Brian Germain Interviews on SkydiveRadio.com
bob.dino replied to BrianSGermain's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Were you on rear risers? Post the video to skydivingmovies.com and it'll get analysed in far too much detail . -
The Pro-Track is an audible altimeter and electronic log-book. While no longer the latest generation (Optima, Viso & Altitrack are newer), it works extremely well and is excellent value. Its primary shortcoming is the expensive batteries it uses. The user interface will take a few minutes to get used to, but once learned is easy to navigate. Recommended.

What exactly makes you say 'socialist'? It doesn't seem to fit with anything else in your diatrabe.

I didn't join the British Army to conduct American foreign policy

I dislike the Telegraph, primarily for its reporting on Northern Ireland, but it's almost always factually accurate. It's also the most conservative non-tabloid newspaper, and lampooned as the Torygraph. To Americans: this is the equivalent of a paper long regarded as the mouthpiece of the Republican Party publishing this story. -
Sashimi and Kirin in Tokyo rocks. I hadn't a bloody clue what I was eating, but it was damn good.

You could be right, but the PD FAQ calls it Zero-Porosity. And, since permeable is a synonym of porous, I think we can agree that it doesn't matter too much .

Fair enough. For the record, the tenth edition is available for under USD 12 at Amazon.com

Icon and Aerodyne links in posts

I understand exactly where you're coming from, but I think that having the links in another colour makes it obvious to readers that the links are advertising rather than poster-authored editorial content, which was my primary complaint. It's not ideal, and I agree with RL that contextual text ads would probably be both less intrusive and more effective, but this is a compromise I'm happy to live with. I think it's also good to see that attention is being paid to our concerns. -
Wander down to the hotel kitchen and ask if they'll make it for you. If they're bored you might just get lucky...

ZP (Zero Porosity) refers to the type of fabric used in the manufacture of your parachute. Pretty much all new sport canopies these days are ZP. When it comes to purchasing a new PD canopy, there are two options that are suitable for you and will hold their resale value: the Spectre and the Sabre2. PD also make the Silhouette, but I think its resale value won't be quite as good. Both the Spectre and Sabre2 are excellent canopies and will serve you well. I did 350 jumps on a Spectre 190 and loved it. Versatile, tough, and great openings. Probably not the ideal canopy if you want to learn to swoop, but otherwise there ain't much I can say against it.

For further reading, PD have produced Wing Loading and Its Effects.

This bears repeating: there's a great market for 170s and 190s. You'd be able to sell one with a couple of hundred jumps on it for fairly close to what you paid for it.

It might be worth contacting the place you're going to jump at and asking them if they have a belt you can borrow - it'd save you transporting it by air.

A RAWA from Aerostore is approx AUD 550 + customs duties. A helmet & box from Fibre Zone is AUD 610. Fibre Zone is run by Cameron Jarrett in Sydney, and his helmets are damn good, as well as being tough carbon fibre. Not too much more expensive.

You've just defined the placebo effect.

Why not ask Cookie? His email address is on his website, and he's Cookie on dz.com too.

He had his shoulder screwed up at Cross Keys last year - on the exit Dav3e left and the guy holding onto him didn't. He's been out for pretty much six months & just got back in the air last week...

Happy Birthday mate.

Sangiro, It appears that Premier Members don't see the advertising links any more. Thank you. dave. -
That page is making two claims: That Electromagnetic Fields are intrinsically harmful to humans. That the BioPro QLink can do something about it. High-strength Electromagnetic Fields have been a cause of concern to some people for some years (power lines, etc.). I'm not current on the research being done in the field, so I'll refrain from comment, apart from to say that if you don't live directly under a high-tension powerline I doubt you've got much to worry about. The claim that the QLink can perform "EMF harmonization" is complete bollocks. What the hell is EMF harmonization supposed to be? Harmonizing with what? They even claim it'll improve my blood quality and my golf game?! For fucks sake. Just how gullible can you be... Or, as monkeycndo said, a fool and their money are soon parted. Note to hookit: note the "z"s. Just for you, baby .

Yeah, I think I remember you! Red jumpsuit? Camera helmet that was nothing more than a bracket? Ruckert's back in the air now, which is damn good.
