Do a couple of years of 4-way, then come back and say that .
-
: 11 : 0 4x multipoint 12-ways 1x go-as-fast-as-you-can-without-having-creepered 4-way. 1x slightly more regular 4-way 4x 8-ways, as Centre Inside. My opposite captained the Aussie 8-way team for years. No pressure . 1x 16-way for a mate's 600th. Stalling the plane on jumprun was a memorable experience.

There are not a huge amount of Europeans on the English-language forums here, so you won't find too many opinions on the relative merits of the Next, PdF, etc.

The L&B Optima can be adjusted to sound at a different frequency if desired. Might be worth LM borrowing one and seeing if she can hear the warnings better at a different freq.

Skydiving is great, and the people in it are, for the most part, some of the best you'll meet anywhere. Unfortunately, there's someone playing silly buggers wrt the Spanish schools and dz.com. So yeah, there's some immature idiots involved with the various Spanish schools that cater to the Brits. Most of the rest of us are really nice though. Honest

Icon and Aerodyne links in posts
bob.dino replied to Nightingale's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
This is an attempt to link to the Icon container on the Square1 website: Icon. I can't. It's masked by the advertising link. -
Is this new (paid) functionality in dz.com?
bob.dino replied to IanHarrop's topic in Error and Bug Reports
This is really really annoying. Annoying to the point of not renewing my Premier membership. It my opinion it also damages the Aerodyne brand. The content of my posts is my own, and I resent having that content hijacked. It turns editorial content into advertising, and that crosses the line. -
Icon Aerodyne Icon Aerodyne edit: open and close a tag in the middle of the word and it doesn't link. If this continues, I'll cancel my Premier membership. It is, in my opinion, crossing the line by turning editiorial material into advertising. edit2: that complete Aerodyne rig I was planning on purchasing? If this feature doesn't go, I'll buy something else.

DCR-SR100... don't think I've seen this mentioned here
bob.dino replied to The111's topic in Photography and Video
I understand the physics. I still haven't heard of anyone actually doing it and damaging the unit. If the drive is rated to 400G operating shock, as the newest generation of Microdrives is, and that's reduced to 200G by the lack of atmosphere*, is that really going to be a problem at the top end of the skydive? To be honest, I'd be more worried about the rapid temperature & humidity changes than the lack of atmosphere. * massive assumption alert. -
Michel Fournier High Altitude Record Attempt (again)?
bob.dino replied to ltdiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Touché . -
Yep. However, spending the first 21 years of my life in Ireland actually makes me Irish .
-
Yup. And unlike the other posters in this thread, I actually am Irish. Sorry, but if you're 2nd or 3rd generation, you're actually American. If in doubt, look at your passport . You might say it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine.

Michel Fournier High Altitude Record Attempt (again)?

131,234 feet sounds better, 40K sounds well... low. 40K is low compared to 40km -

DCR-SR100... don't think I've seen this mentioned here
bob.dino replied to The111's topic in Photography and Video
Has anyone ever proven this, or is it just based on reading of the specs? -
The APF website has a copy.

Global warming and ID are matters of fact not opinion and in my opinion don't qualify as political bitching.

Do you pay if you come down with the plane?
bob.dino replied to testpilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yep, though most jumpers are smart enough to ground themselves before that happens. I've also seen loads called down from height. The APF have specified maximum wind limits for jumpers as well. One of the nicer things is that as far as I know the staff are never put under pressure to jump in conditions they're not comfortable with. -
PILOT CHUTE DEPLOYMENT/ALTITUDE
bob.dino replied to flyaway's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Depends on the canopy and how it's packed. I believe that anywhere from 400-1000ft would be fairly normal, though I am open to correction on that one. ps: typing in all capitals is the online equivalent of shouting. edit: typo correction -
Freak . Pretty much any modern container will serve nicely.

Do you pay if you come down with the plane?
bob.dino replied to testpilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Nope. If you decide not to exit because of a change in the weather between the time we board and the time we get to jump run, we get our ticket back. Safety first, and all that.
