  1. not directed at any person in particular WINGS ROCK!! I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  2. I understand people having reservations on new ideas. People were the same with the Skyhook. There is always reservations to change. However as to only being able to recommend one unit, that I am not sure about. The fact is that even Cypres with all their time in the field still have issues. They also have units that will suddenly and without reason fail. This is not an attack on Cypres or a defence of other brands. Simply a fact that when you take a piece of apparatus such as an AAD and use it at some point there is a liklihood of failure with so many units in the field. When this happens it is not because this model or that model are not safe. It is because it is inevitable. The crux of the matter is in how the company deals with such. Open and honest will get my vote any day over information being kept behind closed doors. As this is in the Argus thread I will comment however that up until this point I am very happy with how they have dealt with providing information. I know that not all manufacturers of AAD's like to be as open in this area as they could be. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  3. Come to Australia and do your 9 Stage AFF course for 780 pounds and then consol jumps for about 35 pounds each (inc gear hire/packing etc) it almost pays for the ticket and a great time over here I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  4. I've always said my dream jump would be to take a surfboard for a skysurf and cut-away the main as I catch a wave. Now seeing as I can't surf yet or skysurf for that matter it's going to be a long haul before it happens. But it is my dream jump for sure! I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  5. 6 belly and 3 hangers broke into three and then rebuilt I believe it was either at Funny Farm boogie or Picton DZ Australia I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  6. I used just those things all the way through my course. Only mine had cute little teddy bear heads on them I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  7. and thats what I get for posting 4am on a Sat morning before work. Yes if the Kill-line is too long it will wind up. I think I got got caught up thinking about the shortening of the bridle will make it spin worse if they dont shorten the kill-line I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  8. when your p/c is collapsed is there any of the kill-line still visible at the bridle at the p/c end. Often if the kill-line is a bit short then it will cause the bridle to spin up like that. If its the kill-line its a cheaper fix than the bridle. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  9. custom moulded -25dB myself like those in pic 2. From before the engine starts until I land. No troubles at all I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  10. damn boy! I run that on my helmet, big ass camera to be using for handcam. No issues with the size/weight then? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  11. I was taught a method by a Russian Jumper Vasili (21,000+ jumps) that is basically that in the video. Difference being that instead of holding the risers one hand on each at the start just push them together. no Danger of being caught up in the twists that way and also it helps bring the twists down the lines allowing the canopy to breathe. I have had to use it a few times from highly loaded x-brace to Tandem canopies and it works well. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  12. At our DZ we have the following in use PC350, PC9, PC108, HC5(hiDef), PC1000 I think that more of us will b heading towards the HC series in the next year or so All the gloves are from Brett Newman who builds them for the well known Cookie Composites I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  13. look here for information on the Australian Cloud Jumping Procedres I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  14. Contact the manufacturer if you know who purchased it and when and they can give you all the information MFD SN etc I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  15. The loft I am at is Aussie $80 + tax (10%) I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  16. No need for a LANC port unless you feel 'Must' have a cameye. Many people run a camera without a cameye or similar so no need to worry. As for a camera, on this side of the world we swear by SONY, any model. Have fun, and dont be upset when the first few jumps dont deliver any footage. Battery, cameye etc learning curve I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  17. Well said - apart from the bit about .....er sorry. Each to their own boring if we all liked the same thing, hey? in reply to the sarcasm from the other fella, well I never said I was the be all and end all. All I said was that if you have trouble making something look good, ie how it is meant to look per the manufacturer then take the time to speak to them. They seem to all want to help on this. I think as people responsible for other peoples gear that we should make it not only safe but look as good as the $$$'s that people have spent on the rig of their choice. As for looks, well really one man prefers Blondes another Brunettes. Pick what you like. I still stand by WINGS though I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  18. As a rigger AND the owner of 3 WINGS...WIthout a doubt WINGS. Easy to pack, great features and stylish looks. Any rigger who complains that they cannot make this rig or that rig look good are only stating that they havent taken the time to learn about that rig. A quick call to the manufacture is generally all that is needed to make the difference. I learnt to pack reserves on Racers (certainly not my first choice or rigs) which is a container that lots of people say they cant make look good. Since I took the time to talk to JumpShack I can make them look as good as if they came from the factory almost every time. If it doesnt look good I do it again. So riggers, learn your stuff and contact the manufacturers. BTW go the WINGS and you wont regret it. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  19. cant help you with video of what you have asked for in your original post. I would like to mention that in my part of the world 'Line Dump' would be generally referring to a deployment sequence where the lines have released from the stows in an order not exactly reversed from how they were made. The canopy would generally be considered to still be in the bag until line stretch. Line dump in that consideration would still be a major issue as the bag has slowed down to a greater degree due to no tension on the lines and therefore the opening is that much more sudden and with more drastic consequences. I find it hard to imagine a situation where the canopy can come out of the bag before the lines have reached line stretch except possibly where the locking stows and all normal stows are so loose as to allow the canopy to egress the bag early. If someone was jumping equipment in that state then personally they probably will get whats they deserve C'mon folks lets look after our gear and ourselves. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  20. HI I am posting this on behalf of a friend who is not too computer literate. He has sent an email to the OP but his thoughts are well stated so would be good value added to the debate. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  21. Neat looking rig (somewhat like a VORTEX). Personally not a fan of Chest Rings as they can allow too much movement of the container at times. Maybe you could wear a WHITE jump suit so we can see the rig better I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

    Blind Tandems

Dunno about a blind TM but I worked on a DZ where there was a blind (she could distinguish dark and light and had about 5% vision) Static Line Student. She did about a dozen jumps and got into freefall. They used back ups on everything. Dyters/radio etc. she even landed off by hereself on one jump. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  23. Well if you consider the fact of exit seperation then there should be no-one to put in jepordy as their path in free-fall should not cross yours. If there someone on a trajectory that will cross yours then there has been a failure of exit seperation and you were already in jepordy. So for my 0.02c at his stage anytime you lose height awareness with nothing to reference it from (ie not enough freefall time to recognise what height your at) then PULL. It is the first rule of skydiving. When you find you ahve the experience to recognise your height approximately you can decide whether to pull immediately or to take it down to a level you are comfortable, but it is always your perogative to save your own life. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  24. Gotta agree. Just want to add that I emailed karl about putting a ine set I have from an 'older' Vision onto a newer model. Didnt have the serial numbers just a rough idea of when I had ordered them. It took him all of two minutes to respond with the serial numbers. Still looking into the answer for me but WOW was that fast or what. Now it may have been that he just happened to be sat at the computer then but he made me feel like as a customer I was important to them. thanks I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
  25. Spend our money on jumping instead of spending it on gear. When you have a bunch of jumps yourself you will have an idea what you like. If I asked you what car to buy what would you tell me? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
