Ok, I found it....I, too, was looking under the reserve flap. My owners manual didn't even help. Seems basic enough that it ought to be in there!!! Thank you!
-
Ok, maybe I am just being stupid, but... I got home with my brand spankin' new rig and went to inspect the card that show the reserve pack date. One of two things is true. 1. I don't know where to find said card on my Mirage 2. There isn't one. Am I supposed to fill out the card? Is my rigger?? I am feeling really stupid!!

Joe!!! Congrats! Sounds like an awesome jump, that second one...I can't believe I missed you! I was there until about five!
-
Zennie- I agree with you. I would most like to see freeflying or formation skydiving because I know the skill involved in pulling that stuff off. The uneducated public would get more thirlls out of swooping because they can see it and readily tell how well someone did. Whuffos would not be able to tell, even with live tv feed, whether or not everyone on the team was "in" on a particular point.

This guy has a title within USPA.....it is hard to tell him to stuff himself or anything else for that matter!! There was some interest around the DZ because my main is one size too big for my container. Everyone was interested in seeing how much effort it was going to take to pack it. I think this guy just really wanted to see how it would all work. I am really glad I left it and the situation for a bit. I came back clear-headed and was left alone to pack.

MM- You are right, his friend left the C-182 first, landed a bit out, but in a bean field next to the landing area. That guy has been back every weekend since. The prison-lander has not returned.......

Earlier this seaon we had an interesting out landing... A student caught some thermals. updrafts/really crazy winds. The dzo/radio instructor told him to spiral down and he actually gained altitude while spinning. He ended up touching down inside the fence of a prison. He was immediatley surrouded by guards who questioned him for like three hours. They were convinced that he was trying to aid an inmate in escaping!!

THE BAD: My reserve came in this week and my rigger packed it for me. He even went so far as to hook up my main for me. So, my brand new baby was ready to go as soon as I packed her up. As I was getting started, a very experienced skydiver started watching me pack. We were all on a cloud hold, I was the only thing gooing on! So....one of the first things I did was check to see that my lines were all clear. I always check the brake lines, but I checked them all because it had just been hooked up. THIS VERY EXPERIENCE SKYDIVER CHASTIZED ME FOR CHECKING MY LINES. I think that we should all encourage each other to be overly cautious, and super safety concerned. I could not believe he was giving me grief for checking out my lines!!! I was so pissed I left the hangar for almost an hour. THE GOOD: Did a simple two-way with this guy Murel, who has gotten really good really fast. I was really focused on keeping my energy towards the center of the skydive and not reaching for grips. The dive went great. SWEET! THE BEER: Yes, I finally made my first jump on my own gear. I hope your weekend was great! Anne

Did you say "first"??? Then the answer is yes.....BEER

I have my b, thinking about my c and have only landed on my feet 20 out of 73 times, and there is no consistency!! I think the ground just scares me!!!
-
Hey don "king" how many jumps do you have? I have 73 and still don't land on my feet. Maybe I should go by PLF Queen!!!
-
Zennie...He is playing you....just because he hasn't seen a video of her doing a naked tandem doesn't mean he isn't the one getting to play with them!!!! Come on, Spectre, 'fes up!!!
-
I know you are online, Spectre!!! Deny or confirm, please!!!!! I know you love to post, so dive on in!!!

Ok, It is finally gonna happen. If the weather breaks for long enough tomorrow I will get to jump my brand new container, with my brand new reserve, with my brand new cypres, and my used main..... They have been teasing me for three weeks...Each week I think that I will get to jump my own stuff....THIS WEEKEND IT WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN!!!!!!!! (I know....BEER!!!) It is supposed to storm on and off tomorrow. I just need twenty minutes of blue and I am up and flying!! Blue skies to you (and ME!) Anne

My vote is spectre... I think he is enjoying posting ont his thread as if he is guessing....Laughing his ass off at us!!!

I think that freefall gets easier when you are not counting anymore. You do have to learn to read your altimeter w/o turning, which was a challenge for me!!! I was much more relaxed in freefall, though, because that was all I had to focus on. Sounds like you are doing great and have the right attitude!! Have fun with your 15 secs!! Blue skies, Anne

There is one canopy at my DZ that is ok up close- pink and light blue ribs and a print that is the same colors on top and bottom. From the ground it just looks dull brown, almost pukey. My baby wouldn't qualify...she's a beauty! Blue skies, anne

Is this an instance for congratulations or for condolences for not having anything else to do but post?? (j/k!) Congrats and blue skies, Anne

People seem to say in general that the PDs open okay, and I should not be getiing slammed so much. Is it possible that it is the container that it is in?? It is packed into a Narro (??) I think that is what it is called. Could that be affecting the opening?? Or is it just a really tired old canopy? Any thoughts?

I know that Archway Skydiving Center in Vandalia, IL is offering water training a couple of times coming up. They do it on Sunday mornings at the hotel pool. I think that one of the dates in Sept 8. I am not sure of the other. Call them at 1-800-283-JUMP! Blue skies, Anne

When I was a newbie s/l student, they would put a chest-mount altimeter and the radio on my cheststrap. I got a busted lip on every opening!!! Blood under canopy, not cool. Worse than that was the fact that the chest strap ended up right at chin level, so it was hard to look around. Now, I ask you, is that safe??? Blue skies, Anne (any wonder why I custom ordered a container??)
-
We take off with the door shut (most of the time) and we have to either have our helmets on and secured, or secured to our chest straps. I guess this would eliminate the flying debris that could cause injury.

And, yes, the packing class will acquaint you with the different parts of the canopy. Take the class, inspect the canopy as you pack and as you fly, and ASK ALL QUESTIONS YOU HAVE. I have found myself asking quesitons that I know I have already asked six months ago, but now I am more knowlegdeable and ready to learn some more detail that I was the first time asked the question. Blue skies, Anne

After reading these forums for a few months it has come to my attention that my DZ seems to have different "rules"than some others. I am interested in hearing about some of your rules and traditions. Here are some of ours: 1. If you have more than one first on the same jump, you only owe one case. However, you can have many dives with firsts on one day and therefore owe many cases of beer, 2. We pie for jump # 1000 only. 3. Jumps ending in "00" mean you owe beer. 4. Jump number 1000 you owe a keg of beer and then don't owe for anything after that. There are two exceptions to rule #4: you still owe a bottle to your rigger for a reserve save if you land on the tarmac it is beer, regardless of the number of jumps you have. Is this similar to your DZ?? Blue skies! Anne
