Perhaps he meant "I can stand my girlfriend on her head"... perhaps not?!?
  6. Just a few loads ago, I was sitting there in the plane on the way up, and one of the senior jumpers looked at me and said "what are you smiling about"... Just like you've all said so eloquently - I JUST LOVE THIS SPORT!!!!!

Forgive me, but why on earth (or "above" earth) would you put so many jumps on a canopy that only opened nicely for you once?????

    sangiro...

Ya, I did a bungee jump at the local place a few years back. But I would never even consider doing it again. For one thing, I'd much rather spend the $$$ on a REAL jump
  9. Landing in a plane - what a foreign concept!!! Sounds scary to me, Sue!
  10. Skreamer, that sucks! For sure the Pro-Trak is replaceablem but it is still a whopping few hundred$$$ (can't remember what symbol you folks use for pounds over there)... The mouth on my BOC is a bit loose, too. Not as much as the one you jumped, but I think I need to get it tighted up soon. So what will be your wing loading on your 150? The smalledst canopy I've ever jumped was a 190 Hornet. It was loaded at 1.1 to 1 - not too heavily loaded, for sure!!! But it was still a fun ride.
  11. Ya, Wingy - woohoo! Good story - glad you're ok! Frank
  12. I've got around 50 jumps on my 210 Silhouette loaded about 1:1 It is a fairly conservative canopy at this wing-loading. Never had a harsh opening (the canopy has around 450 jumps on it), I can snap a toggle turn an go right into line twists - no, I won't be doing that one again - and the flare is great -- it lands wonderfully. I would say they are being rather conservative with the recommendations... but they must protect themselves legally. (I am a novice with 83 jumps) I like!!! Frank
  13. GiZZeRR, I talked about skydiving with a buddy for 10 years before I finally got out and did it... what a waste of 10 years! As far as accidents go, they happen everywhere in our everyday lives - you don't have to go skydiving to get hurt or killed! Skydiving is a sport that, if approached with the proper attitude, will bring you years of pure pleasure! Sure, you are scared - I think we all were on our first jumps. But fear is good - it helps you act fast in the event of an emergency. Just pay attention when you are being trained, and smile when you climb out of that plane the first time - you'll never look back! Go for it!!! Frank

What's keeping you from jumping, Gia? Do you wanna share?
  15. Now THAT'S a "bad-ass" post!!! Thanks for the laugh, cyber. I shared it around work (we have some pretty tough days here, but nothing like that!!!)

And the USA accuses other countries of human rights violations... you don't have the right to take a life - no one does.

I meant that in a flattering way, btw. If you remember, we had a big "geek" thread a while back. It was decided that most of us here are geeks, and that is supposed to be good. Unfortunately, I'm NOT a computer whiz...

Well this brings up the age old question: Do we want lots of newbies or not? On one hand, the more people we can get to come out and start jumping, the bigger the DZ can get, and we can get a bigger plane, and jumps might get cheaper -- but on the other hand, UNTIL we get a bigger plane, it would more jumpers waiting around, etc... personally, I'm for getting more people out to jump!!! My city has a population of around 300,000 ... and there are probably 30 or so of us who are "regulars"... I think there about 100 of us who are licenced (but I could be WAYYYYY off on that #) ... either way, I guess skydiving isn't for everyone!!!
  21. I'll try that one real soon! Thanks, Jake... Pammi, I have a video of an exit I did that was kinda cool - 5 backloops off the step of the C-182. Nothing quite like spinning round and round and round and round and round...
