  1. I have found the perfect solution to the question of whether or not to read those posts. Sometimes I am not in the mood, so as soon as I see that it is a long story, I skip it. Then later, when I have time and am in the right frame of mind, I truly enjoy living vicariously through these wonderful writers. (I even enjoy stories by people less gifted than Michele!) Keep them coming. I love knowing that others have fears and doubts like I do. I am always impressed with the skill you guys show in putting into words the beauty of our sport. Blue skies, Anne
  2. Fun pics!! I especially liked the three way and your head-down exit. Very cool!! Blue skies, Anne
  3. ok, I am answering my own question. I am logged in, but I still posted the last one anonymously. Others of you seem to be having the same trouble. Blue skies, Anne
  4. 0:2:0 I am thinking that I need to add another number to mine: 0:2:0:0 THe last one being the number of jumps I landed on my feet. I am still struggling with that part. I flare at the right time, but can't seem to stay on my feet!!!! ARRRRGGGHHH!!!! Blue skies, Anne
  5. Mirage, Dash M 181, Sabre 190, cypres. (Oh, okay, I don't jump it yet, but it should all be in within the next two weeks!!!!) Blue Skies, Anne
  6. I am frustrated with a guy I work with. I said something once about how I fall faster than a lot of people. He insisted that gravity is constant, therefore we all fall at the same rate. I tried to explain....air resistance...terminal velocity...I even did a demo with two pieces of paper, crumpling one and not the other....(they didn't fall at the same rate, obviously) and he STILL insists that we all fall the same. I have actually had this conversation with the same guy twice. I give up. Whatever...come jump with me and you'll see..... That is my idiot whuffo story. Blus skies to you informed people, Anne
  7. SO wrong So Funny stomach hurts....must stop laughing!!!! Keep 'em coming! Anne
  8. (Sorry to copy your title, Zennie!!) I did an awesome jump today. It was a five-way with four really experienced jumpers (to my own 70 jumps). They told me their priorities for RW: 1. Have a safe jump 2. Have fun 3. Maybe come together for a point 4. Maybe come together for a second point.... etc. Their attitude totally relaxed me. I goofed the exit a tiny bit, I turned when I should not have. I was laying base, K. docked on me and then R. came into me so fast that I was pulled low and K. popped off me. I love that other people are not perfect!!! Sometimes it is hard to remember that!! We turned three points, smiling the whole time. It wasn't necessarily pretty but DAMN was it fun!!! I cannot wait to jump with this group of people again!! Just wanted to share my joy, Anne
  9. Dude, that sucks. I jumped with a cold last October and blew out both my ear drums and had two straight days of vertigo. (Vertigo is fun for the first three minutes, then it just sucks.) Only thing that helped was time..... Hope you aren't as bad off as I was! Blue skies soon, Anne
  10. I don't know much...I'm still a low-timer, but Cobalts are all the rage at my DZ. I think four or five experienced jumpers have recently purchased them. Two of those are going from Stillettos to Cobalts, one from a Diablo, one from a Sabre, and I am not sure about the other one (if she even is going with the Cobalt. Bottom line: Demo it...people seem to be impressed with it enough to buy it!!! Have fun and be safe! Anne
  11. Go Girl! Do things as you see fit. Repeat if it will make you more comfortable... it is your education, after all.. your poetry inspires me... please write and tell of your lvl2 and beyond... blue skies and no door demons, Anne
  12. I have another question: Is there a difference of opening shock with mini-risers vs. regular risers?? Thanks, Anne
  13. It IS the responsibility of the high man to get out of the way, but I don't ever TRUST that everyone is as aware as I am. I always check and clear. If there is someone above me, I track perpendicular to the wind line. If there was a large formation above me, I would track like mad and check and probably end up pulling a bit lower than my usual 2600-2800ft. Just my .02!! Anne
  14. I thought that a double falcon was 8 points on a 4-way
  15. I agree with two opinions in this thread. I think if you want to know how it will open and that it will open... pack for yourself. There are several newbie jumpers at my dz who refuse to pack for themselves and that scares me!!! I also think that you shoud expect or at least prepare for a malfunction every jump. That way if it happens, it is not a surprize, and if is doesn't, what a relief!! blue skies, Anne
  16. Congrats. I was getting frustrated until my DZO decided to get me my falcon. The four of us turned ten points (that's a double falcon...). I still get frustrated with my skill level, but is is reassuring to know that I do have some skill.... Blue skies, Anne
  17. FallinWoman

    my sub title

It is so not about anything sexual..... Enjoy your status of less than newbie... soon enough you will fall in the ranks with every one else. I personally enjoy being special......... I wish i could be special forever..... blue skies, Anne
  18. I'll be pulling for you, girl!!! Best of luck! Blue skies, Anne
  19. Mike, I have no experience with pull-out at all. Is there a reason that you would advise against newbies having a pull-out? What about a throw out? I was converted from ripcord to throw out. I just wondered what would be different for pull-out. Blue skies, Anne
  20. I agree with you. I love hop and pops. I have no problem getting out at 3k. I am not comfortable much lower than that because I want time to clear, pull and evaluate before 1800 ft. If the airplane was in trouble, anywhere near 1000 I am out the door and pulling silver. Below 1000 I really don't know!!! blue skies and safe planes, Anne
  21. You aren't old, you just found life in the sky nine years sooner than I did! Congrats!!! Continued blue skies, Anne
  22. My name is Anne and I am a high school Algebra teacher. I love the time off......I don't love the pay..... Blue skies, Anne
  23. Marc, You left out the part about how composed you seemed to the rest of us. You were totally together in the hanger after your reserve ride. If you were nervous on the King Air, I sure couldn't tell, you were laughing and joking with the rest of us. You did a great job. You have my admiration for how quickly you got back up there. Just remember, no more rounds!!!!! Blue skies, Anne
  24. I heard one the other week: If you kill a spider, you will have a malfunction. (I am just reporting.....) Blue skies, Anne
  25. I thought it was sex:jumps:cases of beer owed to the dz (not just #bought or consumed) Was I wrong?? Blue skies, Anne
