well as doing little often. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

The semantics here is that the production company here said that could not be fooled into firing other than when it was needed. Also they had been advised that people were meeting firing parameters and they stood by their original statement. It took the loss of a world figure to get their attention. care to tell everybody what the correction parameters of an Argus are? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

As a dealer I carry a stock (albeit a small amount) of cutters so those of my customers that need them urgently, ie cameraflyers/instructors etc will be getting those and then I will send them back express and then replace as people require. Those that stock Argus will also have stock units on the shelf and they can pull cutters off them in the mean time as well. As much as I hate the cost of the shipping I figure I will bear it as part of a business cost. I made a small amount of cash selling the units so now I bear the cost. Customer service counts. its not just the 'mis-fires' of an AAD brand that you need to consider but also the 'no-fire' when it should that you need to look at. Lots of information out there that is not clear or where the person had bias when writing the report. I strongly believe that you pick the one you are happy with for reasons that make sense to you and go jump it. having one is far better than not having one is a proven fact by the fact that more people have been saved by their use than hurt by having one. I jump an Argus and 'personally' find them to be the best unit out there and the one that I trust my life and my family and friends to. you may find something else. enjoy the BS that people spout on the subject I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

thanks bucketlistpilot, you are correct when you say that is not what I want. Sometimes the irony can be lost on a keyboard. The fact is that whilst the APF say that they had little information from Aviacom in this matter to start with there was also little information for the restriction to be placed. There are arguments of Duty of Care to Students and Novices. This is in some areas a fair argument and in others can be shown to be less well thought out than it sounds. I believe that people should use whichever AAD they feel comfortable with. I personally sell all 3 major brands but choose to jump an Argus. I believe in the ethos of both Airtec and Aviacom that a piece of equipment like this needs to be serviced at regular periods. I guess it comes down to whether people agree with a knee jerk reaction by their governing body as a first step and worry about the look of it later or if they feel they should have solid information before making such decisions. But no, I do not wish to see any of them off the market. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

The interesting thing here is that with almost as little information as we have here on the Cypres the Australian Parachute Federation restricted the use of the Argus AAD to B Certificate and higher, ie not for Students or Novices this year 12 months after the Polish incident. I guess now they will have to do the same with Cypres and only allow them to be used with B certificate and higher as there has been 'speculation' that the AAD has not done its job....... not an uncommon problem to have and the answer is much simpler than you may realise. I will take you through step by step... pull the line down until the brake setting is through the ring and set the toggle. now set the toggle into the upper keeper. turn the riser over so you are looking at the reverse side. Squeeze the riser from the sides so that the elastic forms a bulge away from the riser and set the excess line through (I go from container towards canopy with the excess myself) once the excess is stowed turn the riser back over and place the lower part of the toggle into the appropriate keeper. It is very difficult to set the excess with the toggle in the lower keeper but really quite easy if its not in place hence the sequence above. let me know how you get on.

from my limited 8-10 jumps on an mPod I would be very cautious about jumping a canopy that was not well sized for the container and the bag. while the magnets are effective to a degree there is only so much shit you can stuff into a 5lb bag... I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

my comment refers to the fact that after this many years and their claims of so many units sold that the R&D should have been paid by now and they should be able to offer their product at a more competitive rate. and from the R&D that I have seen released from the newer brands I have no issues with jumping my Argus I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

agreed, Argus (Aviacom) will continue to be my AAD of choice. All the benefits, Servicing every four years, affordable batteries, low cost maintenance... seems to me that it offers the same things that Cypres does.... just at better value. I figure when something is new on the market that sure there is an R&D cost to pay but if the new boys can come along and do it cheaper you can bet that Airtec could too but they have been used to having the playing field to themselves. I think over the next few years the whole question of which brand will be more like Nike or Addias... its the pretty colours and the fancy adverts that will sell rather than the features etc I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
