  1. I liked the music on my tandem video- for the freefall it was Creed's Higher for the canopy ride it was Creed's With Arms Wide Open
  2. Just wanted to join the club. I hit 50 last week.... am up to 58 now. I seem to be on a roll. I am also just about to my 1st anniversary of my 1st jump, so Sis it looks we are on a similar slow pace!! Once my rig comes in, though, I will probably jump more. Right now it is just too expensive!! Blue skies, Anne
  3. I kinda like the mystique (sp?) of not having a title. I should stop posting so I remain mysterious.......
  4. So far for the week I am 0:3:0 I am excited that I got through a whole day of jumping without owing beer. That happens so seldomly! I am looking forward to a few jumps this weekend. It will be hot but clear skies! There is a POPs accuarcy competition at my DZ this weekend. That should be fun to watch! I wish everyone blue skies and safe jumps this weekend!! Anne
  5. I saw a guy jump with a plywood board that had handles screwed into the back. The board was about two feet by three feet. He made several jumps successfully, although he was unable to hold onto the board during deployment. Then he did another jump and got unstable. The board started spinning faster than he was and broke two or three of his fingers that were still through the handle. I would think twice about jumping anything with finger holes or handles ! Just thought I would share!!! Blue skies, Anne
  6. Julie, After making a mistake, it sounds like you fixed things perfectly and kept your wits about you. That is the most important thing!!! You can bet that you won't make that mistake again!! It sounds like you did the right thing by getting back up there and doing a ton of practice touchs. We all know what it is to make mistakes- I had a tough time learning to read my altimeter without turning like crazy. I still don't always land on me feet. That is part of what keeps me coming back. I love it and there is always something for me to improve on! Just keep at it!! Blue skies, Anne
  7. Yep! He was in the peas! It was beautiful. Never mind the fact that I had just finished bitching about how I need one more accuracy landing for my B liscence. Little show-off with 10 (?) jumps had to make me look bad!!!! Marc, were you there when Ed tumbled?? After dishing me shit all day he got a little cocky trying to show me how to land in the peas. He's okay, but I am gonna be giving him grief for a while!!! Blus skies, Anne
  8. Then the stats we would need for comparison would be the number of automobile fatalities v. total number of liscensed drivers. Anyone wanna find those numbers? Anne
  9. Hey Speed, I just took the B test and that "all of the above" being the correct answer advice was wrong!!! I don't remember whether it is true for the A though. Blue skies, Anne
  10. I sure didn't get the SIM while I was taking the test. I don't recall there being any medical type questions on the test. You are on the right track with what you think you should be studying. You ought to know how many seconds it takes to fall one thousand feet. You should also know the cloud clearance requirement. They seem to be on every test in one form or another!! And just remember, if you fail, you can take it again the following week! Good luck, Anne
  11. 0:7:1 I am looking forward to a weekend when I don't have to buy a case of beer. I think this is five in a row!!!! Anne
  12. If ya wanna meet us experienced folk, come hang by Jason's truck between your jumps. That's where I usually am because I like to watch the landings. We won't bite, I promise! Are you heading out on the Fourth of July? Sounds like they'll be flying the King Air that day. Go get your four in next weekend and jump the big plane on the holiday!! See ya next weekend! Anne
  13. Marc, I think I was in a plane with you today (or yesterday they are blending together for me) Did you do a 10 sec with Louie? Small world!!! Anne
  14. Okay, maybe I shouldn't brag... This is one of the few perfect weekends we will have all year. This spring was very windy. This past winter no one jumped because the snow started to melt, then refroze as a sheet of ice.... But tomorrow looks good and that is all that counts today!!! Anne
  15. The forecast this weekend here (St. Louis) is for 80 degrees, slight breeze, clear skies......... No complaints here!!! (Just got back from 2 bonus Friday jumps!!!) Blue skies (like mine) to all, Anne
  16. What is the difference between F111 fabric canopies and Zero-P? I know the difference in how they feel, but I want to know the differences in how they fly. Are there advantages/disadvantages to either?? Thanks, Anne
  17. Ya know, I think I could afford this sport if not for all the beer I keep owing!!!!
  18. Three weekends ago: 0:2:1 Two weekends ago: 0:4:1 Last weekend: 0:2:1 Notice any patterns? (some good, some not so good!) Anne
  19. I truly don't mean to brag, but my whuffo friend just do not appreciate the amazing jump I had this past weekend!!! My DZO was determined to get me my Falcon on Saturday. I only have 45 jumps and have done very little 4-way, but I wanted it SOOOOO badly! On the first attempt there were five of us, but we only turned two points, we had some fall rate issues. I felt like I did OK, but was disappointed. Late in the day, my DZO decided we should try again. We organized a four way with him, me, my jumpmaster from student days and another really great jumper. I was rear float and we had an awesome no touch exit. (yes, they were making me work for that Falcon!!!) We came together quickly and turned TEN points!!!! I only goofed once, and not too majorly!!! That's a DOUBLE FALCON. (Do you see why my whuffo friends just aren't gettin' me right now????) Thanks for sharing my excitement! Anne
  20. and now you understand.... Welcome!!! FallinWoman
  21. I am one of those less than newbies and I am sad. Thanks! FallinWoman
  22. How come I have posted several (okay, only like three) posts and am not even called a newbie yet??? I wanna label!!! Blue Skies, FallinWoman
  23. I went through the SL progression and know that it is the only way I would have made it through. I liked that there was only one new thing an any jump. The first ones are all about canopy control, then you get into freefall maneuvers. I would not have been able to handle both those things new on the same jump. Then again, I am a high strung, cautious skydiver. (I know, a contradiction in terms, but true!) I agree with the advice of the others, save up until you can make a string of jumps in a short time, in whatever progression you choose! Blus skies, FallinWoman
  24. Hey Sis, If it makes you feel any better, I drove to the dropzone yesterday and sat around watching the winds gust to 40mph. Had to come home for a family dinner- I didn't even get to drink beer!!! What a waste! Hopefully next weekend will be better! Blue Skies, FallinWoman
  25. I just made my first jump from a super otter! Way cool. I love the size of the door, way better than the King Air!!! Blue skies, FallinWoman
