  1. Making your own booze is very rewarding, you should give it a try. You can also make things that are hard to find in stores, like banana wine, ciders, pear mead, etc. Sometimes you find a great recipe and its really fun to give a bottle to your friends. There are plenty of books on the subject, and it usually isn't too hard to find a brew supply store. Another fun thing to make at home is lemoncello. Mmmmmmmmmmm
  2. They work great on bikes. http://corey.cabler.com/pics/gsxr_on_ice.jpg
  3. I'll recommend anyone to do a tandem, and have probably got 20ish of my friends to go. As far as AFF goes, I'll only answer questions. I have only been lucky enough to know 1 person who jumps regularly, whom I knew before both of us were jumping. (I didn't see him for a couple years and when we met again, we found that both of us were into skydiving.)
  4. After some more research I found this cool website if anybody has an old winchester..... http://www.winchestercollector.org/
  5. This thread got me thinking, I have an old 30-30 Winchester lever action, and looked all over gun broker and could only find one model that looked exactly the same, however it was in a different caliber. The one I have, has the peep sight exactly like this one: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=115876298 Is the value similar? Edit: Its a model 55
  6. Had to go on the sharks website to catch details about tonight, bummer. Looks like boucher has some mad skills though.....
  7. How about buy her a tandem for Christmas and if she wants to do it more figure it out later..... If she actually wants to pack and has nothing to do on your jump day, pay her $5 each pack. Once other people see that you aren't having malfunctions, she might be able to pack for them as well. Don't force her into reading all of this info, if she doesn't really care then she won't bother remembering it. Also, don't force her to go to the dz. She should want to be there, not required just so she can "learn some respect for the sport" before she is allowed to jump for the first time.
  8. It works for me, i dunno? It starts a program sort of thing, so maybe you are not compatible for that

  10. I would be concerned with 2 things, an improvised rocket propelled device, that has a long range and large warhead, and a .50 barret sniper rifle. Kills from ranges of 1.5 miles are possible. Basically, anytime he is outdoors making a speech or something, he is at risk.
  11. I don't think anyone really seeks out treatment in MJ, rather they do it anyways, think that it has benefits, and decide to seek a legal way of enjoying it. Everyone knows that smoking things can't be good for your lungs, but you can also eat it. Anything that you get addicted to, can cause major problems in your life, but the occasional toke to help you go to bed or just relax on a boring day is a spice of life. I quit smoking reefer almost a year ago, before that I was an everyday smoker. My reasons were cost (saving for rig) and I wasn't motivated enough in my life, I figured. Once things settle down and I am in a comfortable position, I will most likely smoke again. In the meantime, I have been drinking a bit more to displace the smoking, and I can't say that that has been beneficial. Whatever things you do in life for fun, you have to find a balance, getting there can sometimes be a rough road. As far as legalizing herb, I think it would be hard to do. I think possession of less than an ounce should be only a fine, possession in your household of the same, not criminal. People should be allowed to have 1 mature plant in their house. This would promote the "do what you want in your own household" sort of thing. I would also promote the use of mouth dip sticks by police to test for MJ use in the last 24 hours if someone is driving a car, it most certainly slows your reaction time. If somebody isn't bothering you, isn't selling your kids drugs, isn't causing any danger to you, than you should stay the hell out of their business. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=BNbExvU42q4
  12. There are allot of variables. If you can get access to a doctor to give you an approval for medical use (this will not be your regular doctor!) than you are in the clear mostly. The paper he gives you, plus your drivers license is proof enough. This will keep you safe from jail time, but not from harassment. I would recommend not smoking in the public's view, and invite yourself to being hassled. Your state may or may not have medical clubs starting, this is one big benefit of having a club card. Feds are prone to busting these facilities however, but usually don't bother arresting people that are there, just the owners (lots of times on tax related charges along with the drug distribution). State authorities are required to abide by state law, so if you have your paperwork in order, the worst that can happen is that a cop refuses to accept it, you get arrested, and as soon as a judge sees it, you are freed. Keep your eyes open for a club (where you buy green) and call them to see where people are getting recommendations. Set up an appointment and enjoy. Remember, doctors will be more prone to giving you a full prescription (1 year usually, although cali used to be 2 years) for problems that are long lasting. IE sleep disorders, (for those looking for alternatives to over the counter drugs which might make you drowsy in the morning) back pains, anxiety etc rather than a sprained ankle which will heal up after some time. One last thing, cali now has a state card, which is linked to a database. This is good for easy access to confirm that you are a card holder, however it is possible that this goes into your "record" and might come up later in life with a detailed search. The paper you get from your doctor and a state ID should be adequate, and is usually preferable. Remember, state officer= state laws. Don't take that shit into an airport. TSA=go to jail.
  13. That is a bummer for him, but don't you think that for her, she left seeing him at his strongest? I mean, if he loses, she would have been bummed, wins, she would be happy. But right now he is fighting, sorta like a warrior killed in combat rather than in old age, is remembered only for being at his strongest.
  14. You should at least tell them you are interested and take up all their time. give them some fake numbers or something
  15. I thought you were saying people's names until I saw creme brulee. haha
  16. The dots make it look like a smiling, buck-toothed, horned devil. Hahaha.
  17. My buddy is elk hunting at this very moment, I hope he fills his tag! That sounds bomb. I am making this right now: http://www.barbecuebible.com/featured/bbqu/bbq_u_macaroni_and_cheese.php
  18. How the hell is that batch going? Its gotta be done by now.
  19. I think the torque gauge reads pressure between the compressor and turbine sections of the engine, more pressure means more torque. Torque is the twisting force being applied to the propeller, so bigger engines will have more, damaged engines will have less. If you start to see that you are loosing torque, you would get worried, because something is wrong. It might only be the gauge itself, but it would still get you worried. Sorta like seeing your gas gauge empty, when you know you should be fine. Its time to pull off the freeway regardless....
  20. Ground effect has to do with how the aircraft flies when it is close to the ground. I believe the positive pressure below the wings is increased, because it has nowhere to go when it hits the ground and thus gives the plane extra lift. This allows the airplane to take off at a lower speed than what would be required to maintain level flight at a higher altitude. I think ground effect is only when you are within 5-10ft of the ground, being different for size and types of airplanes. Rolling start refers to the pilot rolling onto the runway without stopping, and accelerating for takeoff. A normal takeoff would be with the aircraft stopped, the engine's power increased, and then letting go of the brakes. On lots of modern propeller driven airplanes, they have propeller blades which can be rotated, so that the pitch is changed. This is called a "constant speed" prop. Some propellers can change the pitch so far, that the blades are perfectly aligned with the wind stream, to decrease drag. This is good when the engine quits because that side of the plane will already need correcting due to the other engine's thrust. I'm probably wrong about most of this though, I'll let a pilot give exact details.
  21. Newb here.... Can you feel the grommets after opening to see if they are hot enough to do that damage?
  22. Lots of cars these days have devices that prevent a tube from going down the filler neck, I wonder if it would be possible to install something to this affect?
  23. Woot woot. good race. Speed channel didn't have the indianopolis race, what gives?
