  1. If I'm a user of the system(s) why whould his opinion be more credible than mine? Credibility is in the eye of the beholder. And in my eyes, to put it bluntly, I think he's better at analysing the failure modes of gear than you are.
  2. If it's germane to the issue being discussed, sure. True. Which is why I didn't parrot them. I simply pointed folk who were reading this discussion to the thoughts of the inventor on the subject. No, I haven't and I don't. I do, however, want people reading this discussion to have a balanced and informed view on the subject. And I think the guy that invented both deployment systems has a more credible opinion than you or I. Or, we could spend the next fifty posts going back and forth about the perceived benefits and disadvantages of both systems. Would that satisfy you? If not, we can discuss RSLs.
  3. Is "jarhead" standard slang for US Marines?
  4. Lutz never went on Oprah begging for money...
  5. I've used classical , punk, rock, jazz, dance, and even a touch of country. It's all good
  6. Do a Search; it's been discussed a number of times.
  7. It looks like a normal rig, with a couple of differences: The pilot chute is packed on top of the main, like in a reserve. The pilot chute has a big spring in it, just like a reserve. The main is activated by pulling a ripcord, just like a.... There is only one emergency handle - it both cuts away the main and deploys the reserve. The reasoning behind using it? The student can see their ripcord, instead of having to reach for something behind their back. Emergency procedures are simplified. Handy bonus: you can put an FXC on the main. Downside? Once you're off student gear and buy a sport rig, you need to retrain your EPs. There may be other issues; I'm not a rated instructor.
  8. Myself and koppel may need to stage an intervention .
  9. Dude, in future could you make your subject lines a little more informative? Skydivers from all over the world read these forums, and if your subject was "No DC-3 at SSM, -whatever state-, Easter Weekend", then I wouldn't have to go reading the thread. Thanks, and have fun slapping your DZO .
  10. I don't know who packed it, but someone saved Baz's ass when a reserve deployed in the door and took the tail off the Caravan he was flying at Nagambie, Victoria, Australia in 2001. The story is posted elsewhere on this site.
  11. Do you know if there are any differences between the Canadian and NZ versions? Could you post closeups of the door & step?
  12. It already exists and has for some time. It is called a pud, pull-out, dildo etc. Bill Booth's thoughts on throw-out versus pull-out.
  13. Oh yeah. And Martin from Air Capital has also been professional & courteous to a potential competitor. If I ever find myself in Kansas, they'll be the two DZs I'll seek out first. I think that jumper410 et al should realise that threads like this, whatever their basis in fact, just come across as sour grapes and damage their reputation.
  14. L&B's new products should be added to the Gear section.
  15. Seconded. As it stands it's confusing - there's a link called "New Gear", but no indication as to how I might suggest something.
  16. Here's a direct link to the story.
  17. The reason "why didn't you change it" was brought up is that there's a lot of people out there with 99 jumps that don't know a damn thing about their gear, and they wanted to ensure you knew that letting a closing loop break was A Bad Thing. Unfortunately, often leaving out important details to try and keep a thread short has the opposite effect. If you can demonstrate that there's a sensible reason why you've ended up in a situation, folk are less apt to try and lecture you
  18. Yup. It's quite common. As to how long it took to go for me... about 550 jumps?
  19. Michelle's gonna go blind attempting to sew it
