  1. Maybe it is not by mistake if you listen to Freud I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  2. Depends on the type of AAD. I learnt on a DZ that uses Cypres (and now Argus as well I believe) on the reserve and FXC1200J on the main. I am not a fan of this system due to the fact that FXC have a large window firing. The factory talk about a 300'Plus/Minus window on the firing height but I have seen closer to +/- 1000 myself. 6. generally I would agree that it looks like it could be a scam. Then however if you look closer at the sellers feedback they have 99.6 and over 12,500 transactions. Have a look at how ling the have been a member as well. Over ten years. I would look into it further if the rig interests you. I think it could be on the up and up. Notice they also showed all the serial numbers etc so easy to check up on it. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  7. there are people that like women other than a redhead. Fools!!! I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  8. riggerpaul, well found. Thanks for your help. I never noticed it as I am sure many others didnt due to it being hidden away from all the other links and menu's on the page. I wonder if this is intentional or just an oversight on their part? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  9. for that matter could you find any of the previous Service Bulletins either? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  10. hiya d123 not sure if you have got the answer yet but here you go. The problem is not really a problem. I am a Wings dealer and one of the points that I make sure I explain to all new Wings owners is how to check that the reserve handle is in place and secured properly. There is a piece of Hook Velcro stitched onto the Main Lift Web and there is a piece of Type XII webbing that has the Pile stitched to it. This piece of webbing is stitched along one side so that it can lift and allow the handle to be placed between the Hook and Pile. It is important on each jump to stick your finger inside and feel that you can't feel metal but only webbing. I have known people to hvae their rigs moved or handled and the reserve handle to come out and said person places handle back in without knowing about the flap system and the handle is then not secure and will indeed come out very easily. The benefit of this system is that there is less chance of the handle being extracted or pushed out by flexing of the MLW. Of course the draw-back of the system is that it is not the 'same' as all other systems. hope that helps I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  11. This has been an issue on a number of different manufacturers not just Wings. We have had a few Vectors and other rigs coming through our loft recently that needed the hard-ware changed out. It is sadly not really always noticeable until the rig is jumped. There is a fix that Wings have that is simple for any competent rigger to do and the SB can be found on their website. I find that this fix is probably cheaper than sending it back to the factory but no-one will work on your rig quite like the manufacturer either I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  12. overall I agreed with most of what you said Lee. I must say however that i think your advice here is possibly ill-thought out. When we as riggers talk to people about what they are going to buy and what they are going to jump the focus should be on what is right for them and what is safest. Without going deeply into the debate of whether Chest rings are a good idea or not (I personally do not like them for the excessive horizontal movement they allow in rig) we should not advise people to get or not get a feature or a container based on what they "might possibly" decide to do with it in the future. It is akin to when I hear people being advised that its ok to get that 'smaller' rig with that 'smaller' reserve and main 'as long as they are careful to start with'. It is attitudes like this that get people hurt and killed. Not a personal attack lee just sharing my thoughts. :) I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  13. Those are all parts of the container and should not be sold with a canopy. The D-bag in particular is not only manufacturer specific but it is also model specific. ie a d-bag for a Wings W1 is not suitable for a Wings W11. There can be some very serious consequences form mixing parts from different container systems. Please check with you rigger. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

  15. What size canopies do have there? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  16. hvae to disagree with that. I like the design of the Wings freebag though I don't open it up all the way to bag the canopy. Love the pocket that keeps the velcro hook away from the lines and have no issues with them being a problem to pack. Of course like ALL rigs there are tricks to making them look good. The biggest thing I see from riggers that don't like to pack something is a lack of time spent reading the manual and doing some basic research into what they are handling. 17. The way I hear it you have a good enough collection of old gear anyhow right ;) I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  18. do you pack with or without the use of a PLD? @ peek - cheers for the tip. Already use those. One of my favourite tools :) I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  19. Its crazy that it is common knowledge that the reserve system is prone to loose pins. I have packed only a couple of DHT's and disliked that it was difficult to get good tension on the pins. Possibly I don't have the experience with them and people know an easy trick to improve this but I didn't find anything online when I looked. Anyone got any good links or is it just a simple fact that that is the way the rigs are? Glad it worked out for you. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  20. easy! i encourage all my customers to come and watch their reserve being repacked anytime they like. i also encourage them to bring a 6-pack of good beer to drink afterwards for them to ask all their questions then rather that during the pack job itself if possible. 21. Does the Atom system require the use of a MIL-Spec band or can any elastic band be used? Does the Atom system use shock cord with a locking slide or just an elastic band? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  22. We change them every line set or as and when wear dictates whichever is the soonest. :) I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  23. I did my first solo at 33 (12th july 2003). done nearly 4000 jumps since got my ratings (S/L, AFF, TM, Rigger) and quit being a Mortgage Broker and am now Broke and can't afford a Mortgage wouldn't have it any other way. get out there and live life mate, hvae fun. let us know when you hvae done your FJC I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  24. Nope. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  25. of course the manufacturer suggest that the optimum loading for this canopy IIRC is 1.6-1.8 I have owned three. One of the very early models and two of the new versions. I liked them all. I got better swoops out of the early model but better openings out of the later ones. I found that the first stage of the snivel on opening was gentle and that the second stage could be brisk, though never hard. All in all I did around 900-1000 jumps on this size and model and loved it. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
