Morning you bunch of raunchy socially-disconnected misfits. Today marks the one year anniversary of my heart surgery. It's been a tuff year, but I've test driven the hell out of this new thing and she's a huckleberry. Thank you for all the support during a difficult time. See/talk to you soon. If you MUST teach creation myths in science class...

It's kind of hard to understand current events in the world, and world history for that matter, without knowing anything about one of the primary factors that motivates people (and societies) to do what they do. Some "just-the-facts" about such influences, without any judgmental crap about "how could they be so stupid" is essential if students are to get get beyond memorizing events and dates and start to see why things happened as they did. Can you imagine teaching Greek history without any discussion of the Greek gods? "They built the Acropolis where they did because, well, ummm... they liked the view from the top of the hill. They could see their house from up there. Yeah, that's the reason." Don Teaching current events and that wars are fought for two reasons - geography and religion and mentioning the different religions is not teaching religion. It's like teaching about the crusades and not mentioning Catholicism, You can't teach about the outside of a cup without teaching about what the cup is made of... but, that doesn't mean you have to teach them about what goes in the cup. Seasoned Traveler here... ~125-150K miles/annum. That's actual miles in the air... not points. I use Southwest first and Continental second. After that, I liked Frontier (until they closed their Tulsa hub) and Alaska Air equally. The rest can kiss my butt. ESPECIALLY USAir. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine-archive/2011/june/money/airlines/overview/index.htm Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Yes, but what people are being told by lay people does not place him far off the mark. Admittedly, since this was first posted, I had to do a lot of self-educating - which is why I hadn't jumped in sooner. Course, it's kind of a moot point at this time, but we can never discount Washington's posturing for excess in the first draft. I've been on all three sides of the copyright issue (third one being the... for educational purposes clause). Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
What separates us from the beasts is not onl opposing thumbs, but the ability to achieve goals and to choose and to reason. The mouse has no choice. If you're gonna kill it; you gotta eat it. It's a rule. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

That's the problem. Religions, and religious parents, only teach one religion and then advocate discounting anything that doesn't agree with it. OK. And what business is that of the education system? Separation of church and state. If we're not going to teach religion in school and leave it to the parents - the education system has no say in what the kids are taught. Or do you advocate adding that to the already exhausted social curriculum of drugs and sex ed and driving ed and... you get the idea. No argument... I refer you back to the Islam, Christianity, Judaism thread. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
The one with the buttstock is NFA. Double-check me on this, but I believe the one without the buttstock is NFA. NFA allows for a 26" overall length with the buttstock in the extended position. Unfortunately, I've learned a lot more about weapons than I ever learned about weapon legislation. A stocked, rifled firearm with a barrel less than 16", or a shotgun with a barrel less than 18", is NFA. If you have a Contender or Encore, you can put a buttstock on when using a barrel 16" or longer. You are strongly advised to remove the stock before putting a 14" barrel on. Even with a pistol grip, a shotgun still needs 18" of barrel. This does not apply to blackpowder firearms, antiques or relics. Firearms laws are very location-dependent. When I lived in France I was impressed by the requirement that one must use a silencer if making too much noise violates noise ordinances. Blue skies, Winsor OK. I "think" we're along the same lines here and agree with you on the barrel length. In reference to his two pictures, 1) was with a collapsible buttstock that when extended made it compplaint with the 26" overall length, and 2) the weapon without the buttstock had a fixed buffer tube for the spring, thereby not allowing it to expand to the required 26" length. We saying the same thing? If not, it's really not that important to me... for me, the whole thing is a silly waste of time since there are more calibers of civilian weapons than that of "military assault weapons." I owned an UZI back in the 80's... The biggest dumbest -imho- ever design... an 11 pound 9mm pistol. If you're going to use a 9mm round, get a pistol. Hell, get two and carry lots of magazines. And, if the argument is - but, it's what the Israeli's use to clear buildings - give me a G3A4 with an HK79 and day and stand way back. Further. Bill, You know my position on religion; however, I believe there should be a separation between church and State. I am even opposed to teaching "Religions of the World" up to the 12th grade. Religion should be the parent's job until graduating from high school. Having "Religion's of the World" can be what it was when I took it in college... an elective in Humanities by someone who has reached the age of majority. EDIT: Little sidenote... I took a correspondence class from the University of Washington while in the military (Before everyone had online classes & before the Internet) called, "The Bible as Literature." Really good class where there was one rule. Any papers could not be of theological discussion, but only from a literature perspective. EDIT: EDIT: AH HAH!!! They still have it... http://www.onlinelearning.washington.edu/ol/intros/engl310/ Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -

I would argue your point about using a credit card online as being more risky than having a facebook account. Having said that, my ex uses FB for her business also (she's like a guru in sales & marketing) and I did her website which included the pass through icons for FB, Twitter, & her Company Blog. We had a long hard discussion about fb and twitter and in the end, I cannot argue with her success in the realm of target marketing, but she also acknowledges the risks and feels that "for now" the benefits outweigh the risk. And, this "timeline" has her re-thinking her position on the matter. I'll tell you what I will find interesting is how well Mark Z. does with an IPO and a BoD. That's going to be a new experience for Mr. Bossy Pants. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Therin lies the problem. Every time FB make a change, they modify the privacy policy and you have to go back through and opt-out... however, with this new "timeline." I don't believe there's an opt-out. http://www.facebook.com/full_data_use_policy Google's privacy policy on the other hand is one of "opt-in." In addition, in the event of a merger or acquisition, Google's privacy policy is transferable, not assignable. http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/preview/ Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

I assume you've checked out the effect of the HARP 2.0 re-fi loans on condos? Might get your payments down low enough to rent. EDIT: There was a time when people argued about who got the house during a divorce. Now, they argue about who takes the house. At least that wasn't illegal. ...oh wait! they started a fire inside a public building. I'm sure that broke some law. Maybe not (California, you know!) I'm assuming the farther left the society, the more laws there are. True. Read anything by Geert Hofstede. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
