  1. Gerard imports them into Oz. Total Control make a rip-off of the Z1 (Cougar or Rapier or something?). I've heard so-so things about them. PA import the Oxygn into Australia. I like my Z1. There's plenty around, so I'd suggest trying one on for fit at your local DZ. edit: you jump at Picton. There's a shedload of Z1s and Oxygns around. Try some on. Also, talk to Adrian Lloyd and see what he's got secondhand. No point in spending AUD$400-600 if you don't have to.

    C++ help?

Does 'Yo!' ever get printed? Does your program fail with an error message? I won't give you a solution, but I'll point you in the right direction... ...to that end, some random thoughts: 1- Have you instantiated and opened the ifstream? Have you instantiated the array? 2- Your while loop should not be testing to see if the input object is 0/NULL, it should be testing to see if there are more characters to be read: while(!input.eof()) { //do stuff } If input is non-null, then nothing in the code you've posted will ever set it to null, so testing it all the time to see if it's null is a bit pointless. 3- You should also check for input failure after reading (using input.fail()). 4- I would mark you down for using MAX_LENGTH_OF_NAMES in your function declaration and 80 in the definition. Constants everywhere, please. 5- What happens if the file contains 10 million lines? You have no check in place to make sure you don't write past the end of the array. 6- Good practice is for the first line in your function should be a check to see if either input parameter is null, and if it is, just return immediately. Defensive programming can save your arse in the real world. That'll do for now! C++ is a big hard language, so be patient and always pay attention to freeing memory.
  3. RSS feeds are cool*. Topato Potato is cool. The way you're acting isn't. Chill out and have a . * Personally, I think they're a good idea, but I'm not sure how many dz.commers would use 'em. Though I'd be very happy to see and use an RSS feed for articles.
  4. Ten minutes with google. Thought process: 1. Search for "Mil spec rubber bands". 2. About the 7th result is dscc.dla.mil which appears to be a store of information on miltary specifications. Click it. 3. Not much there of interest, so try the "Document Index" link. 4. On the resultant page there's a link to the Document Automation and Production Service. 5. Type "RUBBER BAND" into the ASSIST search engine and see what comes up. Technology is wonderful, isn't it?
  5. I can't find the current recommendation, but the specification until 1997 is here. Here's the associated notice of cancellation.
  6. Where do you get this information? The latest Op Regs suggest that everyone with less than a D licence (200 jumps) must have an AAD, and that those with less than an E licence (500 jumps) must have an RSL or an AAD.
  7. An uninformed question for you: Put a 6' 4" and a 5' 2" person under that canopy. Wouldn't the difference in the pendulum effect caused by their height have much more effect than shortening the risers by an inch? Or am I missing something?
  8. Ten people tell you what they think.
  9. It's considered quite bad form here in Oz for low-time jumpers not to pack their own rig on at least a semi-regular basis. I had an injured hand and couldn't pack for myself for three months (around jumps 80-140). I had three instructors quiz me on why I wasn't packing for myself. Which is fair enough - I think all low-timers should pack for themselves as much as possible. After all, you really should know the gear that's gonna keep you alive. All that said, I usually pay for the last pack-job of the day. 'Coz the bar is open - priorities! .
  10. Doubt it. If I'd spent that kind of money on crack, I'd have died long ago . edit: fuck. Just realised I forgot to account for a $2k main! $20k?! Ouchy .
  11. Buying me beer? Excluding food, transport, accomodation, and probably lots of costs that I've not kept track of, I've spent at least AUD$18,000 in fourteen months of jumping.
  12. The little bit of yoga I do seems to work well. Swimming would build the shoulder and arm muscles that are handy for combat RW or sitting in brakes on a sunset load.
  13. Single at the mo', but for ex: - Tandem! (she hated it) - Day at spa - Trip to Melbourne
  14. Two very different pieces: The Mamas and the Papas - California Dreaming. I just love the close harmonies. Allegri - Miserere Mei. Possibly the finest choral work ever composed. Sends shivers up my spine every time I hear it.
  15. I did it a couple of weeks ago. 3 way took a disposable out, we passed it 'round in freefall and took photos. And yes, I did manage to hold onto it through deployment. No worries. Blurry photos tho' .
  16. Indeed. And I don't begrudge them the free/discounted gear for a minute. More power to them.
  17. I think this nicely sums up my aim in this thread - you've just phrased it better than I've so far managed .
  18. From Australia: The Cat Empire. Funny summery pop by jazz musicians. Highly highly recommended. From France/Spain: Manu Chao. Blues/dance/reggae. Simply amazing. If you ever get the chance to see him live, don't dare spurn it. I'm not listening to nearly as much music as I used to, but those two artists will brighten up your day.
  19. Of course! There's absolutely no inference that folk wouldn't listen to or ask questions of sponsored jumpers just because they're sponsored. Some of the sponsored jumpers here seem to be taking Dave's suggestion as an affront to their personal integrity. It isn't. As highly experienced, very credible sources of information, I'd simply like to know if they had a contractual obligation to promote a particular product.
  20. Is it the kind of thing you'd feel comfortable sharing to the big wide world? Since this is purely a prurient voyeuristic* impulse of mine, feel free to tell me where to get off. * Look ma! I can use big words!
  21. Maybe the Germans are just getting loads and don't need more?
