Nice photos, esp. the horny gorilla. Send that one to the ASM...

It's due for its (expensive) 100 hour service, which is why it's on the ground at the moment. Coming to play on Saturday? If you're lucky I might even get off my belly!

I'm still not gonna fuck you, so you can quit asking, ok?

Pretty little pissed girl, sitting in a tree, P.O.S.T.I.N.G.! Happy birthday Bobby! Have a good one mate.

Big Al at Ramblers runs three Caravans for skydiving operations. I can't comment on cycle times as I've only jumped them during the recent Aussie nationals, where for 4-way RW they were only going to 11k. They're a friendly bunch and may well be able to help out with your numbers game.

pull at right altitude / track to avoid collision
bob.dino replied to lynxie's topic in Safety and Training
Your mate is mostly wrong. The APF Op Regs (rules) state that you must be under a fully-open parachute by 1800ft. With many modern canopies, dumping at 2.5kft would get you close to this limit more regularly than comfortable. Most folk I know dump around 3kft. Some higher, and a few lower. I don't know anyone that routinely dumps below 2.5kft. That said, I don't sit on the DZ with a laser rangefinder trying to figure out people's opening altitudes . -
I think someone somewhere in that school has a sense of humour . Enjoy it; it's rare.

I voted yes, and I don't BASE. However, you have to be mighty careful when deleting posts in another forum. Bonfire is an area where people talk to their friends about random shit and they wouldn't necessarily immediately understand if posts about BASE jumps started getting deleted. Education is needed first, so folk understand why deletions happen. Tom: you might ask HH to set up an email notification for you if the word BASE appears in a forum other than The BASE Zone. Despite the unavoidable false positives, it should make patrolling other forums much easier for you.

Tens of millions of tons of rock between you and the nearest base station will have an effect on your reception. GSM can take advantage of multipath reflection (bouncing signals of hills/buildings/etc.), but there's a limit to what can be done if you're at the bottom of a canyon with shitloads of granite providing a nice barrier to radio signals.

You can run in the rain. You can surf in the rain. Ok, jumping in the rain hurts, a lot, but otherwise just carry on...

I thought it was "you go down on me and I'll owe ya one" .

Or just use The GIMP.

You're not supposed to use pint glasses for wine!

Dumbest thing you did skydiving
bob.dino replied to cocheese's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I saw the end result of this about a month ago. Premature deployment in a sit, canopy ok, reserve tray only held on by the stitching between the shoulders, a lot of brusing, and one very lucky boy. -
HELP! (from the techie guys) - PC shuts off for no reason
bob.dino replied to BASE813's topic in The Bonfire
It could be spyware on your system, but that's an aspect of computing I'm not particularly familiar with, so I'll let others comment on that. It seems that your computer is shutting off for a number of different reasons, with the common theme as I see it, being intensive or extended usage. This would suggest to me that the problem may be overheating. Does the fan on your system still work? -
Whats the difference between a 7cell and 9cell canopy?
bob.dino replied to bluesky1977's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've no experience with a Silhouette, but I've got about 160 jumps on my Spectre 190. Nice, smooth, slow openings. Very forgiving of shit body position and less-than-perfect packing techniques. -
Ha ha ha . Trucks and guns and a very Texan "shoot them first, wonder why they were in your house later" approach to life. Yeah .

I had four fun years in London where I had all the good music I could ever want . Last time I was in Boston - a couple of years ago - Sasha and Boy George were playing. The dress code said 'no trainers'! WTF?! . You're there to dance all night and you're supposed to wear dress shoes? On a happier not, the best new dance music I've heard recently (tho I'm completely out of touch) is Go! Team. Well worth checking out.

Not a problem. Lots of useful info on the site.

Do most airlines allow you to take that much as carry-on? Normal limits I've encountered are one piece of luggage no heavier than 7kg (~14lbs) for carry-on...

Remove all empty folders in the Personal Galleries?
bob.dino replied to Daizey's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
I like this idea. Useful and not too much of a pain in the arse to implement. And HH, it's not technology for technology's sake . -
