PM sent I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

one of the containers that I regularly pack the reserve on is a Racer built originally for a 150 main and a 249 reserve. The container was recently sent back to Jump Shack to be resized to take a 170 main and now instead of a 249 reserve he uses a 190. Nancy said to make it a real 'fluffy' pack to fill it out but I cant get rid of all the bloody creases in it of course thats not Jump Shacks fault as it wasnt made for that small reserve I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

This I need to add to my LIST for Engineers 1. If it was important my Instructors will tell me 2. When I need to know my Instructors will tell me 3. If my Instructors didn't tell me about that yet it is information that i do not need yet 4. Stop thinking about anything other than what my Instructors told me 5. Litany - "I can be in control without knowing the cosine of the convergant with regards to the nodual co-efficient" 6. Thanks William, will there be any kind of reference, such as a stick like Airtec whereby the rigger can easily tell if the unit has been tested or will contacting you be the only way. It is convienient to be able to see a units last service date or last battery easily. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Mine arrived and were I installed the pretty little units about 2-3 weeks ago very happy with the unit when i finally got to hold it and examine it. Nicely constructed, simple to use I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Cypres has a sticker on the unit so the rigger can easily tell when the last service was. Vigil - no service except when it fails to arm (not sure about that one) Argus - Too early to tell. Anyone know more? Astra - never seen one here in Oz so couldn't help you. FXC - have it on the plate from memory So I guess riggers can tell pretty easily when it was last serviced. C'mon Squeak, We Aussies aren't bright enough to do it on the small rigs, only the big ones with the easy grips and the extra handles. On a sports rig you only have two handles so it has to be fitted to the right one. On a Tandem you have lots of handles and as the old addage goes "Keep pulling handles..." therefore it doesnt matter which one they hook it up to it will eventually work. and in Australia you will pay betwen Au$2000-Au$2500 to get a license and I think the decline is pretty similar to that of the States. I'm not sure that it is the "Cost" of getting there. Supposedly as a whole western society has more disposable income than that of previous generations so maybe we need to look at other things. Possibly its our image. Sure, Sure. I wonder if Mr Cani would lend me his 39sq ft for the weekend? Hmmmmm... I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Not tried the phone booth yet but have done the - Blind fold (sweet opening) - Blind fold drunk (worked ok) - Pack on a cushion. Take a seat cushion off a sofa and no part of you or the canopy is allowed off or you have to start again. (Best opening ever) I can see it now.. teams from all over the world competing in the I.D.B/F.P Comp. See you there I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

My girl was the best student I ever had when it came to packing lessons. She was a student with about half a dozen jumps when she wanted to learn to pack. I was a busy vidiot - S/L jumpmaster Pack 1. Watched me pack with explanations Pack 2. Same as lesson one Pack 3. talked her through a pack job as she did it Pack 4. Watch her with no input. Great pack job. Never talked to her aobut packing again. I got about 4-500 pack jobs out of her before she became a vidiot and too busy to pack for me. And all it cost me was ......... oh yeah and a Rig/camera etc etc etc I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

So what about this idea of Wings - there is a triangular flap on the top of the bag that is stitched to the bridle at the apex of the triangle. This transfers load from a single point at the centre of the bag to all along the width of the bag. In fact every student container had this at my first DZ. I like it. Any of you guru's out there got any for or against on the subject of whether it is a good idea or whether it works. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Anyone is welcome at my house for lessons as oftn as they like until they are confident to do it themselves without supervision. As for payment, no-one charged me to teach me so keep \the tradition strong. ITS FREE YOU IDIOTS! I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

As I said I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. And it appears that you have your head screwed on the right way for what your doing. Not everyone does. I agree that its good to get rid of the gear fear that many people have. As you said you spoke to your rigger first so you had already covered that base. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
-
Not to give you a hard time about it but I hate it when clients start pulling things out of their rigs or open them if they are bringing them to me for work. Why not wait until you are at your rigger's loft and then do it with them so they can teach you how to do it properly and in a suitable environ. Rant over. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I might test the fabric as well as do an inspection and then pack it happily if it passes I would have happily used the 20 year old X228 that I had in one of my containers until very recently. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Mines a Cookie Comp, done about 200 with it now and love it. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

the chances of this happening are equal to the force the handle creates as it trancends the arc from the attachment point. If there is a small amount of excess cable the force created will be smaller than if there is a large amount of excess cable, where the force will be great. Also the weight of the handle needs to be considered. The lighter the handle the lower the chance of it deploying the pin and finally the closing force of the loop on the reserve pin. In Australia we have a maximum pull force allowed of 22lbs on the reserve pin. I know of a rigger who doesnt like to put more than 14 lbs on the loop. His would therefore be more likely to fire in that situation than someone who packs with 22lbs. Know your own gear and make your choices based on knowledge and not just on what people (including me). Glad to see your still Squeaking edited to add: Yes I agree with you as well billvon that it would be considered a bad idea to hold the handle through deployment. if no regulation how often would you repack your reserve

6 months. I agree that a year is not a problem for most rigs in most conditions. Problem is that you have some people jumping in really dusty conditions. Some people jump onto the beach regularly (damn I love my job sometimes) others are jumping into dirt fields. you can't have one rule for one and another for the others so by neccessity it nees to be 6 months.
