You just figured out now that you are addicted to skydiving, Adam??? Late bloomer...
-
I'm with you, cloud9 - but who cares?!? To each her/his own. I wear an ear ring...
-
Could yal explain different types of malfunctions?
Iflyme replied to Viking's topic in Safety and Training
Viking, the Bossman has provided us with a worthy section on safety. I suggest you go there to study! http://www.dropzone.com/safety/ Then come back and fire away any questions you still have! Frank -
There's not... we are members of the CSPA, Canadian Sport Parachute Association. But CSA is the Canadian Safety Association!

skymama, if you go for a tattoo, make sure the place that does it takes your health seriously. A visit to a tattoo parlour is the LEADING cause of Hepatits C infection in the USA.

I know what ya mean, skymama... we've just finished soccer season, and baseball practice's start this week. And that's on top of piano, Sparks and Brownies... two kids on the go means parents on the go, too! Thank goodness I can jump after work sometimes - weekends are just so darn busy! Carrie, sounds like you had a good weekend, too! Busy lady! I jumped from a C-205 this weekend. Bigger plane that the C-182, but more crowded!!! I'm getting close to my B-licence now... just a few coached jumps to go... yeehawww

I already put up a nudie-pie pix of me on this forum (with my rig on, of course), and as I'm kinda far from the rest of you, that's gonna just have to do for now. Sorry Freeflyplaything - really I'd love to do one of those jumps with you and your bunch, but I'll just hafta post some pix from when I do it here this summer... (probably for #100) Frank
-
Nice one, Brad! That's a jump to remember!
-
Great story, Froggie! I can't wait for the full-length movie to come out!!! I had a good jump on Sunday, too. Got my style set timed in 15.1 secs... so now I'm gonna start my coached jumps next! No sit-flyin' for a while now! Frank

Why? Are YOU a Baldwin??? We need to know up here - and soon!!! Already fellow Canucks, "Operation Snowbird" goes at O-11 hundred hours this Saturday... and try to leave the Baldwins alone!
-
Hi JKA... hope you are well rested!

Well said Deborah. Although I never met Jan, I knew her reputation. But I kinda feel I do know her a bit now from yours, and other posts about her. We should have a moment of rememberance for all the DZcom people sometime (kinda like Albatross suggested). Maybe at a particular time, on a particular day, we could all take a moment wherever we are, and remember... Frank

Are ya gonna paratrooper into my DZ with the machine guns blazing???
-
We will just have stop our comedians from going south to entertain you!

Ya, those freakin' Californians ... one of the utilities there owes my province $200 million for energy we've sent them, and now they're claiming bankruptcy... and Dubya thinks Canada is a place for his rich friends to exploit for more energy! HA! The evil empire is running out of resources... better be nice to your neighbours!

Who's got time to sit on their ass for hours watching movies??? There's too much in the real world to do! BUT - if I had to choose, I'd say that guy that plays Kramer on Seinfeld. He'd be funny!

Josh, I'm a college grad, career in broadcasting, own a 3000'sq ft house, married almost 17 years with 2 kids. AND I skydive. I'm also a licenced scuba diver. And I wasn't too bad on the skiis last time I went up the hill. And I weightlift, and I love astronomy. Dude - you can have it all!!! There are rewards that come with every aspect of my life (except cleaning this big fricken house)... Don't hold back: if you want something, work hard to achieve it. Skydiving is just one aspect of our lives (well, just one BIG aspect). If you have a dream, fight to make it come true. It's all out there, just waiting for us to come and get it. And you are right about the whuffos - don't let THEM hold YOU back. You gotta march to your own beat. You don't want to be 75 years old thinking "man, I wish I did that when I was a whipper-snapper". It sounds like you are on the right track now... GO FOR IT!!! Frank

Gee, Mike - how American of you! I think you've been spending to much time in front of the telly, watching reruns of Dallas...
-
Hey, Tefkros - I think you shoulda just killed them all right there on the spot. That'd teach them to bad mouth us sport skydivers. Frank
-
Hey, Albatross - remember - this forum has no international borders... let's make it "world-wide" and include the skydivers living outside your country. I like the idea, although I have never know anyone who went in... but it would be appropriate to remember ALL skydivers who have gone before us.

Speedy, where I live, we have a bunch of "U-Brews". Little shops that are really micro-breweries. They have dozens of recipies and a variety of styles. My favorite is a place called "Bedford Brewing". Its a full mash brewery. The process takes 1 and 1/2 hours, and you bottle your beer 2 weeks later. I'm into the pale ales, myself. It's all MUCH better than ANY beer you can buy. That stuff passed off to the unsuspecting public by the big breweries shouldn't even be called beer - it should be called "malt liquor" (haven't I made this speech before???) ... and whoever said they put dextrose in their beer, why I otta slap you! Wingy - I've heard/read that a minimum of 400 jumps is recommended before one trys moving on up to skysurfing. Now of course I'm gonna get flamed for saying this, but IMHO you are still a novice or just beyond at 200 jumps. As you know, the emergency procedures are a little more complicated, and there was a fatality recently where a 23 year old guy with 400 jumps, and no formal instruction (according to the fatalities page) had a bad deployment on his first skysurf, and never recovered. So obviously you want GOOD training before you try to skysurf. I wonder how many other skydivers with 200 jumps feel competent enough to skysurf...??? BTW, to the best of my knowledge, at my DZ the tandem masters don't invite other jumpers to fly with them, other than the video dude. I guess it is a "per dropzone" type of issue. Frank
-
Well, Tracy, at least now you know what type of crowd your getting mixed up with here! So how do you manage to skysurf with under 200 jumps? No offence, but I kinda thought that was something reserved for the high timers... Tell me more! Frank
-
Freaksis, step foward and accept your punishment, for it was YOU who suggested Tracy was of the female persuasion... so YOU get 50 lashes with a wet noodle!

I fly solo, sometimes in a sit... I don't have a cypres. I'd like to have one, but after spending 2 grand on gear, and another $1800 on J/Ts, I can't afford one. I don't agree with DZ's making them mandatory. I do agree with helmet legislation - for motorcycles AND bicycles. And you would never catch me on a motor bike. Too much at risk from other drivers, and no protection in the event of an accident. And I know this debate will NEVER end, but I do like hearing the differing perspectives. Frank
