I just think that it is funny that I was pronouncing Eins with a short e sound, so I did not get it. I often don't "get" Clay, but I always try to!!!! Today, for some reason I finally heard it with a long E sound and have been chuckling ever since. Clay is funny!!!!
-
Andrea, If you are going to compliment your DZ, do so by name!!! Brag on them and let others know who takes care of skydivers well!!!
-
Ok, I just "got" Clay's sig line. He has had it a while and I just could not figure out why he was quoting a clown. I am not always that bright......
-
I don't think so, ulnless this is very new. I just got my B a couple of months ago and have not taken the BIC. Isn't the BIC combined with the Coaches course? If so, don't you have to have a C license?

What a rep for that poor detective to have!!!! To have missed the skunk that many times and to have you show him up so well!! You go girl!!!

Sabres are known for slamming people. I was getting fine openings, but they were killing my neck. I still know something is happening, it is sort of like a tandem- the middle three cells open and the outer six slowly trickle open. nice and soft!

Ok, I usually dream, fantasize, visualize, etc about skydiving. However, this week seems to be the worst yet. I guess it is because i had such a crazy weekend: 1. Premature deployment 2. Low opening (in the saddle below my decision altitude) 3. I think I figured out how to land on my feet (6 out of 7, and the other one was because I was in the ditch) 4. I KNOW i figured out how to best pack my Sabre 190- I am consistently getting almost 1000ft snivels and super-soft openings. What a weekend!!!!!! All that craziness, is it any wonder that I am still not sleeping well???

except....I am finally gone pay some of that beer I owe.....Today felt like a Friday...this week is gonna suck!!!!
-
"It's making saturday way too far away though..." amen to that, Marc!!!

Another reason that I am frustrated, Bill, besides those I just mentioned in a private message to you, is that I had a premature deployment this weekend. It would not have happened had I been jumping my Mirage (my baby!) I was jumping a converted-to-BOC container (a Naro) with my really slick brand-new pilot chute. Best guess is that my slippery little PC shot right out of the stretched out pouch. Kinda scary!

Sounds like you did good! Congrats! It is always nice to know that you are going to keep your head about you in such a stressful situation, isn't it?

Let him call my DZO. He is pissed that his rig has been made wrong twice. The gear-lady is on a rampage, too. Let him call. That would be fabulous!! If I were lying I would worry about it. All I am doing is telling the story of my gear issues to my online buddies.
-
Hey Brian, Congrats!!! Sounds like you worked out some of those kinks! I think I saw you out there today, but was so in my own little world that I did not introduce myself. I am sorry! ( I am the one who landed on her feet and made a big deal about it......) Again, Congrats! Anne

Let me also say that I love my Mirage- She is sooo sweet! She fits like a dream and I love the pin and bridle protection. I have no issues with the product. I feel like this company took my $1500 for the custom rig and now doesn't give a hoot about my $200 problem.

It seems to me that a company that builds containers and includes your reserve freebag, pilot chute, and handles with their containers should have a few extras lying around RIGHT???? My cutaway was three weeks ago. I dropped my reserve handle, and lost my freebag/pilot chute in the corn. We ordered new stuff on October 1st. They still have no shipped it! My $300 skydive is creeping toward $400 with all the gear rental!!! I have heard excuses like their shipping manager was out of town, the head guy was out of town, and my personal favorite, they are out of stock due to military reasons (any of you military guys use Mirage containers for war-like purposes? ) My DZO ordered a new rig several months ago. It arrived, but was made with a few errors, including the wrong color trim tape, so he asked them to correct the order and faxed off the correct instructions (again). The second attempt arrived this week and THE TRIM TAPE WAS THE WRONG COLOR AGAIN!!!!! These events have almost made me regret doing business with this company. I just wanted you all to know......

Get your minds out of the gutter! No, really, I had a scary premature deployment (a first!) today. I am not posting this in gear and rigging because I know why it happened, I just wanted to share! I was doing a solo, one of my first jumps back since my cutaway three weeks ago. My gear is not ready, so I packed my canopy into the DZ's container. Out the door, a few barrel rolls, just watching the guy ahead of me. I decide to try to spin as fast as I can. I got myself going pretty good, a nice flat spin on my belly, just spinning REALLY fast. Then suddenly I was being pulled vertical. Startled the crap out of me. First thought: "No way I am low enough for a Cypres fire!" Second thought: "Which canopy is open?" Third thought: "Can you say line twists???" It was my main, and because I was spinning so fast on opening, I had some really fun line twists! I got them cleared, I wasn't worried, I was at 6000ft!!! (I usually pull around 3,500-3000) So besides an extra long canopy ride, no harm was done. I repacked and my rigger and I took a look. Turns out that the pouch for my pilot chute was stretched out on this rIg, so tHe way I fold and roll my pilot left it sitting fairly loosely in the pouch. Best guess is that the combo of some barrel rolls and me spinning like that made the pilot chute work its way out of the pouch. I WANT MY CONTAINER BACK!!!!!!!!! Be careful, folks! Blue skies, Anne

Well, I'll say 2, cuz I rented the same ig from m dz for 9 months. I won't count the stupid Naro I jumped after ordering my new gear and since my cutaway..... Blue skies, Anne

He's not sleeping, he is practicing mental imagery. He is imagining himself doing everything right.... really, that is NOT drool you see in the corner of his mouth ;)

Jason, My fear is that people would have a false sense of security iwht a parachute on their backs and jump when without the parachute they would not. I fear that people would jump, get hurt or die, when they should have stayed put and waited to be rescued. These parachutes should only be as a last resort and I am not sure that the general public would really understand the danger involved in jumping under those conditions.
-
I think that people would use these parachutes without exhausting all other possibilities. They would not understand all the things that could go wrong, from an unstable body position for deployment to wierd winds from surrounding buildings... They would think have parachute, will jump. If we have to have our reserves repacked every 120 days, woudl building parachute have the same requirement? Probably not. Since they would not be used for sport jumping, i think repacks and currency training would not apply. Again, scary that such untrained people would rely on such a parachute, possibly made, packed years earlier to save their life before ALL OTHER MEANS OF RESCUE WERE EXHAUSTED!!! just my .02 Anne

Oh No!!! FallinWoman = 11 letters I am a teacher = 11 letters I am doomed for sure! Thankfully Skydiving is only nine letters!

224. Gross I don't want to know!!!!!!

I too am suffering from LAS (low altitude sickness) I had that cutaway three weeks ago, jumped once right after on rented gear and have been confined to Earth since. I had a meltdown at work today that I at least partially attribute to my case of LAS Blue skies, moderate winds, and tip-toe landings to us all and soon!!! Anne

1) What is the lowest you have intentionally exited an aircraft (i.e. no emergency, fallout etc)? dragged a two-way off from 2,500ft. 2) What is the lowest you have gone WayLow intentionally (i.e. no loss of altitude awareness) ? 2000ft, which is only a big deal because my canopy takes up to 1000ft to open 3) What is the most stupid/dangerous thing you have done in freefall? nothing 4) What is the closest you have come to killing yourself? landed in a 35 mph wind, got picked back up and landed on my head. OUCH 5) What gives you the biggest kick? knowing that i have bigger balls than most of the people in this world!!! 6) How many times have you been grounded? Zero Blue skies, Anne

i guess my question then is, what about big(ish) ways? What if you are jumping with five other people and your turn 180 and track direction is straight toward the DZ? Should you track less? Steeper? Trust that the other groups are far enough away(not a good choice)?
