Maybe you need to add a "d)" for me -- all of the above... My friend, to follow some of your logic: If there is a "minute" chance you will get shot in the workplace (many more people get shot in the workplace in the USA than do skydivers die as a result of no cypres), will you run out and buy a bullet proof vest to wear to work????? Your logic is yours - you may keep it. The ratio of skydivers saved by cypress vs the number of skydives made yearly is huge... and does support your claim that those without cypres are "plain dumb". But one who will not tolerate difference of opinion just might be!

I can testify, having seen Tee 3 days in a row after jumping, that this is not the case! You skydiving gals NEVER look nasty!!! Hey, Tee - thanks for picking up that beer for me! I still owe you some change!
-
What's in your pipe tonight, 'Sis? Yeehawwww!!!
-
The Beatles - a whole wack of their cds on shuffle!
-
Bwhaapppp - excuse me!

Hey, phastasphuck, nice to meet you here in cyberspapce. I'm on an island on the west coast of Canada (a BIG island)... no typhoons here, but it sure gets blowin' sometimes! Hope ya get home soon to jump again!
-
Well I'd be afraid that some drunk rugby player might confuse me with a roo and try to get stink finger... Skyhawk, you badboys don't really go for that in Oz, do ya???
-
I'm 6'6", and the majority of my jumps have been from a c-182 -- always a tight squeeze (I prefer the Old Man's spot). Just remember this - the plane is only an elevator. It's getting back down that counts!
-
Jessica, I like the observer ride idea! His reaction will definitely be the clue as to what your future with him might be like.

fallonflyer, this great sport attracts great people! Your ambitions sound terribly familiar - skydive as much as you possibly can. I think the rest of us know EXACTLY how you feel. Welcome!

There was room for more on my load! They were looking for 50 on the next load (don't think they got that many). People on the right side of the plane would exit thru that door, and the people on the left side thru that door. One issue was hypoxia... the first load had made a first pass but the spot was off (remember, this was the first time these people had sport skydivers in their aircraft), so they did a go around, but had to stand down because Airforce 2 (your Vice-President's plane) was in the airspace... so they apparently ended up going to 24,000 feet while Airforce 2 cleared the airspace. The plane was pressurized on the way up, but the doors had been opened for the first jumprun... anyway, it wasn't until an hour after take-off that the jumpers got to exit. Fortunately there were no problems, other than a bunch of out landings... on our load, we did just one pass, and the high altitude sickness was just starting to become slightly noticeable for some of us... my only regret is that I didn't jump the HUEY with favaks after jumping the Fokker!

Right on, Krishan! That rocks!!! I've just started to get into freeflying, and had a real good sitfly last weekend! Yeehaw!!!
-
Jason, we'll get it together the next time you are up in this neck of the woods... you're gonna like jumping an otter - I made 3 jumps from Kapowsin's twin-otter this past weekend. It was great, as we jump c-182 at our DZ. The ride up is sooo much quicker, and we got lots more altitude (20 seconds more freefall was definitely a bonus!).

Agreed! I've been feeling like I'm still in a plane or in the air since last night! The whole boogie went past too quickly for me - but I'm already looking foward to next year! Tee and 174fps and favaks, I'm sorry we couldn't get it together for that photo op Monday afternoon ... I ended up going for one last jump out of the King Air... but I think favaks had the best way to finish off the weekend -- by jumping in to his home DZ -- Awesome!
-
Like some others here, I had no visual record of what I had done during my first few exits - I was and IAD student, too. I found that really concentrating on looking up at the plane did two things - helped me be stable, and helped me remember what I was seeing... it will start to come together for you after a few jumps!
-
Way to go, Billy! That sounds like a real hoot -- except for the ticket thing...
-
Yes, it does seem impossible... I wanna see the video!!!
-
Ya, me too, Wingy - I've jumping for more than 3 years, and still haven't hit 100 jumps yet! (Didn't do more than a handful of jumps that first year, but things are picking up - I've done 10 since Friday!)
-
Bwahahahah hahaa! I'll try to remember that one the next time I head south!

This past weekend, at the 34th annual "Kamloops May Meet" here in BC, I was on a load with Tee and 174fps on a F27, the "Fokker". This is a cargo plane that one of our skydiving pilots managed to wrangle for a day of jumping... We were on the 2nd load of the day - 44 of us in this damn thing! Exit was about 17'000 AGL. Talk about prop blast! An 8-way ahead of my group took a heck of a long time to climb out, so by the time we got out, the spot was way long ... landed out (tons of good outs available) along with a bunch of others. 1:20 of freefall was pretty cool! So for this weekend, at what might have been the the biggest boogie in BC ever (MIGHT have been), I owe beer for my first twin-otter jump, first king air jump, first Fokker jump, first out landing, and my first competition jump! (got a bronze in junior style!) ... Oh yeah, we flew up, and jumped in - and favaks followed me out the door! But now - must sleep ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
-
Sis, I think the little froggie said sometime ago she is 5-1 or 5-2 ... small potatoes! Froggie - the gear sounds great! I hope the deal goes ahead for you. Let us know! Frank

This is awful -- my thoughts go out to all those involved, and the family and friends of the deceased...
-
Good work, Karen! Glad to hear you didn't hesitate! On what number jump was it? And was that your first cutaway?
-
Yes, WingCommander - it's for all of us!!! (But if there's profit to be made - I want it!!!)
