First motorcycle question for you riders...
LongWayToFall replied to gitRdone's topic in The Bonfire
Don't forget, buy something used, its going to get dropped. I'm doubtful she will be able to pick up the sporty. I would say buy a lightly used blast and ride it for about a year, then get the sporty 1200 if she wants to be an all american girl. Are you sure the 1400cc harley engines are less than 70hp? The buell xb I ride I thought was around 100hp. -
anyone ever heard of this? motorcycle license related!
LongWayToFall replied to floridadiver81's topic in The Bonfire
In california there are 2 ways to get the license, you can take an approved course (about 3 days) and take the written test at the dmv, or the other way to get it is to do a riding test in the dmv parking lot, then take the written and you are done. So all u gotta do it ride between the cones and you are good, shouldn't take long at all -
Scuba diver pulls out dive knife and stabs skydiver. End of battle.

No, I'm not afraid. After a long enough period of time, you are dead, then everyone that ever met you, and eventually most likely the whole of the human race will be gone. None of us are special or unique, we are all the same, worm food, like 'twardo said. Go make a jump, be alive. You would be unbelievably lucky to know exactly when you would die, so might as well decide that it's going to be today.

Yeah a good combo is a solid tight fitting leather jacket, and textile pants. -

The course I took as well as my friends were little 250cc hondas. Figure out what style of bike she wants in the future, a sport bike or cruiser. Regardless, I would still recommend a sport style low CC bike for her first, because it will be lightweight and maneuverable. I have ridden a couple ninja 250s, very nice bikes. Went with a friend and checked out a bike he was interested in buying the other day, its a suzuki gs-500. The power band is similar to the ninja, very predictable. The gs also is a naked bike, my same friend dropped it the other day and only scratched the bar end. By the way, he got it for only $1000, and I cleaned the carbs for him and it runs really sweet now. Look for a bike that has some minor scratches already, because this will reduce the price allot and you are going to drop it at some point anyways. I would not suggest the sportster at all. I have many miles on a buell XB12s which has the same engine (more power though) better brakes, much better handling, and it is still a bear of a bike. Cruisers just aren't as safe because they lack performance. Sure, they are not usually the people getting killed because they don't want to go fast unlike the sport riders, but it is up to you to keep yourself safe. I doubt she would even be able to pick a sporty up! If she absolutely has to have a cruiser, check out some of the small metric ones like the rebel, and the buell blast. The blast is very light and manageable, but will not be as reliable or long lasting as something japanese. Also, I find the ninja 250/500 and gs-500 to be very comfortable, and the body position to be relaxed. It won't be an issue. Make sure she takes the safety course! -
Yeah the song portion is nothing special, but when they fly over and yell to the guy on the carrier, and it sounds like he is yelling outdoors, and when they are shooting the missle, the audio is done pretty well.
-
You gotta be kiddin me. Yeah when the music is playing it is lame, but the actual commercial part at the start is priceless. You have to hear the audio so that you can hear them talking back and forth.

If you took out hey jude, and put in hey joe, I woulda voted for it!

YOU almost scared the shit outta me! My cop buddy said when he is working I can call him up and he will breathalize me, because the ones they carry don't have a maximum. I think it might be a trick though......
-
Yeah I know its supposta be a condensed version of "whats up" but they get crazy with it, hence the reason it is funny. If you didn't notice, it IS the old commercial. I have to agree with you though, the first part before it becomes a song is the best.

I have a vigil 2 in my wings container, and the fit and function is fine.....

Do I NEED an A license right off the bat?
LongWayToFall replied to Mazz's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Drive to Lodi for a week. 1000 for the AFF course, and 35-40 bucks per jump including gear rental. For 2000 bucks, you can pay for gas getting here and back, as well as bang out you A license and a handful of coach jumps. -
It is harmless. You are talking about a couple lbs versus thousands. Does anyone know how much of it you need to make a detonation? Rocket motors are built to not detonate. I used to be involved with model rockets, and the feds are cracking down like fuck on the hobby. You tell me that the motors need to have a shitload of regulations, and I'll tell you that aads need to be checked by TSA on every flight.
-
Monterrey has had their A200 King air for some time now, and Lodi recently got one as well. Fast as hell! Lodi is using a Beech 99 as well, gotta love a big door, and almost as fast.
-
It can't be that much recoil, can it? A butt pad will be the biggest help. Make sure you are using proper rounds. Does it accept chokes? If so, you can buy adjustable chokes that have a built in muzzle break, this will be good for some recoil reduction. But seriously, man up!

Skydiving with friends, scared as hell
LongWayToFall replied to juniorlawrence's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
+1. I was scared shitless. Riding in small planes bunches of times as a small kid and looking down out the window makes it harder in life to get used to the idea of getting out of the vehicle. I say do it man, I would tell my parents, brother, friends whoever to at least try a tandem. -
Man caves should not have beds, because passing out is not to be expected. Couches however, are acceptable.

BOOOOM. Lots of energy being unleashed right there.

If you liked the OP video, here is one from awhile back that is similar, and I'm pretty sure it is their most popular song. One: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zePch4zHLMs Also an interesting video, they played at San Quentin prison. St. Anger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbgj9dQgFOM&feature=related

Some people are just not cut out for hallucinogens. You know who you are. Sucks for that dude though, but he did relapse. Wonder what his original addiction was? Bet it wasn't what he took this time.
